Akiva Goldsman On Lobo

We have already heard from the writer/producer on his feeling toward Batman And Robin , as well as his thoughts for the proposed Swamp Thing reboot. Here we have his take on Lobo, and the Director that will bring the main man to the big screen, Guy Ritchie...
Ritchie wouldn't seem like the obvious choice to direct a movie like Lobo. Sure his next project, Sherlock Holmes, has loose comic book affiliations, but generally he likes to make movies about Laaaandan aaaaardmen and pepper his movies with voicovers that relay the entire plot, just in case you happen to be mentally challenged and cant follow it!(sorry, not a huge fan!)..anyway, Producer Akiva Goldsman feels Ritchie is just the man to unleash the Bastiche...

"There's something hyperbolic and authentic about a Guy Ritchie movie. His best movie are deeply, deeply stylized yet they are all grounded; there's a grit of stylization, which sounds like an oxymoron but it makes perfect sense when you've seen his films.

We've never seen Guy's sensibility married to a project with such a large special effects budget."

Goldsman said Ritchie will shoot a test scene in November -- "We've got the character design pretty much done," Goldsman said, "and the test will get us moving forward to the next step" -- and casting will be decided after that.

Despite Jeffrey Dean Morgan expressing interest..and being involved with Goldsman on The Losers, we haven't heard anything but rumor on the casting front so far.

I can't believe they're doing Lobo before most of the other DC heroes get their chance.

Oh, and isn't this douchebag married to that walking Petri dish, the poster-whore for sexually-transmitted diseases and death-camp-victim with Frankenboobs called MA-DOG-NA? You know, that glorified crack whore Ma-DOG-Na Chicone, who could not make it as a streetwalker because she was too damn ugly?

Yup. That must be the douchebag I'm thinking of.

Why would we want this hosebag sniffer NEAR a comic book movie???

Well, it IS Lobo, so no one really cares anyways...

Prepare to make less money than you spend, studio....
bropous - 10/20/2009, 7:27 AM
I care!!! JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN FOR LOBO!!!

Shaman - 10/20/2009, 7:37 AM
Guy Ritchie's not bad.
"Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"
"Snatch"
"RocknRolla"

So far so good.
BmanHall - 10/20/2009, 7:42 AM
First off, Rockenrolla was shite, second, you forgot Swept Away and Revolver! Holmes also looks like more of the same to me..but I hope I'm wrong.
RorMachine - 10/20/2009, 8:15 AM
Ror@ every diractor has shit to there name, seems every crap movie he made was when he was married to Maddona and that women has cursed the movie world since the 80's.

Lock Stock and Snatch are great movies imo...heres to Holmes and here's to Lobo :)
teabag - 10/20/2009, 8:18 AM
I went to the mtv voting polls. When I saw a list of actor names and I researched all of them. James Preston Rogers is the best choice to be casted Lobo.
shahrazstate - 10/20/2009, 8:19 AM
I hate you Shaman
ItsNotASchooner - 10/20/2009, 8:34 AM
kevin durand is LOBO...maybe ron pearlman but he's hellboy already lol....JDM?..ummmm he's alrite but durand is kick ass
Anil Rickly - 10/20/2009, 8:37 AM
Wow. I can't believe they are actually moviing forward on this. I am surprised and happy.
THEHAWK - 10/20/2009, 9:00 AM
Well, Snatch and Lock Stock were basically the same movie with slightly different plots and characters. As for every director having shite movies, what about Darren Aronofsky? Chris Nolan? Martin Scorsese? Wim Wenders? The list goes on. Now obviously every director has movies that are better than others, but Im hard pushed to think of anyone I could be possibly exited about directing a CBM that has squat out pieces of absolute Satan loaf like Swept Away or Revolver.
RorMachine - 10/20/2009, 9:02 AM
I still say Brad Garrett should reprise the role. he he
supermarioworldE - 10/20/2009, 9:02 AM
@Rorschach, personally, I found Chris Nolan's memento, very confusing.
supermarioworldE - 10/20/2009, 9:05 AM
@supermario: You need to watch it two times in a row to get it. It's backwards. There might be something wrong with someone who completely understands it the first time. ;-)

Ritchie seems like an odd choice for this, but I'll withhold judgment until we know more about it.
Velox - 10/20/2009, 9:59 AM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... *pointing at the cutie cat* LOL :P

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... *pointing at shahrazstate* LOL :P

Shaman - 10/20/2009, 10:05 AM
Memento is up there with my favorite movies ever. I really hated Insomnia though. I call it, "The battle of the penile noses." To each his own I guess.

Ror-- Even though I liked both Snatch and Lock Stock they did seem basically the same. Snatch was like a Lock Stock with a higher profile cast.

Satan loaf, lol!
Betty - 10/20/2009, 10:08 AM
Ror@ i can name movies from all of those guys that i find Shit so its all into taste....well except for Wenders...i have no intrest in that guy :D
teabag - 10/20/2009, 10:19 AM
@Velox, Perhaps I should watch Memento again. But the point I was trying to get across was that All directors have their one movie that is of lesser quality than the rest.
supermarioworldE - 10/20/2009, 3:09 PM
Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kevin Durand have already played characters, so I guess I'll go with Guy Ritchie.
MovieTheaterLad - 10/20/2009, 3:13 PM
teabag-- Yeah Wenders did Million Dollar Hotel. It was so bad I got mad at myself for being to lazy to reach for the remote and turn it off!
Betty - 10/20/2009, 3:33 PM
Mario/Betty@ Exactly lol

MovieTheaterLad@ WTF???? :P
teabag - 10/20/2009, 4:51 PM
tea-- He doesn't know.
Betty - 10/20/2009, 7:37 PM
AT MovieTheaterLand..... what the... ooohhhhhhhhhhh ..... sorry.
shibazz - 10/21/2009, 1:09 AM
TYLER MANE IS LOBO.
OSCURO - 11/7/2009, 11:52 AM
The only good thing of Guy R. is SNATCH, if LOBO is like SNATCH in space and good FX and fighting, and of course an excelent history, well I hope...
