Too be honest, I don't think FLCL should ever be made into a live-action movie. Stemming from Lord Canti, to Amarao's eyebrows. It just wouldn't work. But its always fun to fancast.

DIRECTOR/PRODUCER
As for director, I'm going with David Fincher. He'd easily be able to transfer the tone of the anime. I don't exactly know about his visual abilities, and the anime is heavy on their visuals. So I'm going with Brad Bird as producer. If an FLCL movie ever happens, heres to hoping.


JOEL COURTNEY as NAOTA NANDABA


This was a tough choice. There are a lot of child actors, but few who could possess Naota's angst and anger. Courtney is one of the few who I think could.


LINDY BOOTH as HARUKO HARUHARA


This one was no contest. Booth looks the part down to a T, and could probably possess the spontaneity and pure lunacy that is Haruko.


ELLEN PAGE as MAMIMI SAMEJIMA


Probably the hardest one. She looks like Mamimi enough, or at least could. She's also not terrible at serious roles.


MATTHEW FOX as COMMANDER AMARAO


Honestly, I couldn't think of another actor who could do it as well as him. Hes perfect for the serious guy who you don't want to take seriously. As for the eyebrows, CGI exists for a reason.


SELENA GOMEZ as LIEUTENANT KITSURUBAMI


Another hard one. It was between her and Michelle Rodriguez. But I think Selena Gomez possesses the younger and more mature qualities needed.


ELLE FANNING as ERI NINAMORI

Dye her hair black, give her glasses, and you have Ninamori.

@TankD Are you crazy? Keanu Reeves as Spike is a terrible idea. Go with somebody who's younger and who can actually act, like Ia Solmerhalder or Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I haven't heard of this anime, but this cast is pretty good.

that Lindy Booth chic is hot. After looking at a few pics of her, if she's a good actress, I'd say she'd make a lovely Jean Grey!

nice awesome cast, FLCL is one hell of quirky Anime, honestly don't think it should be adapted but this cast is quite awesome.

@MrBlueSky I have to say I agree with you on your choices for Spike either Somerhalder or JGL would be awesome for the role. I would be interested to see your fan cast for Cowboy Bebop

I love this anime, since its so awesomely crazy and random. I really don't think the all-over-the-place tone could translate well to film, but damn, they could try.

- Joel Courtney was awesome in Super 8. He can pull Naota off perfectly.
- Lindy might be too old, but then again she still looks very young. I just kinda wonder how the relationship between those two would play out in a Western setting (since we'd be screaming "BAD TOUCH" like crazy on that one).
- Ellen is perfectly cute, but I kinda feel someone with a more naturally "out there" daydreamer look would be better suited for Mami-chan.
- Matthew Fox as Amuro = priceless. XD
- Hmmm, I'll admit, Selena is growing on me as an actress (though I still find her music subpar). I can see her as Kitsurubami.
- Well, Elle and Joel have already displayed great chemistry together on Super 8, so I can see this play well.
