In the New York Times Bestselling Age of Ultron, a time-travelling Wolverine killed Hank Pym before he could create the world-conquering robot Ultron. But what would the world look like if a different founding Avenger had been killed instead? Each issue of WHAT IF: AGE OF ULTRON imagines a cataclysmic alternate universe without one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! What would the world look like without the Wasp? A world where distraught Hank Pym never goes on to create Ultron – and instead ushers in a future even more heinous than the one we know! And it all happens this April in WHAT IF: AGE OF ULTRON #1!

These look awesome! Covers are top notch!
Brainiac13 - 3/4/2014, 1:32 PM
He looks very similar to Iron Man.......
untipoconboina - 3/4/2014, 1:33 PM
They should use this Ultron design for the Age of Ultron film.
autobot - 3/4/2014, 1:33 PM
you know how marvel comics are starting to look more like the MCU. THis could be a huge Hint!
ItsATrap - 3/4/2014, 1:34 PM
Those panels are pretty great too
xStarLordx - 3/4/2014, 1:35 PM
Looks alot like the suitcase armor but with a different color scheme and head
NebulaFields - 3/4/2014, 1:36 PM
Ulton does look like Iron Man... just like how his helmet looks like an Iron Man helmet in the Avengers 2 teaser.
ForMeToPoopOn - 3/4/2014, 1:37 PM
So, while mourning the death of Wasp, Pym creates a gigantic penis that ejaculates Ultrons?

Sounds legit.
themidnightking - 3/4/2014, 1:38 PM
Cool.
Joementum - 3/4/2014, 1:38 PM
It's a What If?

No history is re-written.

History will be re-written when the 616/MCU merger is finally canon.
SageMode - 3/4/2014, 1:38 PM
A possible hint at Ultron's design being a tweaked version of the Mark V/Suitcase armor? I can dig it.
Jaspion - 3/4/2014, 1:40 PM
Demonic Mark V
TexasAvenger - 3/4/2014, 1:42 PM
If Ultron looks like that in Avengers 2 I would be more than happy with that. He looks so badass!
StarYeezus - 3/4/2014, 1:53 PM
Yea he definitely looks like an all silver Mark V. I doubt this is the look they'll be using in the Avengers 2, though, since Whedon said something about wanting more facial expression. I just hope he doesn't have one of those "Bayformers" mouths. Yuck.
TheOneAboveAll - 3/4/2014, 1:55 PM
Is it just me or does this helmet look very Iron Man like?
Makiveli21 - 3/4/2014, 1:59 PM
He sure did Gusto.
He suuuuure did.
UltimateHunt - 3/4/2014, 2:02 PM
mhmmmmm intersting....
that ultron looks like iron man, his creator in the MCU
StarYeezus - 3/4/2014, 2:06 PM
On a related note, did anyone notice how Iron Patriot's cheek looks very similar to Ultron's. Maybe Rhodey's armor is the starting point.

Now I really wish that IM2 hadn't wasted the rogue drone sequence. It's going to look recycled now if they do it in AoU.
wookiefit76 - 3/4/2014, 2:10 PM
Love the art, but I'm sick of alternate timeline stories.
ChiliConCarney - 3/4/2014, 2:20 PM
Didn't Age of Ultron take place mainly in the future? How can you rewrite history if the events happen in the future?

...

JVH - 3/4/2014, 2:23 PM
This

Is pretty much identical to the Mark V
MightyZeus - 3/4/2014, 2:27 PM
Yeah. Ultron looks strikingly similar to Iron Man. Could it be because Ultron could look the same way in the Age of Ultron film?
CaptShipwreck - 3/4/2014, 2:28 PM
As a kid these what it's were pretty dark most of time , I remember reading what if marvel lost the Atlantic attacks battle ... The thing got crunched by a sea dragon
marvel72 - 3/4/2014, 2:33 PM
the second cover down would make an awesome poster for avengers age of ultron, would make a great scene as well like a vision of the future.
Jaspion - 3/4/2014, 2:41 PM
@Marvelicious well that's not really confirmed.

Other sources said Ultron is not built by Tony, he already exists, just not in physical form... so, we'll have to wait and see.
Dustellar - 3/4/2014, 2:46 PM
Ultron looks like Iron Man... Maybe this comic shows how Pym uses Iron Man armors to create Ultron, is a What If? Pym created Ultron even earlier and with malevolent intentions.
Reni - 3/4/2014, 3:15 PM
Classic Marvel cashing in, even with an awful event like this one haha
CaptShipwreck - 3/4/2014, 3:23 PM
Cause DC would never ever cash in on anything
TheRealRemyLebeau - 3/4/2014, 3:29 PM
Lovely art. Vision and Ultron here we come.
Reni - 3/4/2014, 3:30 PM
Yeah i bet they'd make alternate books of every event they've done since New 52 started, oh wait, the only event in 2 years is Forever Evil!
xcan - 3/4/2014, 3:31 PM
For Ultron, the look of his face was already revealed... well 'revealed' in IM3 after that 42 armor blew up and Stark was looking straight at it as the fire was buring within... or I just was really drunk when I saw it.

Case of 'either or'.
TheAmericanPatriot - 3/4/2014, 4:27 PM
This is a pretty sweet look actually.
Enphlieuwince - 3/4/2014, 4:52 PM
I must have this...
dethpillow - 3/4/2014, 5:40 PM
@JVH - woah, yeah... if u put it like that, it sure does. crazy. it's like exactly the same.

i was surprised to actually read Age of Ultron and find it wasn't as bad as it seemed like it should be. i didn't read it as it came out tho, and maybe that was the most annoying part.

but these look like fun What If? stories. kinda fits the whole premise of the original storyline anyways.

actually Age of Ultron should just been a What If in the first place. i think people would've liked it more if it was presented as it truly was...cuz that's the best way to read it, not having anything to do with reality. sort of a cheap premise for an event tho.
ThePowerCosmic - 3/4/2014, 6:50 PM
Age of Ultron was a great story line...never understood the hate it got. My big issue was with the art, although some of the variant covers were awesome.

Totally getting all of these.
Thecondor14 - 3/4/2014, 8:20 PM
I don't know about anyone else but I don't like the idea of them inserting things from the movies in to the comics.
J3225 - 3/4/2014, 11:06 PM
I´m glad their choosing to bring back the "What If?" title to Marvel. There were some really good alternatives and concepts for the mind to ponder on. I wonder if Ultron will look like that in the new Avengers movie.
mgeoff88 - 3/4/2014, 11:53 PM
Ultron's design based on Iron Man's Mark V suitcase armor?

That kind of seems like an important detail.
Jwe75 - 3/4/2014, 11:56 PM
Meanwhile on the Avengers 2 set...

"Move!"

FerFogs - 3/5/2014, 7:20 AM
@JVH gets it.
