Benedict Cumberbatch was fighting the KLINGON! They are masked like in the 2009 deleted scene.

The Japanese version of the trailer has an extra 15 seconds.

Man, I am the only one who felt the color palette was a bit too muted? One of the things I loved about the first film were the colors, it had "pop" to it; it looked beautiful to look at. This movie looks depressing. Sorry, I hate to nitpick here especially about an anticipated film like this. Hopefully the storyline is fantastic.
richal13 - 12/6/2012, 12:21 AM
That blonde chick looks like the blonde chick in where no man has gone before...so Gary Mitchell is the villain!

"Is there anything you would not do for your family?"
~ Villain

In the Japanese trailer, someone in a blue shirt is behind a glass... an almost Wrath Of Khan moment... Spock dies?

Uhura embraces a serious-faced Scotty... any other bets for who dies?

Okay, now I am really, really thinking that Cumberbatch is playing Khan. I mean, come ON-- "for I have returned to have my vengeance"?!? Gary Mitchell never went anywhere! But Khan was exiled from Earth in the late 20th century-- and so it's not unreasonable to assume that he'd have a bit of a grudge against his homeworld.

COME ON, ABRAMS-- JUST TELL US WHO THIS GUY IS ALREADY!!!

Wow! That was epic. It really was. And Cumberbatch? D@mn, man! He really gave off that deep, evil aura to him. I can't wait to see what kind [frick]ed up sh!t he'll cause in this film. So far, 2013 is most definitely shaping up to be a rich CBM filled year. We are so [frick]ing blessed with all of these bad@$$ CBMs. :D
Silentman - 12/6/2012, 12:30 AM
cumberbatch seems a bit...khanish
AsianVersionOfET - 12/6/2012, 12:31 AM
Pretty "meh" trailer.
smlshin - 12/6/2012, 12:33 AM
Has an Empire Strikes Back feel to it.
AmazingFantasy - 12/6/2012, 12:35 AM

Jolt17 - 12/6/2012, 12:37 AM
It's intense, it's beautiful, and...man, Cumberbatch. Star Trek Into Darkness will be epic.
gaikinger - 12/6/2012, 12:39 AM
i like it,,,,intense trailer.
AsianVersionOfET - 12/6/2012, 12:41 AM
@Farkosuarus, yeah. That effect was cool when Nolan first used it on the Inception trailers, and everyone has ripped it off since. [frick], they even stole the first poster for TDKR and just changed the title to Star Trek. Got some real creative minds out there.
95 - 12/6/2012, 12:44 AM
It's a very different Khan.
95 - 12/6/2012, 12:53 AM
@jrod79 I think it's consistent with the previous film... the sets and story just happen to be darker. I liked the 2009 film because it wasn't all too serious and was leaked brightness... but I think they definitely accomplished what they wanted with this sequel... bring it Into Darkness.
DCjohnny - 12/6/2012, 12:55 AM
great.... now only if man of steel trailer comes online it will be the best day of december.... of 2012
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 12/6/2012, 12:58 AM
If Marvel Studios didn't cast Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and was still searching for that actor to be casted as the character, Benedict Cumberbatch would have been an excellent candidate for Loki. It's not that I am not happy with Marvel Studios' casting choice for Loki, but after watching this trailer and seeing Cumbatch's character and how he's portrayed, I just thought of that. Does anyone else think/feel the same as me with that? :)
LP4 - 12/6/2012, 12:58 AM
It aint Khan. I can't seem to remember Khan being a white guy, nor can i remember him being a member of Starfleet. If it is Khan, IF then this film may cover the Eugenics war...snore.
Jolt17 - 12/6/2012, 1:04 AM
I think it's safe to say that Benedict is not Gary Mitchell. The character's been covered in the IDW series which expands the movie's alternate reality universe (I don't read it myself, but according to Wiki's, he's created by Nero in this continuity), and he also died there.

Which leaves us with only one option left, apparently...
D117 - 12/6/2012, 1:06 AM
This looks badass! Cumberbatch with the menacing voiceover, can't wait to see this.
95 - 12/6/2012, 1:09 AM
@LP4 Isn't Khan suppose to be "genetically engineered", or somethin'? There's a lot of rumors leading up to this pointing to Khan (Benicio casting). I guess they decided that Khan didn't have to be a certain race. Montalban is a Mexican and Khan is Mongol (or Indian... I think). In the last couple days I was hoping for that Gary Mitchell character... in the end, original character or one from the series... Benedict is bringing the wrath.
95 - 12/6/2012, 1:10 AM
@Jolt17 Interesting... another point to the Khan theory.
95 - 12/6/2012, 1:14 AM
I really didn't want Khan (if look back at my comments months ago). But I guess Abrams felt like he's Star Trek's The Joker. And based off the hell raising he did in the trailer, I'm fine with anything. Seriously guys, not much of Trek fan (although looking in to getting the Blu-rays for the series) — I'm pretty excited for this film. It might be the biggest scope film of the next year. Plus IMAX and that volcano scene.... *faint*

Okay the competition just got high than the weed can take you
