In 2009, everyone took notice of Neill Blomkamp's talents when District 9 became the sleeper hit of the summer. Its $210M revenue easily surpassed the film's meager $30M budget. Interest in his next project reached a feverish pitch. That project was the 2013 film Elysium, which starred Matt Damon ("EuroTrip"). It pulled in $286M at the worldwide box office against a budget of $115 million (minus marketing costs).

In 2015, we'll get to see his next offering. It will be Chappie, here's the official tagline: "After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth, Chappie becomes the adopted son in a strange and dysfunctional family. Chappie is preternaturally gifted, one of a kind, a prodigy. He also happens to be a robot." It stars: Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver and Sharlto Copley.

Elysium was a step down from DISTRICT9,but DISTRICT9 is a classic and Elysium was too on the nose and by the books predictable, however in DISTRICT9 I really felt for the child prawn and wanted nothing bad to happen to him,I think we will get that same feeling for Chappie....

And I cant wait....

[frick] Man its a [frick]in Prawn...

Yeah Elysium was pretty disappointing after a fantastic debut with District 9. Hopefully this gets Neil back on track to being an exciting original director.
santoanderson - 7/22/2014, 3:31 PM
District 9 was an amazing film, but Elysium was bad.
McNyagano - 7/22/2014, 3:31 PM
Loved all his films so far. I'm pretty excited.
Dotanuki - 7/22/2014, 3:32 PM
Looking forward to seeing Die Entwoord in this one. Hopefully it's better than Elysium. Talk about beating the audience over the head with the message.
TheRationalOne - 7/22/2014, 3:41 PM
Elysium was great.

Although I enjoy Blomkamp's movies, I feel like he is a one-trick pony. I bet that if we were to see a still from his next movie (after Chappie), it could easily be fit into any of his other movies.
DaVinci31 - 7/22/2014, 3:48 PM
Yes.

I wonder if Die Antwoord's music will be in the film?

daddybear - 7/22/2014, 4:27 PM
He should have made a district 9 sequel, Elysium was really lame compared to that.
Nick56 - 7/22/2014, 4:34 PM
Elysium was such a let down. hope this is better.
Lozzy - 7/22/2014, 4:39 PM
Elysium was alright. But I agree, it was a step down from district 9.
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/22/2014, 4:42 PM
Haven't seen Elysium yet, gotta check it out. Was really looking forward to it
DrKinsolving - 7/22/2014, 5:13 PM

nibs - 7/22/2014, 6:04 PM
I just watched district 9, and it is an awesome movie. I actually hate mostly everything, and it is one of my favorites.
Elysium was terrible lol.
This doesn't sound interesting, but we'll see I suppose.
Holmes - 7/22/2014, 6:36 PM
Elysium 6/10
District 9 8/10 , could b higher but theres no sequel
Jollem - 7/22/2014, 6:40 PM
"I actually hate mostly everything"

lol!! i love cynical people :)
TheLoveDoc - 7/22/2014, 7:53 PM
Loved District 9. Elysium was a step down but far from "terrible" as some people say. If you want a "terrible" sci-fi go on to IMDB's bottom 250 and I'm sure you will find plenty.
superotherside - 7/22/2014, 10:03 PM
Really liked both. But he shouldn't have his heroes die or left hanging every time.
novaprime - 7/23/2014, 12:56 AM
Awsome! HE NEEDS TO DIRECT THE PLANET HULK AND HULK ORIGINS!!!
And Joe KraSinski For Ironman 4!!!! OR IRONMAN REBOOT!!!
Fun1gUy - 7/23/2014, 5:58 AM
