None other then Vanessa Hudgens is in the front running to play the role of Spider-Woman on the big screen. The "High School Musical" star is said to be one of the front runners to bring miss Spidey to the big screen.

The actress that is currently dating Zac Efron who had taken interest in playing Spider-Man after Tobey Mcguire was said to be done with the role.

Hudgens is reportedly set to play a very different role as an HIV positive heroin addict in "Rent" this summer.

SPIDER-WOMAN ORIGIN
Jessica Miriam Drew, daughter of Jonathan and Merriam Drew, was born in London, England. At a young age, Jessica was lethally poisoned by radiation while living near Mount Wundagore in Transia. In an attempt to save her life, her father injected her with an experimental serum based on irradiated spiders' blood. Because the serum did not have any apparent effect on her, the man who would come to be known as the High Evolutionary (Herbert Wyndham) placed her in a genetic accelerator. While in the accelerator, she aged at a decelerated rate. When she was finally released, decades later, Drew was only seventeen years old.

Jessica grew up on Mount Wundagore under the care of Lady Bova, one of the High Evolutionary's New Men. She was cared for and received the equivalent of a high school education. She eventually left when she did not appear to fit in. Her first few years were confusing as she adjusted to life among other humans.[2] Eventually, HYDRA, under the control of Count Otto Vermis, found and recruited her as a HYDRA agent.

Through brainwashing and manipulation, she was convinced she was not human but actually an evolved spider. During this time, she went by the alias of Arachne. As a HYDRA agent, she battled Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., until Jessica learned HYDRA's true nature. She quit HYDRA and turned on them, and was responsible for the fatal crash of HYDRA head Otto Vermis.

Mounted88- Now I don't know about everyone else, but I didn't even know a Spider-Woman movie was in the works. As far as looks goe, I think she has it. With that being said, has anyone seen her act? I haven't. You know the deal, comment below. Have an awesome day

NO. Sorry but No. That's all I'm going to say: NO.
ViperXX79 - 4/22/2010, 6:15 PM
Who owns the movie rights?
blabberingblatherskite - 4/22/2010, 6:17 PM
She was pretty good in band slam, with the right script, director, etc, she can pull it off.
InSpace - 4/22/2010, 6:19 PM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIRST OF ALL SHE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HER

SHE'S NOT ENGLISH

sHE PROBALLY THINKS SPIDER-WOMAN IS SPIDERMANS GIRLFRIEND OR SOMETHING

And sadly i doubt theyll make a film of Spider-Woman
People are going to think it has something to do with spider-man and not that big of a charecter
jusme6 - 4/22/2010, 6:22 PM
I woulda said "great", but InSpace reminded me that this chick isn't British. This is unacceptable. Spiderwoman needs to have a sexy British accent.
Brezovsky - 4/22/2010, 6:22 PM
I think that really no one will care about a spider women movie and it wont do very well either
jusme6 - 4/22/2010, 6:24 PM
Would love to see a Spider-woman movie though. Better that than a Power Pack or a Dazler movie.
StephenStrange - 4/22/2010, 6:54 PM
Me too, jusme. I agree. So this time it's not jusyou

Anyway all you folks that are saying it wouldn't work... it's funny but I watched the cartoon and read the comic as a kid and I never thought it had anything to do with Spider - Man. I have always thought she was kind of cool.
DaenerysTargaryen - 4/22/2010, 6:59 PM
It's weird if you ask me....Vanessa Hudgens playing a HIV positive heroin addict. It's like looking into the future. ;)
DaenerysTargaryen - 4/22/2010, 7:01 PM
To the people who are complaining about the british accent thing: It's called acting.
gaikinger - 4/22/2010, 7:58 PM
uhhhh no
JLanphear - 4/22/2010, 8:12 PM
No. It's not because of the accent, it's just. . . personal bias. lol
Hawksblueyes - 4/22/2010, 8:36 PM
The original article this came from says the movie is going to be a comedy. Epic Fail.
antonio - 4/22/2010, 9:07 PM
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!MEGAN FOX OR ASHLEY GREENE!!
Jimdlux - 4/22/2010, 9:14 PM
She looks like a dude in a wig
deraj36 - 4/22/2010, 9:23 PM
Huh, I think this is one of the last ideas for a movie anyone was thinking of.
RoadDogXXIV - 4/22/2010, 9:28 PM
Huh, I've no idea. At one point I'd love to see Vanessag Hudgens try a comic book role, but then I hear she's a dumb-ass who "accidentally" uploads her nudie images on the internet.

I second Antonio. Either Megan Fox (I'm glad people aren't drinking Kool-Aid; there are so many jokes made at her expense, it's pretty much irrelevant to make fun of her - now it's Lindsay Lohan's turn) or Ashley Greene would be better choices. But if we're looking for authenticity and need a British actress, I hear Rebecca Hall and Gemma Arterton are the fan favorites.
antonio - 4/22/2010, 9:29 PM
GEMMA ARTETRON WULD BE GREAT.
Sithsidious66 - 4/22/2010, 9:41 PM
Emma Watson for Spider-Woman?
OverCross - 4/22/2010, 9:46 PM
No thanks Vannessa

Go away
thwhtGuardian - 4/22/2010, 9:58 PM
danyrand, it's not in a movie she's in the stage production of RENT I believe.

Also, this story has no basis in reality. It was originally started by Showbiz Spy...which is a garbage gossip rag, so I think it's safe to extinguish the torches and put the pitch forks back in the barn.

Personally, I've never seen Hudgens act so I don't care to comment on whether this would have been a good move if it were real...but it's not so it's all good.

Move along citizens. Nothing to see here.
Ranger14 - 4/22/2010, 9:59 PM
"To the people who are complaining about the british accent thing: It's called acting."

Umm...tell Sam Worthington that. ;-) :-P

So someone thinks it is a good idea to have a Spider-Woman movie and Hudgens likes the idea...so that makes her a front-runner for a part in a movie that is just a twinkle in someone's eyes? Alrighty then...
jjmeylar - 4/22/2010, 10:08 PM
Vanessa is sexy. That's it. She'd suck as Jessica.
MovieTheaterLad - 4/22/2010, 10:11 PM
You know...

Vanessa would probably be a much better X-23. And besides, there's more than one kind of Spider-Woman, you know.

ProtonCannon - 4/22/2010, 10:16 PM
Michelle "Bionic Woman" Ryan is Jessica Drew.

KevinBacon01 - 4/22/2010, 10:30 PM
I think Spider-Woman has become a cool and very important character in the Marvel Universe. Seeing her on the big screen would be pretty cool, she has a pretty unique background, and i'm sure women of the world would love seeing a blockbuster comic book movie that doesn't blow like Elektra.
thwhtGuardian - 4/22/2010, 10:46 PM
Very true elephant, but as things stand this won't be it. It's an idle rumor, and nothing more.
scoopz - 4/22/2010, 11:01 PM
Bad Idea. Kate Beckingsale might be a good choice. Or rebecca mader from LOST, but she'd have to do something with he hair. Still this is a bad idea. She's not that great of an actress. And there's not much time before they start filming avengers.
KevinBacon01 - 4/22/2010, 11:05 PM
Rachel Mc Adams would be good, she could do that action and she is hot as hell. I've always wondered why she hasn't done more stuff, or even some like hot spread in Maxim (or playboy lol). She was good in the Mummy, that was her right?
JHowlett - 4/22/2010, 11:44 PM
I don't think Spider-Woman is well known enough a character to be made into a movie it would be dope don't get me wrong and yeah the actress is fine and all buy I don't know if they'll make a movie about her.
MistressKizuna - 4/22/2010, 11:52 PM
Urgh no thanks. She's far too much of a novice actress at this point, and a bit young for Jessica Drew.

I'd go for someone a litte older. Rachel McAdams sounds like an alright choice, and maybe Taylor Cole.
legionbecks - 4/23/2010, 2:47 AM
hollywood has and always have being (except very few) screwing up the origin of cbm characters in whatever way they want so i guess you guys saying hell no doesnt make a difference ;p :(, damn the writers
CorndogBurglar - 4/23/2010, 5:16 AM
she doesn't need her own movie. Marvel has tried their little hearts out to force Spider-Woman into an important role. she was interesting for a while, being the triple agent of SHIELD, Hydra, and the Avengers, and of course she turned out to be the queen Skrull.

i know Marvel wanted to have another cool female character in the forefront, but Spider-Woman is done being interesting...
LastCall - 4/23/2010, 5:34 AM
I'm all in, next we can have hannah montana play Ms. Marvel!!!
