UPDATE: Jeremy Renner in Talks to Play Hawkeye
In this month's Empire, the actor said that he is in talks to play Clint Barton in Thor and The Avengers!
Best known for his role in 'The Hurt Locker' the actor has revealed that he's had talks with Marvel about filling the tights of the skilled archer Hawkeye with a possible cameo in 'Thor' leading to a full blown role in 'The Avengers'!
"Hawkeye could be interesting. They're going to send me some stuff on it, see what it is." But I think they're pretty awesome, trying to make superhero movies almost plausible and not just some fantasy thing."
Though the actor obviously hasnt actually taken the role yet, this news seems to confirm that we will see the character on the big screen within the next few years!
UPDATE: From Empireonline.com
Empire have released the details of this interview on their website, with a few more quotes from Renner. Turns out he was rumored for the role of Captain America first, and thats the direction the Empire boys went with the questions, Hawkeye was a nice surprise!
“I don’t know if I’d be right for Captain America. I met with the Marvel guys, actually, but we didn’t talk about Captain America. But one of the writers, Zak Penn, we’ve become friends over time and he was thinking maybe Hawkeye could be interesting. He sounds like an interesting character.”
“If I was a betting man, I would bet that Hawkeye would probably show up in Thor, and then be in The Avengers,” he said. “But do I know for sure? I can’t say. But I’d love for that to happen. It’d be fun.”
“No offer has been made,” he confirmed. “I think there’s a little ways from that.”
“I’m just happy to get considered for big franchise roles like that,” he said. “I’m not [doing the] casting. If they see me that way, right on. If they don’t, I’m ok with it.”
Rorschach01..So, still no confirmation for Renner, but I'll take his bet that we will be seeing Hawkeye in some form(I hope!)
