According to a scoop from El Mayimbe at Latino Review, Oswald aka the Penguin will be the first Gotham City villain to appear in the FOX television show GOTHAM. FOX is currently casting the role. However it is still not known whether we will be seeing Mr. Cobblepot as himself or whether he will adopt the name The Penguin on the show.

What are your thoughts on the news? Who do you think FOX should audition to play Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot?

Character Description: The Penguin is a supervillain who is known as one of Batman's oldest and most persistent enemies. Artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger introduced him in Detective Comics #58 (December 1941). The Penguin is a short, rotund man known for his love of birds and his specialized high-tech umbrellas. A mobster and thief, he fancies himself as being a "gentleman of crime;" his nightclub business provides a cover for criminal activity, which Batman sometimes uses as a source of criminal underworld information.

Funny, when I saw Oswald, a character in his 20's I automatically thought of Patton Oswald. He'd be perfect for the role!

SuperGuy83 - 1/25/2014, 10:27 PM
Ill Watch The Dark Knight Trilogy rather than this crap
MrMartinMarvel - 1/25/2014, 10:31 PM
Awesome if true, but then again it is El Mayimbe.
npamusic - 1/25/2014, 10:32 PM
Can we petition to get Patton in the role?

Seems appropriate to have the penguin as the first villain. Batman should cut his teeth on on easy non-metahuman target.
superherofan21 - 1/25/2014, 10:37 PM
I think it'd be cool to see Oswald start out as a lowly mobster and then slowly work his way to becoming the crime boss we all know and love him as.
DarthBacchus - 1/25/2014, 10:41 PM
The Cobblepots are a prominent family in Gotham City so it makes sense

JARED HARRIS!!!

Some short and in his 20s...this is who i thought off...
rabid - 1/25/2014, 10:51 PM
Of course! Oswald's dad was the one who had Thomas and Martha murdered to pave the way for his mayoral bid.
Holmes - 1/25/2014, 10:52 PM
Superhero TV shows just dont compare to the movies, id rather watch those.
batz11 - 1/25/2014, 10:52 PM
Ratatouille? Ok...
xfan320 - 1/25/2014, 10:54 PM

sameoldthing - 1/25/2014, 11:02 PM
Is Batman going to be in this show?
If not..Why have his villains?
Super12 - 1/25/2014, 11:03 PM
Perfect. Exactly the villain I was hoping we'd get, I love it.
MementoMori - 1/25/2014, 11:04 PM
Jonah Hill? That's inspired casting, which oddly I think could be pulled off. No way he'd do a tv series. Wish Mad Hatter was used more though. A villain I think that's possibilities are interesting and out there. Games that usually focus in and on the mind in some way. That said, hope this show turns out good. I haven't heard much about it to be honest.
GliderMan - 1/25/2014, 11:07 PM
Such a waste not connecting to the DCCU. If they're truly rebooting Batman, this could provide back-story and history into his world while avoiding another origin story. If done right it could possibly even lead into BvS.

[frick]ing waste.
Pedrito - 1/25/2014, 11:09 PM
Danny DeVitto or gtfo.
Maybe Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
mgeoff88 - 1/25/2014, 11:20 PM
That's cool. He would be a good first villain for Jim Gordon to take on.

I have a hard time picturing an actor in his 20s playing Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin though.
pesmerga44 - 1/25/2014, 11:22 PM
I am not surprised if this is true the only real villains they can use will be crime bosses, hitmen, and the occasional psychopath. Guys like Joker, Bane, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, etc... will not be involved in this show. Penguin also will not have his famous trick umbrella he will be a crime boss running the show from his club may throw in Black Mask but will probably use the other crime boss families. Zsasz will probably be a recurring villain in the show.
GliderMan - 1/25/2014, 11:31 PM
@pes FOX president confirmed Joker, Riddler and Penguin.

Will someone please explain how FOX is making a show based off af a DC/WB property??
loki668 - 1/25/2014, 11:38 PM
No Calendar Man, no peace!

JasonBlue - 1/25/2014, 11:39 PM
@xfan320 - They are buying franchise rights the way they own rights to X-Men... but in a more limited sense.
batz11 - 1/25/2014, 11:43 PM
... I thought I could trust my "buddies" on this site, how is it I've had True Detective on my dvr for a week, Alexandra Daddario FULL [frick]ing frontal and 'back'-al? S1, Ep2, 16 min mark.
Have a died and went to hell?

You [frick]ing kidding me, I need to work less, losing touch to what matters...
pesmerga44 - 1/25/2014, 11:47 PM
@gliderman

Seriously they confirmed Joker for this show such a mistake Joker works at his best when he is a parallel to Batman. Playing his game with Batman scene like this are why Batman needs Joker and Joker needs Batman and is stupid to put him in something without Batman

Batman laughing hysterically alongside the Joker as the Gotham PD just stand there. The entire insanity and fear of the Joker really only works with Batman man [frick] this shit even more.
Brady1138 - 1/25/2014, 11:48 PM
That sounds aw--Latino Review.

Never mind.
Brady1138 - 1/25/2014, 11:52 PM
@persmerga44 As excited as I am for this show, I agree.

The other villains can work by themselves, but what makes Joker such a unique villain is his unique relationship with the hero. Joker is essentially the ANSWER to Batman, the Joker always does what he does to try and prove Batman is just as insane as he is, but alone he's just another murderous psychopath.
Aquaman9 - 1/26/2014, 12:05 AM
This show hasn't even aired yet and it's already better than Agents of Shit.

@grif I love you

"According to a scoop from El Mayimbe at Latino Review"

This site should stop posting El Mayimbe's BS!! Articles quoting that fraud should be banned. Latino Review is a laughing stock!

Malcopunch - 1/26/2014, 12:24 AM
