DEADPOOL Will Be The Last Superhero Role Ryan Reynolds Will Play

Given that he's already featured in several comic book movies, it's hardly surprising that Ryan Reynolds is looking to call time on his onscreen crime-fighting career after Deadpool. However, he hasn't ruled out a return as the Merc With A Mouth. Read on for more details!

Ryan Reynolds is known for his bad luck choosing comic book movie roles in the past. All of his previous outings with the genre (including 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine & 2011's Green Lantern) have gone down poorly with fans and critics alike. That trend looks set to end with next year's Deadpool though, with fan expectation for the X-Men spin-off at an all time high.

While promoting his latest movie Self/Less, Reynolds was asked by
HuffPost whether or not he'd be open to playing more supeheroes in the future. While he professed his love of the genre and the fans, the popular actor revealed he's looking to hang-up his supersuit. However, he didn't rule out a potential return as the Merc With A Mouth in a Deadpool sequel - providing the first movie was a financial success in the eyes of the studio.

"We all want to be Batman alone at home in our specifically-sewn Bat pajammies, but no, I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this. Hopefully we'll get to do 'Deadpool' again. Given the fact that it's rated R, the fans have to show their support for it, and they have to come out and make it worthwhile for the studio to make another one, but that's it for me. I've punched that superhero card a few times now, and that's enough."

Do you think Reynolds is making the right decision, or would you like to see him suited up in yet another CBM at some point down the line? And should Deadpool get a sequel? You can check out the full interview below, and be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments!

Deadpool will storm into cinemas 12 February, 2016.
