It was obvious from the beginning that it was a joke, but idiots around the 'Net, including this site, blew shit WAY out of proportion.

It just showed how ignorant, gullible, and immature some people really are.

Show how immature people like Levi really are.

Gay blasting like some kind of homophobe. All men and women are EQUAL! That was his point from the beginning.

Grow up.

He was joking fine but it's still a touchy subject.
It doesn't matter that tolerance of gay rights is becoming more mainstream, the vast majority of people are heterosexual.

When a famous person says anything against the norm, joking or not, many people can & will be offended or take issue with that subject.
It's just the way it is & always will be.

People taking it seriously, says a lot about the kind of fans that get vocal. It says a lot about people who can't understand a simple joke but attempt to apply logic to their arguments against the topic.

How about you go back and see what I write before you start blasting me like that TheWebSlinger.

I had no problem with gay people and support gay rights. My thing is you don't change the sexuality of a comic for 50 years.

You want a gay Spidey? Create a gay Spidey. Don't be using Peter Parker.

I actually agree with Levi on this, I hate when movies change up the stories/characters we grew up with in the comics! Just create a new story don't mess with the characters and stories that's like messing with art or changing history! You just don't do it! I know directors just want to make their version/vision of the movie that people would remember them for but why not do it like Joss Whedon or like Nolan's movies instead of changing everything and erasing every trace of its history from the comics!

Well, Mr. Garfield, let me just say its not very surprising since:

A) People take EVERYTHING too serious nowadays. Remember what happened to Rolling Stone?

B) A good solid portion of ASM fans are adolesent boys, and as we all know, adolescent boys are the most homophobic people on Earth.

Aparently people cant joke around anymore without sending others into caniption fits.

Did you not hear what he said to start. It was obviously not "tongue n cheek" but rather how he truly feels. But got a lot of flack and the studio had him back off. Then he says he was "kidding" about something he is obviously adamant about. Someone who feels strongly about gay rights is not going to "make a joke" about Spider-Man being gay. He put it out there caught hell and retracted. Can't blame him for taking a shot.

Anything he is trying to say is destroyed when he calls himself middle class lmao. How many of you watched this and how many are just commenting because Khan said it was a joke
Ocelot
Ocelot - 7/20/2013, 7:59 AM
He's right people took it too seriously and it was clearly a joke however the nature and sensitivity of the comment meant that it was always going to happen and he damn well knew it would, he's not stupid. The end result was publicity and news coverage of the comment and the actual film.
