Thanks to iFanboy, we have yet another excerpt from Avengers #1. There's not much to say about this one as it focuses on a couple of characters we've yet to be properly introduced to. Be sure to click HERE to check out the first excerpt, and HERE to read the second. Writer Jonathan Hickman clearly has some BIG plans for the series, but is it one of your most anticipated "Marvel NOW!" launches? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Page 6:

Panel 4 – Aleph looks over at Ex and repeats himself. Ex Nihilo puts his hand on Aleph’s shoulder, friendly — and with his other hand makes that Italian gesture, "We did soooo much drinking/stealing/whatever."

ALEPH

World Razing, Ex Nihilo.

EX NIHILO

Ah, you miss the point, Aleph. Where’s your sense of romance?

With names like Ex Nihilo and Aleph and the nature of these characters from what little we've seen so far, these guys seem pretty interesting. Glad they're trying something new.

Ex nihilo is a Latin phrase meaning "out of nothing". It often appears in conjunction with the concept of creation, as in creatio ex nihilo, meaning "creation out of nothing.
So this guys like a genie then?

Aleph.ʾĀlep is the reconstructed name of the first letter of the Proto-Canaanite alphabet, continued in descended Semitic alphabets as Phoenician Aleph , Syriac 'Ālaph ܐ, Hebrew Aleph א, and Arabic ʾAlif ا.
This guys good at math?

Aleph could be named more in line with Gematria which ancient Hebrew mystics, as well as other cultures with similar word play, used to contruct words with certain sounds in a geometrical way according to series of vibrations that they believed to be linked to the forces of creation.

Jonathan Hickman is a good comic book writer. Avengers should be a great comic book series.

@Rogmel: That isn't written into the script. It looks like it was just a description to direct the artist what to draw from the writer.

@GLprime No, Stated furthermore in hickmans interview before, Ex nihilo is a plant like alien. He's in a group called the "Garden". His name fits very well. His name also fits to being leader of the group. Other than that, theres nothing yet revealed. Although it's pretty clear of his motive. Like most plant aliens you see in any media, they usually want to consume or take over earth. No info on Aleph yet, but he's most likely in the group as well.
