Thunderbolts Film Ideas

To give y'all a break from the X-Men Timeline and Thor 3 articles, here's my take on the potential Thunderbolts movie of the MCU.

The above fan-made poster isn't mine, I found it on google.

James Gunn has expressed interest in helming a Thunderbolts film. Depending on the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, that might be a likely possibility. For those that don’t know, the Thunderbolts are a team of reformed super-villains who do missions in exchange for their freedom. If DC is more your thing, think of them as the Suicide Squad of Marvel. The recent incarnation, however, has been portrayed as a strike force with no government ties. I think it would be best if Marvel combined these elements into a film. Here are the characters I think should be in the film.

MEMBERS:
(Note: I think it might be interesting to see if they found characters that matched The Avengers)
(* Indicates Potential Leader)

*General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross- No doubt in prison after the events of The Incredible Hulk, this version of Ross would be better suited as a behind-the-scene leader. Since he isn’t Red Hulk, it makes sense not to have him on the front lines, but still in contact and giving orders. In the comics, he is the leader of the current roster. Having the team name be your nick name doesn’t hurt either.
Avenger Counterpart: Nick Fury

*Lieutenant Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes/Iron Patriot/War Machine- While not a villain, he is an excellent choice for a member or leader. Some fans, including myself, were disappointed that he didn’t get to do more in Iron Man 3. I’m not sure what his future holds, or if he’ll appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Avengers: Age of Ultron, but, he would definitely get his chance to shine in this role.
Avenger Counterpart: Captain America/Iron Man

*James “Bucky” Barnes/Winter Soldier- I think it’s a safe bet that Bucky won’t die in Cap 2. If they’re going the route of redeeming villains, then he is another great choice. Again, we don’t know his future as far as A:AoU goes, but with Sebastian Stan allegedly having 4 films left in his contract, one could be Thunderbolts. No doubt will he be popular, and why not give him his own team? Maybe even a solo film.
Avenger Counterpart: Captain America/Black Widow

Emil Blonsky/Abomination- A villain who definitely needs redemption, the last time we saw Blonsky, he was being carted away after the destruction of Harlem. If a situation gets too hairy, they would at least have one super powered member.
Avenger Counterpart: Hulk

Frank Castle/The Punisher- On the current comic roster, Punisher is a character many fans have wanted to be done properly on film. Who knows how Marvel will introduce him, but this might be a clever way. He once was a soldier, so SHIELD gives him this job in hopes he’ll die as a way to avenge his war on crime. He could be what Wolverine was in X1; a rogue who reluctantly follows orders. Also, fans get a chance to see Frank do what he does best.
Avenger Counterpart: Hawkeye? (No powers, signature weapon that seems ridiculous when you have an Iron Man on the team)

OTHER CHARACTERS:

Hawkeye and Black Widow- They could lead the team, be on the team, whatever. They are already SHIELD agents and need no set up or origin story.

Blade- Badass character, weapons expert. Not sure how he would be placed on this team unless they stay away from the reforming villain plot.

Crossbones- Not sure if he’ll survive Cap 2, but if he does, we could possibly see him end up here. He has been on some comic rosters.

Luke Cage- Former felon, former leader (in comics), confirmed to be on TV show.

What do you guys think? Anyone who should be on the team or shouldn't? Any other suggestions/ideas? By the way, I have an X-Men Timeline article up and am working on a Thor 3 one.

Awesome ideas I like anti heroes and a thunderbolts movie would be great to see personally I want to see the strike force version of the team but I wouldn't mind seeing the villains redeeming themselves

Don't forget Elektra she's back with Marvel/Disney now.
This is an awesome idea and the team you put would work really well.
It would be like an R rated Expendables style Avengers. If they made this movie... OMG.
