IGN report that during last night's premiere screening of Batman: Year One, executive producer Bruce Timm revealed the next wave of DC universe animated features. The first, Justice League: Doom, we already knew about. The next was an adaptation of one-shot Superman story, Superman vs. The Elite. Pretty good so far, eh?

Well, here's something even more exciting. The third movie they'll be releasing in 2012 is none other than Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, it's first ever two-parter. "It's going to be very, very faithful to the comic," Timm thankfully promised the lucky fans in attendance. No further details were revealed, although a question from the audience did prompt voice director Andrea Romano to say they would consider using Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for the voices of Batman and the Joker.

Other bits of info which were let slip during the Q&A included Timm saying that The Killing Joke HAS been considered (but is not currently being worked on) and that Kingdom Come will probably never be produced in the form of an animated movie. "It's just not made for 2D animation. It's not a good fit."
