Looks good. I buy both titles: Superman and Action Comics. Hoping this run takes flight.

This creative team is awesome. I just hope this doesn't mean that they are both leaving Red Hood and the Outlaws, because they were doing a really good job of building that series into a giant operatic epic.
If they have left, then it's just the latest in a string of DC Corporate cock-ups. But I may just have to jump ship with them and pick up Superman. That zero issue they did was good.
Rocafort is seriously awesome. He's a lot like Turner but with a bit of Silvestri. And some of his more pschadelic storytelling techniques remind me of old-skool Gerorge Perez. Seriously good stuff.

Rocafort's art is fantastic, but I hate Lobdell's writing with the fire of 10,000 exploding suns, so, pass...

So the New 52 Superman is definitely strong enough to move a planet by himself with ease (if he had a proper support to lift it).

i've been away from superman comics a bit too long it seems. are we looking at almost silver age-esque strength level again? Bench pressing the Earth for 5 days and flying from the sun and back in seconds (it would seem). I need to catch up on my Superman runs.

Don't like the fact that he can hold earth's weight for 5 days, I don't enjoy a too powerfull superman, Hope she's mean and make him blieve that was the weight he was lifting. Love the art I can picture Cavill in here but I hate the S on superman's body can't they give him a couple of wrist bands that can make the suit or something else seriously, although overall the flaws still looking forward to this !

These guys were such a great team on Red Hood and The Outlaws and I'm really sad to see them get pulled for such a lame character like Superman.

I think the problem I have with the power up is you lose anything you can relate to. He may have grown up as a human but when you can move the moon (or earth @Nomis) how can you still feel anything like one? How can you empathize with others when it took five days of benching the weight of the earth to even get 1 drop of sweat? How can you understand their struggles? How can you not start to feel like Dr. Manhattan?
Different strokes for different folks and that is fine. The main reason I read these stories is to see an invidual or group of individuals struggle at all cost to beat evil, even to the death. It doesn't seem he is capable of struggle anymore on human terms. So unless you are fighting GOD's every wednesday, you don't really need him and he won't really need you. By the looks of it, Superman could race around the earth, stop every crime, every bad guy (super or not), build every building and destroy everybomb....without ever breaking a sweat. Which kinda defeats the purpose of every others characters drive to do well...anything. Again, it's just an opinion.

Great, finally a good artist on the series!!! Now DC has to put Ben Oliver on Action Comics and everuthing will be alright with the man of steel!!!

I'm glad Superman has silver age power levels again. Now the writers have to come up with better stories and more powerful villains. It seems also from this preview that he's thoughtful of his words and actions.
One of the main reasons Superman has been popular over the years is that even being someone with god like powers, he was raised to be humble and compassionate. The opposite of absolute power corrupts absolutely. That's what makes Superman the greatest of superheros.
I love the art of Rocafort and hopefully Lobdell will give us Superman stories to remember.

@OdinsBeard again, let's say you were born in Brazil but, as a toddler, moved to America. You'd think and feel as an american, not brazilian. Same thing with Supes.

He never been to Krypton. He was born there, but moved to Earth as a toddler and was raised by two strong, loving figures who thaught him to be who he is.

Some of you are bellyaching about Superman being overpowered, but say nothing about the Hulk. If you noticed, the New 52 Superman is coming with villians who are just as powerful (like Hellspoint), so this will be interesting.

@dnno1 so, DC come up with a bunch of new age Doomsday, bi deal. DCU already had a lot of dudes that gave Superman problems.

@Berean you forgot about magic too. But, yeah, it's important to remind people that there are other super powered being in the DCnU

i can understand belly aching because a lazy writer could more easily do a story with "a brand new stronger threat" and really feel stale. I don't have an issue with the strength level, and as far as the hulk, he's a time bomb of ungodly strength which is a bit different than a big boy scout.

as far as the stopping all crime thing, no one can be in multiple places at once. reminds me of the captain marvel run a few years back where he had to choose between two crimes, one being a simple mugging, the other being a galactic war, but he could only stop one. he stops the war, but with his cosmic awareness he sees that by saving the lady from the mugger he would of helped usher in a new messiah that would of brought peace throughout the universe. long story short, drove him crazy. superman (sans the cosmic awareness) would have the same issues, he would have to choose, have to place more value on one life over another and it would eat at him.

just because he is super powered to this extreme doesn't mean you can't relate to the character. yes there will be a few "superman walk the earth to relate to people" storylines, but every character has a trope they fall back on to help mold the character. how many "losing my mind and grip on who i am" batman stories have we read? how many "woe is me and my life sucks" spider-man stories have we read? how many "no one likes us and we're fighting an uphill battle" x-men stories are there? it takes a decent writer to find more toothpaste in those tubes and make it work.

we all love seeing superman take on foes, and tossing in a new big bad (ala doomsday) will also happen quite often, but also giving him cerebral villains that make him question his moral code exist (ala luthor).

superman's power level has fluctuated throughout the years and in every era, someone has figured out how to make him last for another 10 or so years and he changes a bit again.
