Promising a realistic take on the iconic legendary character, Brett Ratner's take on the Hercules: The Thracian Wars graphic novel is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2014. With a cast which includes the likes of Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and John Hurt, it certainly seems to have all the right ingredients to be a great summer blockbuster. However, it's leading man Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who is building hype for the movie with a series of production photos released via his Twitter account. Here's the latest...

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend. Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.

I did not know that Hercules wore Puma... I guess the Greeks endorsed back then too before the Roman Gladiators did.
The13thDoctor - 8/30/2013, 3:44 PM
I love how excited Mr. Johnson is about making this movie :) He's like a kid who just got a puppy and can't stop putting pictures of it online for everyone to see. I want this movie to do well, if for no reason other than his enthusiasm rubbing off on me.
TelaVizion - 8/30/2013, 3:44 PM
I got my NYCC badge in the mail today....WOOHOO!!!!!

I'm ready for Rock to be in a Marvel movie now... It's about time. This gonna be a good movie.

You guys need to watch "Empire State" starring him and Liam Hemsworth (lil Thor)
ricko8687 - 8/30/2013, 3:50 PM
How about a Thor vs Hercules movie
Havensent - 8/30/2013, 3:50 PM
I agree with you, 13thdoctor. His enjoyment makes me more excited to see it honestly.

Btw, he looks like a man-monster compared to the dudes around him which is fitting seeing who he's playing.
TheDpool - 8/30/2013, 3:52 PM
Sorry but [frick]ing hell it'd be nice to have a body like that.
Nubase - 8/30/2013, 3:55 PM
This will be a role whre he will unleash himself totally on screen

l saw pain and gain the other day and the rock was brilliant in it, perhaps his best acting performance to date.

Can he be darkseid in the future?
DioFoRio - 8/30/2013, 3:56 PM
DonJonMags just got moist.
DioFoRio - 8/30/2013, 3:58 PM
@Nubase..lol yeah the Rock was good in Pain and Gain. He really is underrated. I have liked everything he was in even if it was just his scenes. Never was a part of the wrestling fandom for him..but damn I love this dude in flicks. He improved so much since his first role.
Danbojohnj - 8/30/2013, 3:58 PM

His love of doing this film is the only thing that makes me want to see this, Though his massive upper body looks kinda weird now compared to his tiny legs.
Hexagram - 8/30/2013, 4:21 PM
Always thought he'd have been cast in a AVP or Predator franchise sequel. Curious to see the first trailer.
Kyos - 8/30/2013, 4:31 PM
Ha, I hope this movie will be fun to watch - Dwayne at least seems to have quite some doing it! :D

Swiftsword777 - 8/30/2013, 4:51 PM

QuanZen - 8/30/2013, 4:52 PM
@Mercwitham0uth Rock is Black/Samoan, and that's more accurate than a white guy LMFAO
TheBeard - 8/30/2013, 5:15 PM
Not a fan of Hercules not having powers
virgilswann - 8/30/2013, 5:28 PM
Why is Hercules African American?
virgilswann - 8/30/2013, 5:31 PM
Hey QuanZen, Hercules was Greek, a white man. How is a half black, half Samoan more accurate??
CyberBishop - 8/30/2013, 5:38 PM
Christ can his friggin arms get any damned bigger???
MrReese - 8/30/2013, 5:56 PM

bbarber2323 - 8/30/2013, 6:37 PM
Far from having chicken legs. Dudes thighs are huge. Calves are cut and proportioned. Google it first before you talk shit jackasses.
blippyboy - 8/30/2013, 7:08 PM
The Rock need to play fraggin' LOBO!!!
Greengo - 8/30/2013, 7:32 PM
Dude is peaked physically.

I want to reach the peak at least once In.my life.

Dwayne Johnson lives it.

Respect.
QuanZen - 8/30/2013, 7:46 PM
@virgilswann-Wrong! His mother was from Thebes(Egypt) and of course myth says his father was Zeus. Stories are told of him by greeks and romans but he wasn't either. Don't worry many don't bother to know this ;)
Ranger14 - 8/30/2013, 8:52 PM
Actually, the first thing I thought when i looked at the image is that his lower legs are small in comparison to the rest of him and it is fairly obvious to me. Sure he has decent calf muscle definition, but im talking size. I just google imaged him and didn't see anything to convince me differently, besides we are talking now, not what he may have looked like in the past.it appears that his legs were about the same size when he was leaner and he didn't keep building them along with his current upper body regiment. The old-schoolers here know I was a personal trainer in my younger days, so I am not just saying it to say it.
Ramiel - 8/30/2013, 11:08 PM
@FIRG

His cousin, Roman Reigns, is also ripped and he has no black in him.
Ramiel - 8/30/2013, 11:11 PM
Now, this is the Hercules I want to see on the big screen:
mctrinket - 8/30/2013, 11:22 PM
I really like The Rock...I just wish he and his people made better choices in terms of the projects he takes on. Maybe this will surprise us, but it seems like pretty generic stuff
loki668 - 8/30/2013, 11:24 PM
@Danbojohnj

VICTORY!!!!
sameoldthing - 8/31/2013, 12:32 AM
Rock is huge now.
He's a big guy but that size he has now is hard work in the gym,a good diet & STEROIDS.
wallhead - 8/31/2013, 1:39 AM
Trainer or not its idiotic to say his legs are small. Just go on his facebook page. He traibs legs like every other day it seems and they are friggin massive and cut. Dont be ignorant.
