I seem to remember when comics had good art. This C.A. and the Wolverine one I saw earlier are garbage
DBeck - 9/22/2012, 6:43 PM
Maybe, but the Guice art on Winter Soldier is [frick]ing gorgeous. Especially for the type of book it is. I'd love to see what he could do with Brubaker in a "Criminal" story, taking nothing away from Sean Phillips, of course.

That's some old-school looking art...

Really? Huh. All my least favorite artists are at Marvel, but I think this Cap art looks pretty good.

Interesting.

Can't wait to pick up these titles!

I have been reading and collecting Captain America ever since his first appearance in Tales of Suspense and the Avengers. (Yes, and Strange Tales, but that was the Acrobat in disguise.) That having been said, I have given up on Cap in the last year, as I think Marvel has, too.

The art and plot lines are horrible. From what I've seen of the 'new and improved' relaunch, (again) Romita Junior's art ranks right down there with Liefeld's. Sorry, Marvel, but the only Captain America I have left is in the movies. Winter Soldier is a great title, and I'm anxiously awaiting the movie sequel.

I'm afraid Captain America doesn't translate well into the new politically correct, unpatriotic society in which we are trapped. I hope I never see the day when he turns his back on American citizens and apologizes to our enemies, turns gay or burns the flag and prays to mecca because it might sell comics.

DC has lost my business long ago. Sorry, Marvel, you're headed in the same direction.

I'm sure I'll have some die hard fan deride me, call me names, or try to explain where I'm wrong. However, guess what? This is my opinion. It's called free speech. And at least for a while longer, I have a right to it.

'nuff said...

Na I get exactly what you're saying 76. It's hard to have a go hard apple pie type of hero that Captain America was in today's society. It's making him relate while upholding some of those values that we grew up reading...It has been happening for a while...But as Cap would say, it's during these times we have to put trust in each other and our country to recognize when it's time for some "old fashioned" to come into play.

Hopefully this new shake up marvel is trying will give someone an opportunity to spread Cap's wings again...give him a cause again...and if the stuff doesn't work for you..we always have some of his best stories to go back and read again and again.

Best of luck to you 76~!

Wow, people bashing Francesco. I swear majority of you guys don't know great art when you see it.
XavierLehnsherr - 9/22/2012, 9:36 PM
I like what they're doing with the blacks and the reds in the first pics.

Art isn't just about good pencilling.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I pay 3 dollars for art that bad. That CA/BW art is nasty!
JustDame - 9/22/2012, 11:38 PM
Francavilla has been all over every publisher for the past year and i've loved his work. I dropped Captain America team up after Captain America and hawkeye. Might pick this up just for Frankavilla's art.
arachnidzpr7 - 9/23/2012, 12:49 AM
like the art

"HEY CAP BY THE WAY, MY BOYFRIEND IS YOUR BEST BUDDY YOU THOUGHT WAS DEAD."

Sorry man but that artwork on Cap is lousy unless it's supposed to be me in that Cap uniform. Besides the terrible lack of detail and crappy style, Cap looks like his super soldier serum has left the building. He has the physique of a school teacher. No muscle mass or tone whatsoever. Terrible. I know there were some great creators back in the early golden age but there were some awful artists too and this looks like it belongs in Marvel Mystery Comics circa 1939. Carl Burgos did better work than this.

And yes 76cidgrad, it's time to stop paying 5 bucks a pop for trash and start reading the back issues. That's where I'm at now.
