Warner Bros. Says There Is "No Truth" To The New Audio Mix For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Well, that was fast. Yesterday, it was reported that Warner Brothers have changed (cleaned up) the audio for The Dark Knight Rises IMAX prologue, so people could understand Bane in the film, since there were many complaints about that. And now it seems that is not true after all.

From The New York Times writer Dave Itzkoff (via The Playlist):

"Warner Bros. says "no truth" to reports of new Dark Knight Rises prologue trailers going out with fixed Bane audio."

Starring Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Morgan Freeman, The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit theatres on July 20, 2012.

headlopper - 1/3/2012, 11:49 AM
What a surprise....
HelaGood - 1/3/2012, 11:50 AM
GOOD!!! there realy isnt anything wrong with it! AND Nolan shouldnt be tweaking his voice at this point just to please a few dumbasses who cant hear.
JatevinM - 1/3/2012, 11:50 AM
Thank goodness because personally I like his voice and found it to be quite intimidating.
HelaGood - 1/3/2012, 11:51 AM
now on to the REAL issue... his costume... can they tweak that in post now??? lol

jbak368 - 1/3/2012, 11:51 AM
I didn't see it in IMAX but I was able to understand Bane fine on the bootleg. Never expected Nolan to change a thing.
CaptainTall - 1/3/2012, 11:52 AM
I love the voice.
DocDrop - 1/3/2012, 11:53 AM
I think it sounds cool. Not British like people were saying, more German or Eastern European.
Christuffer - 1/3/2012, 11:56 AM
LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Next....Bane Dubstep ftw
nailbiter111 - 1/3/2012, 12:01 PM
hey Warner Bros. let's just ignore the proof
headlopper - 1/3/2012, 12:07 PM
@Nomis- You have no idea how funny that is!(NOT sarcasm)
PapaMidnight - 1/3/2012, 12:07 PM
@Ruka, pervertido e esquizóide!!! huahauhau
transforminator - 1/3/2012, 12:08 PM
i really have no problem with his voice whatsoever
ironknight - 1/3/2012, 12:09 PM
The fact is that there are a number of people that cannot or have trouble understanding him. Even if you yourself can, its probably a good idea to fix it. Because as many of us forget, Nolan is not perfect.
KobraKai - 1/3/2012, 12:10 PM
Don't be so quick to debunk this. TheFilmStage tweeted that NYTimes guy back.

TheFilmStage The Film Stage
@ditzkoff viewers have seen both and reporting that it is indeed a much cleaner version. Looks like they just don't want to own up.
WellDrawn - 1/3/2012, 12:12 PM
Why would they 'fix' it? It's really not that hard to understand, especially if you've seen the high quality prologue.
grifter - 1/3/2012, 12:13 PM
I enjoy his voice. All that is left is for my to buy the tickets and enjoy this last film in the Nolan trilogy. Hell who knows? Maybe if WB throws enough money at Nolan, he'll come back for a fourth.
GeneralZod1138 - 1/3/2012, 12:13 PM
I think his voice is perfect. Knew this would be debunked sooner or later.
TrueRedBlue - 1/3/2012, 12:15 PM
There's nothing wrong with the voice! I heard it just fine. The prologue's voice was a bit misunderstandable at times because it was caught on a camera. Stop trying to nitpick at the movie. If I can understand, so can you..
INSTANTJUSTICE - 1/3/2012, 12:21 PM
"It never happened, it's just that you're hearing different" -exec.
MarkV - 1/3/2012, 12:22 PM
Love the new Bane. He seems quite scarey. I like that his voice sounds like he's damaged in some frightening manner.
Supes17 - 1/3/2012, 12:28 PM
makes sense. Why would they re-edit the footage and re-send it to theaters?
hoodedjester - 1/3/2012, 12:31 PM
I think I have listened to it 5 or 6 times and I haven't had any trouble hearing what he was saying. Glad to hear this is a rumour as Nolan has already said No to making changes to it.

Tho, the music volume could be pulled back a bit in the trailer.
drfate - 1/3/2012, 12:33 PM
I could barely understand Bane too. You shouldn't have to struggle and guess to understand a performance. I don't mind a gruff voice, but it is unintelligible. I hope they find a good balance before the release date.
dahamma - 1/3/2012, 12:39 PM
Nooooo!! sigh Man I cant say it gonna be bad but some bits in the prologue it was not clear like What does he say before he says "we need to know what he(dr Povel) said about us?"

I just hope while watching the movie I dont miss important points because of his voice. I just wanna lean back and watch the epic conclusion of B man easily.
PapaMidnight - 1/3/2012, 12:41 PM
@Ruka, cuidado com essa tua olhota! os caras tão putos aqui! cadê minha advertência??? huahua
ISleepNow - 1/3/2012, 12:42 PM
@nailbiter111
Looks like the left hand knows not what the right hand is doing
GeneralZod1138 - 1/3/2012, 12:48 PM
I agree if they want to change ANYTHING, maybe pull back the music/background while he talks a bit. But his voice itself is fine.
DCnerd46 - 1/3/2012, 12:49 PM
Ugh.
DiamondQuinn - 1/3/2012, 12:50 PM
I agree with GeneralZod1138. I saw this in IMAX and his voice was great but the additional noise from the plane/music, etc. kinda drowned him out in a couple of small places. If anything, just tweak the sounds levels.
TheSkywalkingKnight - 1/3/2012, 12:54 PM
Anybody who couldn't hear him is clearly deaf!

TheSkywalkingKnight - 1/3/2012, 12:55 PM
BTW. That's the Montage from the prologue with High-Quality audio!
Supes17 - 1/3/2012, 1:07 PM
That looks awesome, Irish!
I've been trying to find an hq version of the prologue but they all get taken down
Fogs - 1/3/2012, 1:09 PM
No problem with his voice. I find it pretty awesome, to be honest.
Supes17 - 1/3/2012, 1:09 PM
I saw it in IMAX, and I understood everything...
So..if you guys have only seen low-quality bootlegs, Quit yo bitchin'.
I still think it needs some editing
Supes17 - 1/3/2012, 1:09 PM
but nothing major
GUNSMITH - 1/3/2012, 1:10 PM
HE HAS A THING OVER HIS MOUTH HOW DO YOU WANT HIM TO SOUND LIKE? T PAIN AND AUTOTUNED? OR DARTH VADER..??
NeoBaggins - 1/3/2012, 1:20 PM
@Trude LMFAO!!! I can hear Bill saying that when I look at that picture.

It's a win a win. Nothing critical was wrong with the voice to begin with, and any improvement is an improvement. Either way, BANE is a BOUWSS.
Godzillafart - 1/3/2012, 1:46 PM
I could understand Bane just as well as everyone else in the clip. The audio wasn't great but I think that has to do with the quality of the clip. So far, I think Bane looks top notch.
AsianVersionOfET - 1/3/2012, 1:47 PM
His voice is PERFECT. This is good news.
Xeetor - 1/3/2012, 1:47 PM
"Did we start the fire?"
"RED RUUMMMM! RED RUUUMMMM!"
DioFoRio - 1/3/2012, 2:18 PM
@intruder...it's deep for people who never watch anything else. It's deep because people tell them it's deep. It's deep because some of these people have a 3rd grade reading level of comprehension. I like BB wasn't a fan of TDK...and sue me I'm looking forward to TDKR..but for it's level of "depth"? LOL. no. They say it's deep to make themselves feel smart..That's like saying Inception was "deep". I remember when it came out all the hoopla about people dissecting it. So when I watched it I payed attention...and for what? It was a straight forward movie. Nothing that made me "think" about it or need to discuss it beyond "hey that was a cool flick" People crack me up. And it's people like that that make me wish we still had Carnivorous land predators to thin the herd. Ya heard?
blueorangeny - 1/3/2012, 2:23 PM
Nice, I'm glad they didn't fix it to please some people. I say it's perfect and nice take to it. If you can hear, then make appointments with your doctors. Let them check you out.
Ranger14 - 1/3/2012, 2:28 PM
Intruder@ It's deep because all the villains have been changed to Nolan's version of the character, so you have to figure out who and what the villain really is and why it is okay to be so different than the source. Some people like to think about all that stuff and to each their own. All the power to them. I just want to go enjoy a movie with my favorite comic book heroes and villains.
Luminus - 1/3/2012, 2:30 PM
I watched it this weekend in IMAX and couldn't understand the vast majority of his dialogue. The problem is with all the noise going on in the background. Clearly some of these theaters have their audio tuning screwed up, with effects and music turned up to the same level as dialogue. This is why some of you have no issue understanding him, while others do. I point to bootleg versions having Bane's voice sound clear because the audio issue is not present. Just train the theater projector handler to tune the audio better, instead of tuning it for Transformers movies (which, by the way, requires no need to hear dialogue since there is none of meaningful value).
GiftedYoungster - 1/3/2012, 2:37 PM
I haven't seen the prologue yet, but I can't blame them. That'd probably be an expensive endeavor.
Viking - 1/3/2012, 2:46 PM
Yes thank you !!! Nolan is a damn Mastermind let him do his THAANG! This is bullshieet stop making things up. I love the voice.

English is my second language and i have no problemo what so ever to understand him, people are just trolling.

It was kinda hard to understand him when the bootleg version of the Prologue arrived, but that's because the quality was really bad you have to consider that, i barely understood what the CIA agent was saying. Now that it's out in better quality(still cam version though) i find him really easy to understand.
Luminus - 1/3/2012, 2:49 PM
People are just trolling because they had a different experience than you? Get serious.
Ceejay - 1/3/2012, 2:55 PM
Seriously, why is this such a big issue on this site and no place else on the internet?

Editors need to forget this nit-picker crap and movie on!
