According to what Schmoes Know have gathered from their trusted sources, Dimension Films are awaiting a screenplay that is due on Fall 2015. That screenplay is for none other than the next installment in the Halloween franchise, Halloween: The Next Chapter. The report states that Patrick Lussier's and Todd Farmer's intended Halloween II (2009) sequel, Halloween 3D, has been completely scrapped and that Dimension films is going for a fresh take on the long running horror franchise. While The Next Chapter won't be a direct sequel to Rob Zombie's reboot series, it won't be a complete reboot either. It will, however, lead the franchise in a new direction. It is unknown whether or not Scout Taylor Compton will reprise her role as Laurie Strode in this movie. Because Dimension Films has yet to make an official announcement themselves, this information must be taken as a grain of salt for right now.

So what do you guys think? Do you hope this report turns out to be correct and that the script gets greenlit? Would you rather see a direct sequel to the Rob Zombie films, instead of a fresh take? Do you want to see Scout Taylor Compton return? Are you done with the franchise all together? Let me know below!

The original was about thrills and suspense. The Rob Zombie series just destroyed that by making him some giant brute. People watch these movies to be filled with suspense, not to just watch some huge guy kill somebody.

Or, you know, you could just put the time, effort, and money in a new horror project rather than one that's been run into the ground and then some. That might work out well. Or you could just keep beating a dead horse, a horse that everybody is sick of seeing, that works too... I guess.

The reason these movies will never be as good, is because they'll never be scary again. Made too many of them. I wouldn't mind another VS. movie.

They need to focus on the stalking aspect and make you uneasy about where he is.

Also give him no explanation whatsoever. We fear the unknown, keep it that way.

@DudeGuyMan

I really dug Sinister too. I thought it was really creative especially with the home movies and that part gave me chills the first time. I literally said "Oh [frick] No". I really hope quality horror makes a comeback.

@AsgardianHobo

I felt the same. I could never get into the reboot for those reasons. Hope that the next movie can at least bring back the level of intensity and suspense that it once had.

If Rob Zombie's not attached then it has quite a good chance. I'm intrigued.

Zombie lost me with Halloween II....that was just a weird [frick]ing movie. I love the bloodiness and gore of Zombie's Halloween movie and how imposing Michael was.....but that's about. I hated Loomis, he was a dickhead and I hated the chick who played Laurie and how she portrayed her. It was far from Halloween for me

I hope it's not as terrible as the Rob Zombie films. Those were abominations to the original IMO. That's my two cents worth.
