'Tis the Season for casting calls, as next year's new crop of pilots will begin to emerge. One such new show, is Fox's planned Gotham television series. It will tell the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon, and according to Bleeding Cool the first episode will focus on Gordon trying to solve, Thomas and Martha Wayne's murder. And today, Feature Film Casting has posted a casting call for the show that adds some credibility to that recent rumor.
A 10-year-old Bruce Wayne is among the roles that are now being cast as series regulars on the upcoming Fox TV series "Gotham" which explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham City famous. Shooting on the pilot episode will get underway in March, 2014 and will center on Gotham City PD rookie homicide detective James Gordon who investigates the double murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. - Feature Film Casting

i wonder if they'll connect this to the DCCU as the show is set way before the existence of Batman
KilledHal9000 - 12/6/2013, 9:43 PM
So this is actually for real? Huh.

a 10 year old Bruce Wayne on a Gotham tv show? I'm hooked already!

I'm actually looking forward to this show. Just hope it's part of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Questions:

1) I'm curious about which villains will appear on the show?

2)Which villain predated a 10 year old Bruce Wayne? Considering some of his rouges where inspired by the appearance of the Batman, like the Joker for example.
Ranger14 - 12/6/2013, 10:18 PM
Howlett@ I was questioning the same thing. Probably going outside the canon and changing up the origins I imagine. I guess we will have to wait and see. Not sure if this premise is going to interest me or not.
BlackIceJoe - 12/6/2013, 10:19 PM
Well this is just what I always wanted to see a baby Bruce Wayne :). I feel for the kid who get to play him. He will probably think he will get to wear the Batsuit. Hopefully he won't think that.

But I wonder who will be the villains. Will it be the early years of the Falcone family? Will Ra's al Ghul play any part in it? Will the Maroni family play any part? Plus the only other one I could think up is Rupert Thorne. Everyone else would be to young. So it will be interesting to see what they do with this show.

Plus I know it would never happen but I so wish WB would put a Batman tv show on HBO. There is so many great villains that will never got a chance to be shown on the big screen. That it would be great to finally see them. I could see it doing well in the viewers for them. Plus it could go to a darker place then it does in the movies.

Would love this show to be a tie in miniseries, exploring how the death of the Wayne's affected Gotham... The tv based around those 24 years or so of how Gotham came to need the batman. That way later episodes we could origin stories of the villains and the DCCU is open wide, and can go in any direction!
Nerfherder1 - 12/6/2013, 10:24 PM
Doubt it tho... It's gonna be like birds of prey! Remember that show?

A couple things about this news got me wondering

1. How WB is allowing another channel to run a DC property let alone Batman characters seems really weird to me.

2. This sounds like a cop show with Batman villain names getting dropped. Personally I really don't like this idea for a show. A great number of his villains can't be here and should not be changed in order to be in this show. Really the only villains that will fit are the crime families like the Falcone family. The only one that can ever make sense for a series villain is Black Mask but again he works so much better as a Batman villain.

This feels like to me a cop show with Batman icons slapped on the title to sell it to people.

my super-secret source at Warner Bros. told me that Lex Luthor will be in the TV series selling crack on the streets of Gotham. Yeah, that's what I heard.

Nerfherder1 - 12/6/2013, 10:31 PM
I heard that too! Also justin timberlake is the riddler and that dude with ears is nightwing
mrHJK - 12/6/2013, 10:31 PM
Stop it
Howlett - 12/6/2013, 10:35 PM
DICK... did your source tell you Lex will appear as an African-American in the TV series?
DudeGuyMan - 12/6/2013, 10:35 PM
My reliable and totally-not-made-up-at-all souce says that Micheal Fassbender has been confirmed for every single superhero role. Where's my article?
superbatspiderman - 12/6/2013, 10:36 PM
Before this happens I still think that they need to at least mention Batman or Bruce Wayne on Arrow.

I am not sure what I feel about this news. I hope they get a good actor to play Gordon. A Batman show without Batman doesn't sound the greatest though.
Nerfherder1 - 12/6/2013, 10:37 PM
It's actually just fassbenders penis that will playing the superheroes! Check ur source
loki668 - 12/6/2013, 10:40 PM
I have a source that says Paris Hilton is playing Gordon and that his partner will be a talking, wise-cracking, cgi cat.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 12/6/2013, 10:44 PM
Awesome. Reallllllly looking forward to this. I always wanted a GCPD tv series.
Dick - 12/6/2013, 10:44 PM
@howlett... yes sir, and then he grab my sandwich and ran away.

ALmazing - 12/6/2013, 10:54 PM
My alien sources tell me that GPD is connected to MCU, not CDCU, and Gordon will be Coulson's lost father...twist, Phill's childhood legal name was Robin.

JasonBlue - 12/6/2013, 10:55 PM
What if.... here me out.... DC is just trying to blindside us and this is the show that ultimately becomes the vehicle for Nightwing and other Gotham characters and is linked with the Ben Affleck Batman (who will be "retired" or up on the justice league satellite).
GreenLanternRulez - 12/6/2013, 10:55 PM
Can't they put it on the CW?
Ignition - 12/6/2013, 10:59 PM
This got a straight to series order, it sounds like they've got a ton of confidence in it.
ALmazing - 12/6/2013, 11:03 PM
^Its just a pilot, this hasn't gotten picket up.
WruceBayne - 12/6/2013, 11:08 PM
If I wanted to watch a show about Gordon I would watch Kojac. You CAN'T have Gotham without Batman. All of the villains are at least within 10 years of Batman so that means no relevant villains. Good luck Fox... your going to need it.
0bstreperous - 12/6/2013, 11:20 PM
I love the idea fox doesn't drag bad shows out forever

Unlike the wb cw remember 7 th heaven and smallville

HeadPool420 - 12/6/2013, 11:46 PM
This would make a great mini series, but idk how it'll do as a regular series.
Sumitsjc - 12/6/2013, 11:57 PM
that mean ALFRED will be there..I am So Happy now.
Darlene1974 - 12/6/2013, 11:57 PM
MARVEL has that superheroless Agents Of Shield and now DC has a superheroless one called Gotham.... (long sigh)
Oh well, I rather wait for a tv series with actual superpowered Superhero...
Tyrus - 12/7/2013, 12:28 AM
... This is definitely connected to the DCCU. They wouldn't go near a Gotham show OR TV Bruce Wayne if it wasn't. Also, I'm assuming that it's be easier to connect this and Batman vs Superman anyway...
rabid - 12/7/2013, 12:31 AM
Smallville ran for 10 years. If Bruce starts off at age 10 and this ran a similar length of time, we could actually see him leave by the final episode.
And just because there's no Batman doesn't mean there aren't other heroes or villains in Gotham. Jason Blood, Alan Scott, Dr. Gotham, Dr. Arkham, Ra's al Ghul, Vandal Savage, Madame Xanadu, Zatara, Joe Chill, Jason Bard, Jim Corrigan, Arella, the Graysons, Haley's Circus, the Cobblepots, the Court of Owls, the Kanes and the Crime Bible. They could even throw in Hitman... or a young stand up comic that one day might become Joker... or maybe we see a grotesque Killer Croc as a child.
NeoBaggins - 12/7/2013, 12:43 AM
The idea alone blows everything out of the water. If the execution and quality is there, it could be a damn good show. So many possibilities. So man stories.

Could you imagine YEAR ONE played out in live-action over a series of episodes?

Yeah, exactly.
Poolio - 12/7/2013, 12:55 AM
@Darlene1974
The Flash tv show is coming 2014
Badmuffin - 12/7/2013, 12:59 AM
I can't wait to see a Batman show without Batman.
