New Green Lantern Set Picture

A New Orleans resident spotted the production crew for the film at Lakefront Airport and managed to snap a quick picture; plus, NOLA natives get a heads up on filming-induced road closures

Early last month, it was revealed here at ComicBookMovie that Martin Campbell's Green Lantern will utilize the New Orleans Lakefront Airport as the set for the fictitious Ferris Aircraft airfield. The production crew even acquired several of the airport's empty hangers to help keep certain aspects of the film secret; such as Martin Jordan's Experimental Aircraft.

Last night, the cast and crew revisited the airport set to shoot a scene. A New Orleans resident who was passing by the airport witnessed the crew setting up and managed to grab a quick picture of the area.

According to NOLA.com, the production's high op-tempo will cause major traffic delays around the airport area over the next few weeks:

"Eastern New Orleans motorists can expect traffic delays for the next month and a half as film production activity closes the the Lakefront Airport Overpass between Hayne Boulevard and the Sen. Ted Hickey Bridge, more commonly known as the 'Seabrook Bridge.'

"The overpass will be closed to traffic starting tonight (May 18) and continuing through July 2, according to an advisory issued by the New Orleans Office of Film and Video.

"Through-traffic will be diverted to Hayne Boulevard and Downman Road."

Another rumor regarding Lakefront Airport, which is located at 6001 Stars and Stripes Blvd New Orleans, LA, is that a two-week long shoot revolving around a rooftop party scene with a few dozen extras will begin filming there within the next several days.

The party scene will supposedly be the first time the film's hero, Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds), will use his Green Lantern power ring in public; shocking his leading lady Carol Ferris (Blake Lively).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRIF
Upupandaway - 5/22/2010, 7:11 AM
I don't get the whole DC vs. Marvel thing. Both companies put out as much good stuff and crap. I'm more of a good story follower. All pictures show GL turning out pretty well visually. Can't wait to see it in action.
Angelus - 5/22/2010, 7:39 AM
I cannot wait for this movie! I NEED IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEWARE GREEN LANTERNS POWER NEXT FREAKING SUMMER!! =D
captquirk - 5/22/2010, 7:43 AM
I will say that I haven't seen much from DC's live action that I really liked... besides the Flash series. But they cancelled that in the first season. It figures that the closest they came to the comics, they ax. A wimpy Superman, they keep promoting. Batman/Superman is what 75% of the fans want, but they won't do it. I'll watch GL, but I doubt it will beat Marvel.
LEEE777 - 5/22/2010, 7:50 AM
GRIF @ Bah HUMBUG! : p

Nah HAPPY B-DAY man!!!

REDSTORM - 5/22/2010, 8:17 AM
WTF? I have no hope for the future if kids are like this... Seriously and they call US geeks?!?

On a side note: Maybe this means it'd be okay to go to college wearing a green lantern suit....
REDSTORM - 5/22/2010, 8:22 AM
Kind of like a picture of ICE, Marvelites?
MatchesMalone - 5/22/2010, 9:10 AM
Give me. A keg. Of beer.
batfan39 - 5/22/2010, 9:17 AM
When I was trying to "define myself" in highschool I wrote songs, and got really toasted a lot and fought anyone that questioned me. Wearing a tail never really came into it.
DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 10:14 AM
@teabag
Wow that must suck. I'm proud to be a virgin. :)
peterparker420 - 5/22/2010, 10:15 AM

DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 10:15 AM
F-ck Twilight
InTylerWeTrust - 5/22/2010, 10:45 AM
So Hal reveals that he's Green Lantern? Not sure if I like the way that sounds, and it seems a little "Iron Man-ish." I hope that doesn't happen.
PWhite - 5/22/2010, 11:16 AM
HAHAHA wolfpacks!?!?!?! Shocking theyre not walking around on all 4's. I say we all make a stand against these werewolves and vampire crap and wear capes!!! The lights look amazing by the way!
Casinoskunk - 5/22/2010, 11:21 AM
Too much New Orleans, not enough Outer Space.

I hope that Coast City doesn't just look like dumpy New Orleans.
Upupandaway - 5/22/2010, 12:17 PM
@SirPrize- I now pray for my children's future. My favorite part of the video is the girl that talks about gangs seeking attention. Your wearing a frickin' tail. I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for these kids.

and maybe it's not Twilight, but the Michael J. Fox movie.
InstigatorGIRL - 5/22/2010, 12:40 PM
Gawd I hate Twilight so damn much...

I also agree @Tea Since I'm more of a DC fangirl I am looking forward more to GL than Thor only because I don't know much about Thor. LOL. Still excited for both though.
DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 12:41 PM
Twilight turns preteens into mindless idiots. A couple days ago I was watching The Dark knight and my younger sister started saying that New Moon is way better than the dark knight because the dark knight doesn't have 'hawt guys' in it. She even said that Taylor Lautner is a billion times a better actor than Heath Ledger. Roflol.
InstigatorGIRL - 5/22/2010, 12:49 PM
@Starsapphire. LMAO! OMG. I have a WTF story too. I actually got inot a huge debate with my cousin on Why she thought Twilight was the greatest movie ever made. Her reason was... Edward and Jacob are just SO Hot...
DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 12:52 PM
@instigator
Yah. I don't think the Twitards even care about the actual plot, whether or not the movie is good, character development. As long as they get to see shirtless guys then it's the greatest movie ever in their air-filled heads.
InstigatorGIRL - 5/22/2010, 12:56 PM
Starsapphire. LMAO. Pretty much. Wanna hear something else funny as hell. Apparently when my hubby and I were at the theatre we were standing in line and the EMTs were called because some dumbass Twitard had an asthma attack during a scene when one of the guys were shirtless and she left her inhaler at home. And she was crying because they made her leave the movie even though she could've died. That's a bit much.
DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 12:59 PM
@instigator
WOW. I heard one time that a crazy twitard threw a pitcher of acid at a anti-twilight fan. Twitards can become very violent. I once got an apple and a textbook thrown at me for saying I didn't like Twilight. hell one of my old friends practically worshipped twilight. Oh and I found this vid:
InstigatorGIRL - 5/22/2010, 1:00 PM
@Starsapphire I wish I had a camera when a twilight lady threatened to kick my ass for bad mouthing the most original thing ever created. I told her seek help psycho. My husband told her his bowel movements were more original than that crap. LMAO.
DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 1:02 PM
@instigator
your husband speaks the truth. :)
InstigatorGIRL - 5/22/2010, 1:06 PM
LMAO@ Starsapphire. Yes he does. The look on her face was priceless.
DaenerysTargaryen - 5/22/2010, 1:06 PM

I bet it was. I can't wait till 2011 when the Twilight movie franchise finally ends. Then the Twilight craze will end. *everybody cheers*.

odie00 - 5/22/2010, 1:39 PM
oh my god i just watched that teen werewolves crap are you serious? man that just proves how stupid kids and teens are getting each passing generation, i mean im kind of stupid and ridiculous but damn.
Ranger14 - 5/22/2010, 2:01 PM
I am looking forward to Green Lantern and like DC and Marvel. I have no particular "loyalty" to either. Why can't one enjoy both? I do think they should have went Wonder Woman first, as main stream America is much more familiar with Wonder Woman, which makes it more marketable and could introduce people to the extended DC universe on the big screen. Most of the people I talk to don't have a clue who Green Lantern is and when I describe him to them and what he does, they still don't know who he is. Most know who Wonder Woman is.
RockNRollCC - 5/22/2010, 10:32 PM
@Sirprize

I just lost all hope for the future

bring on 2012, this generation of kids are FCKED!!!
LEEE777 - 5/23/2010, 3:50 AM
telavizion @ Thats pretty sad man, seriously your missing out!

DC is as rich as MARVEL even richer in some cases! I love MARVEL but luv DC just as much!!!

Theres so much out there dude, and I'm not just talking DC & MARVEL either!!!
