Marion Cotillard Says Her Character Is NOT From The Comics; Does This Mean No Talia Al Ghul? Marion Cotillard Says Her Character Is NOT From The Comics; Does This Mean No Talia Al Ghul?

When it was announced that Marion Cotillard would be playing Miranda Tate, many assumed it was a cover, especially after some revealing set photos. However, the actress says she's NOT from the comics seemingly debunking Talia rumors...

While many have doubted that the actress would only be playing "Miranda Tate" in The Dark Knight Rises, set photos featuring her character seemingly on the side of Bane, made it seem even less likely that she wouldn't be in the long rumored role of Talia Al Ghul. Well, here's what she had to say when quizzed recently by MTV News...

"Well, actually, it was not based off of a character in the comic." she revealed when they asked whether she looked to the comic books for inspiration while playing the mysterious Miranda Tate. When they pressed her for details and asked if she was telling us the truth, she replied with a smile: "Yes, I am."

And if they catch up with her this time next year, will they have caught her out in a lie? "No," she said emphatically. "No!"

"It's amazing to work on Christopher Nolan's set. I'm so happy that I'm working with him again. I could do tons of movies with him. It's a huge project, but at the same time, it's like a family crew. He's worked with them for such a long time, so you really feel like you're on a family set."

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Glad they pressed her on whether or not she was telling the truth. It'd be weird for her to say now that she won't be playing a character from the comics, but a year later she ends up playing Talia. :P
Great find Josh.

Um... Obviously if she said her character isn't from the comics then that means she is not Talia. Just because you think that she means her Miranda Tate character isn't from the comic books and that she isn't talking about her "secret character", that would be wrong due to the fact that even with a different name, she is playing the same character.

Sorry guys, Nolan strikes again

MAYBE Talia lost her memory? and becomes Miranda Tate ... then she gets her memory back and becomes Talia at the end!?!? - god knows. I just hope she is.

On the bright side, if Talia is not in this movie, at the very least this should put a damper on the Spider-Man 3 comparisons.

However, I'm not sure the trilogy can really come 'full circle' without Talia.

ANYWAY, people saying she's 'definitely not' shouldn't be so confident. Ra's al Ghul was 'Henri Ducard' throughout most of Batman Begins after all, whats to say his daughter can't have the same double-identity thing going on? Like daughter like father.
