The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Sally Field and Martin Sheen, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to hit theatres on July 3rd, 2012.

prettynuclear2 - 6/18/2012, 4:29 PM
That one line about being good enough is better than the entire Spider-Man 2.
PantherX - 6/18/2012, 4:29 PM
Please don't suck.

Gwen and Peter's relationship onscreen really show's not only how well they are as Actor's/Actress but their chemistry too. Absolutely perfect duo for the roles.

Wasn't that excited when I heard about the reboot.....now with what I've seen, pretty damn stoked!Fingers crossed that the overall quality stands up to the other "two" big CBM's this year.

^Do you ever post anything not completely idiotic??
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/18/2012, 4:54 PM

Early word on Spides:

The Amazing Spider-Man screened in New York last week. There were a handful who liked it (mostly people you never heard of, to be frank), a few who felt it was forgettable and unnecessary, and some who hated it. The biggest Spider-Man fan I know found it to be a travesty. But most important: all of the changed origin stuff is gone. The bits about Peter's dad manipulating his genetic code is out, meaning there now is NO "Untold Story."

@Dev: Yes. He's not quite nocternal like Batman
95 - 6/18/2012, 5:24 PM
When I pretend The Lizard's not there, this film looks great.
kingshnake - 6/18/2012, 5:44 PM
Yea where is that hipsterman? I think the last few TDKR tv spots put him in his hipster place. I like the look of this movie but Garfield is just a bit too old and a bit too handsome, but he's nailing the part :p
kingshnake - 6/18/2012, 5:45 PM
does Grif like any CBMs?

Grif, wolfx, loganxx36 and the Nolanites.
when you decide to jump ship after realizing this movie is going to (more than likely) kick ass like avengers - for the record, you can still go [frick] yourselves.

did someone say they heard Tobey crying?

superotherside - 6/18/2012, 5:59 PM
Best spot so far IMO!
kingshnake - 6/18/2012, 6:01 PM
I bet Garfield's too hipster to pull off the raw emotion Tobey shows here ^ way to go tobey showing peter's still in touch with his feminine side Garfield just tenses his abs at emma stone
Tony93 - 6/18/2012, 6:03 PM
Tom Hiddleston tweeted he heard the film was "tremendous" and that he is dying to see it..
Ranger14 - 6/18/2012, 6:22 PM
Still not digging the shiny/rubbery looking suit and "held back" high schooler look.

Eh, I think you'll find that no one said the stuff about the parents wasn't in the film. Please read.
Spidey31 - 6/18/2012, 7:21 PM

the beavis and butthead of comicbookmovie.com

anyways that was a good trailer not mind blowing but good.
Nicksta411 - 6/18/2012, 7:48 PM
@INSTANTJUSTICE

.... Are you stupid.... that makes absolutely no sense, if that was the case Peter Would not be going out to find Connors, because he is seeking Connors to find out more about his dad and his involvement with Oscorp... "meaning there now is NO "Untold Story." pretty sure that is an untold story, DURR. and they are not going to cut out a huge part of this story because it jumpstarts the reboot. Just a Reminder Badass Digest is not a reliable source material, considering whoever wrote that article sounded like a 12 year old.
mgeoff88 - 6/18/2012, 7:54 PM
That was a very cool TV spot. Andrew Garfield is a great fit for Peter Parker.

From the other trailers and TV spots, I like that Spider-Man will have more quips in this movie. That was one of the things I felt was missing in Sam Raimi's movies.
brewtownpsych - 6/18/2012, 8:01 PM
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...

we've seen this all before. not to mention lizard looks like something out of a video game and spider-man is basically a comedian. that may work in the comics but how do you take a movie like this seriously. dennis leary as the head cop? wtf. cast is a ragtag list of b actors. all the clips so far look like extended jokes or are filled with cookie cutter dialogue.

just another kids' movie.
Nicksta411 - 6/18/2012, 8:12 PM
@brewtownpsych

yes, Sally Field-B List Actor has a nice ring to it..

Andrew Garfield is a crically aclaimed A List actor. People want him in his movies, nominated for an oscar and a tony...
Emma Stone, one of the best actresses of the new generation
Sally Field, one of the best actresses from the past OSCAR WINNER

The cast for this movie is amazing, and definitely not "Rag Tag"
ItsATrap - 6/18/2012, 8:26 PM
"greatness." "responsibility."
i see what you did there 8)
TheBatman50k - 6/18/2012, 8:27 PM
.........Huh.........that was the first T.V spot since THE FIRST TRAILER that I have actually liked, Peter Parker didnt look like a jerk and the chemistry seemed alright.
Nicksta411 - 6/18/2012, 9:16 PM
@Intruder...

I know she is incredible, I was being sarcastic... LOL
thisheart - 6/18/2012, 9:29 PM
@tony93 that gif of Tobey crying is gold.

@spidey91, actually if this were comic accurate then Spidey would be full-grown (didn't "the amazing spiderman" take place when Pete was older?) Maybe I'm getting gusto senile, I dunno.

All I know is I love Emma Stone. Bazinga!
Tony93 - 6/18/2012, 9:51 PM
Watching Spiderman 2 :D
Ranger14 - 6/18/2012, 10:02 PM
"actually if this were comic accurate then Spidey would be full-grown (didn't "the amazing spiderman" take place when Pete was older?) Maybe I'm getting gusto senile, I dunno. "

This is an origin story, regardless of what the title is, but The Amazing Spiderman did cover his time in Midtown High School. Technically, Gwen did not appear in the comic until Parker started attending Empire State University.
jumpingJellybeans - 6/18/2012, 10:23 PM
@INSTANT JUSTICE Uhhmmm, I could buy that... although it wasn't screened in New York (It was screened in Japan, so not even close) and the response was almost entirely positive (Again, not even close). Those 2 reviews you mentioned were the ONLY ones out of the hundreds of positive reactions ON TWITTER. So they weren't even reviews, just reactions. And not even general reactions either, unless you count "general" as 2 out of a hundred and fifty.
