The last time we saw Darkseid, he was facing off against the Justice League in a flashback to the very start of "The New 52". While he's also making his presence felt in Batman/Superman, the Lord of Apokolips gets an origin story in Greg Pak's Justice League #23.1: Darkseid!

@Jollem because that's exactly what I said... If you find the New 52 fun, more power to you. I find it a step backwards. Rehashing old stories, 90s feel, 2D characters... But go for it.

Ya compared to Thanos back story this is quite boring and unoriginal for comics. His original backstory is more compelling then this.

So, Darkseid killed all of the Old Gods and took their power in order to become THE New God? I can dig it. Though pre-transformation Darkseid/Uxas looks kinda dumb.

I think they're trying to keep this one purposefully simple. When they say he's just always been evil, that tells you right from the get go that the back and forth stuff that Doom or Catwoman pull doesn't fly with him.

When he's involved in a story, it's as the villain. Period. Always has been, always will be. That's what I think they're saying with this.

Also, the new origin looks sweet. I can see the similarities to the God Butcher shit going on in Thor right now (which i'm not happy about, but hopefully it's handled a lot better.
The only thing i'm hoping they adress is how easily Darkseid was defeated in Justice League. I hope it's retconned as being a fake DS-robot or something he sent out onto the field, because he really can't be defeated so easily.
