Deadpool would never get that R treatment with Marvel Studios though. Oh well.

From what we know, fox has the rights to EVERY MUTANT character in the marvel universe. I don't think Deadpool would have a different agreement than any other x-men or mutant character

Good.

I trust Marvel Studios over Fox.

the answer.........No
it's already been a few years and fox has produced nothing.

I'm down but I prefer Fox over Disney because I can't see Disney doing a Deadpool film.

I'd like all the Fox rights to go back to Marvel. Having said that, Marvel Studios can't really do anything with Deadpool if they don't have the rest of the X-Men rights, so it's just gonna sit in their vault indefinitely.

tvor03 - 7/16/2013, 12:35 PM
It all depends on if Deadpool was licensed as a separate property, or if was included as a X-Men related character like every other mutant. I'm guessing the latter happened.

If the rights to Deadpool revert back to Marvel then don't expect a movie about him period. There is no way Disney is going to push out a movie about the "Merc with the Mouth". And on top of that why would you want a Deadpool movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe without being able to reference any of the Xmen characters. The only benefit to that is being able to have Bob from Hydra in the movie.

@LEE777, it need REYNOLDS as close as possible.

Yeah, this doesn't make sense. Fox has the rights to every mutant character and they're not giving them up any time soon.

A censored Deadpool film at Disney would be poorly received, anyways.
WYLEEJAY
WYLEEJAY - 7/16/2013, 12:37 PM
The rights would have nothing to do with Mutants. Cause Deadpools not a Mutant. If Fox changes him into a Mutant though, then what? He was a Mutant in Origins, it was never said that he was, but you were left to assume he was since Team X was a Mutant team. Or do the rights have to do with the original incarnation of the character presented by Marvel in the comics? In that case Deadpools not a Mutant........I have a headache now....

@LucasMend @bythepowercosmic @tvor03: It's feasible, just not likely. Deadpool is not a Mutant.

Yeah FOX is not going to let these rights get back to Marvel anytime soon, hence the new X Men projects etc.....

Yeah. Marvel would never make an R-rated superhero movie:
Pulpit rock

Just...just go away.
LucasMend
LucasMend - 7/16/2013, 12:42 PM
Oh, I thought he was a mutant because of that teleportation power. Well, but who knows, maybe in fox contract he could be listed as a mutant and part of the x-men package.
DoctorDoak
DoctorDoak - 7/16/2013, 12:43 PM
This is the only case in which I don't want the rights to revert back to Marvel. The leaked script is perfect -- but it's something Marvel Studios would never produce. Fox just needs to get their act together and get things rolling.

And keep Reynolds on board. He had a hand in that amazing script. He was born to play this role.

Couldn't they literally just have Deadpool cameo in an X-men movie and be good?
PeterDarker

Am I the only one that knows there's a such thing as PG. It doesn't just skip from R to PG-13 guys. And...what exactly is Kick-Ass 2 rated again? Whats it's budget? Lawyerd. Go home.

A Deadpool movie will be crap any how and I'm a Deadpool fan but seriously he's a character that wouldn't work on the big screen without fans hating it.
126thst
126thst - 7/16/2013, 12:49 PM
1. A couple of years is plenty of time for them to do enough not to lose the rights.

2. If Marvel gets Deadpool back, he's never getting his own movie.
WarnerBrother

Deadpool isn't going anywhere.
ekrolo2
ekrolo2 - 7/16/2013, 12:51 PM
Deadpool isn't getting his movie even if Marvel Studios gets him back, hell you'd have more like with the people over at HBO or AMC with making something Deadpool related thats R than you will with Disney or Fox.

PeterDarker
PeterDarker - 7/16/2013, 12:55 PM
@INSTANTJUSTICE,@TheDpool, Reese and Wernick (the guys that wrote the script) said it could be made for $50 million. And said it's their best work ever (which I totally agree). And said that if anyone saw the test footage, fans would demand it be made.

It cracks me up that people keep acting like disney is going to do anything to mess with the cash cow known as Marvel. if they wanted to do a deadpool film they could do it, they were making pg -13 movies way before disney came along.

@126thst, tell that to Daredevil.
PaulRom
PaulRom - 7/16/2013, 12:58 PM
That would be very interesting to say the least. However, I'm sure Fox will use Deadpool rather soon with a full-on X-Men Cinematic Universe kicking off. I'd be shocked if he isn't in the X-Force movie.
TheMadman
TheMadman - 7/16/2013, 12:59 PM
Y'know, Disney could produce an R-Rated Deadpool film. They own Miramax - a Marvel Studios/Miramax production for Deadpool really doesn't sound bad.
Batarangmandan
Batarangmandan - 7/16/2013, 12:59 PM
Even though he's not a mutant he's still traditionally associated with the X-Men.To be honest though, Deadpool seems to be more his own entity these days rather than someone tied to the X-Men.

Marvel Studios will probably eventually branch out to R rated movies. They did used to own Miramax studios, who published Kevin Smith films.

The main reason they don't is because they are aiming to release two films a year and of course they aiming to build the more franchise friendly in the beginning. It's just a matter of when they start releasing more a year and financing cheaper films.

Short term Deadpool would probably work better at Fox, providing they don't mess him up as bad as last time. He's just more likely to get used, since he's one of the more popular characters they own. It would probably be a while before we saw him again if his rights reverted.I do think it's ultimately better for everything to go back to Marvel long term.

I wouldn't mind seeing him on TV though, I think it would work perfectly for him.
