Rob Liefeld Tweets Info on Deadpool Movie... And Cable!

The co-creator of Deadpool has Twittered lots of lovely things about the upcoming movie, as well as hinting at a possible Cable appearance at some point...
Liefeld's tweets:

"Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Schuler Donner and her team are headed in the right direction!"

"Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check!"

"Deadpool movie- YES! Ryan Reynolds is on board!!!"

And then the most interesting one:

"Also excited to discuss possibilities of Cable in future X-films!!!"

---
This sounds interesting. Not really a big fan of Liefeld, he was great in the 90s but nowadays we look for both style and substance. But these 2 creations of his I'm looking forward to watch on their own in the bigscreen.

WOW! That is big news!!

Great article Access!!! Cable movie in the future!!.. Deadpool breaking the 4th wall is going to be great! Alfie lol
Imran - 9/23/2009, 3:41 AM
Hey, I say that's fine with the 4th wall and all...but that can really throw non-comic fans off. I remember when a couple of friends watched the American version of Funny Games (which I've not myself seen), and complained about the 4th wall breakage in that and how it messed up the "journey in that crazy world". If in the first movie, Deadpool goes breaking the wall here and there, it might confuse and alienate too many people. I say save 4th wall-breaking for the sequel. Focus on establishing the character and persona with this first movie; get viewers comfortable with that, then go on a wall rampage later.

CABLE = BIEHN!!!

Good find man!

LEEE777 - 9/23/2009, 6:05 AM
okay....what exactly is the fourth wall?
i hear it all the time and am just....oblivious...wtf?
captain0vell - 9/23/2009, 6:16 AM
@captain0vell -its talking to the audience.... it just means that Deadpool has the idea that people "movie audience or comicbookreaders" are watching him and in return talks to them. Usually the other characters(in the movie or comics) are oblivious to this. I hope that made sense. :)

Actually the term came from theaters or plays... because usually in theaters there are 3 walls and where the fourth wall should be is where the audience are viewing the play.
access - 9/23/2009, 6:24 AM
Ovell @ Its when the actual character talks to us when we're watching it (The Audience), Like SHE-HULK does too in her comic, talks to the reader!

That's not the big news though, friggin' talk of a CABLE movie or CABLE in a X-movie is the BIG NEWS!!
LEEE777 - 9/23/2009, 6:27 AM
Access @ You beat me too it lol, i hate my broadband. heh, keep losing connection, arghhh.
LEEE777 - 9/23/2009, 6:28 AM
@LEEE7777 atleast you have a broadband, me I'm still using a freaking dialup talk about stoneage huh?!

and I think Biehn is an inspired choice for cable... but I think i'll go with the "IT" guy for now and join the Sam Worthington Wagon

Hey, this is ALL big news! This means they are going are going to move forward with Deadpool despite Green Lantern. AND that the creator of the character is happy with the adaptation this time (so far). Great news! Especially since Donner was recently talking about an X4 to pick up where X3 left off, maybe Cable will be in both of them? If so, I'd bet we'll see Bishop too then, and likely the return of Cyclops to the franchise.
Bamf7 - 9/23/2009, 7:20 AM
I already knew they would put the suit in, they have to, but for a long time "I was looking for those specific combination of words and never heard them. Then I hear more news about the Deadpool movie and I heard them 'Deadpool breaks fourth wall in solo movie' ".
airbeyonder18 - 9/23/2009, 7:31 AM
Access @ DIAL UP??? Man i thought you was the up-to-date dude with all the stuff you do on here lol! ; D

LEEE777 - 9/23/2009, 7:56 AM
John C. McGinley for Cable. I always thought he would be the be the best for it.

frankster - 9/23/2009, 7:56 AM
Bruce campbell for cable ;)
wards - 9/23/2009, 8:04 AM
Sam Worthington is shit. Until Clash comes out to prove me wrong, he should stay the [frick] away from comic book films!!!

Michael Biehn for CABLE!!!

Shaman - 9/23/2009, 8:09 AM
This is awesome, can't wait for deadpool! Especially after the shit all over him in Wolverine. Any body have good ideas for the villian for a deadpool movie?

wooot!! DEADPOOL!! Yes, some good news about the film! I am a huge Deadpool fan, and this just gets me all excited! Big Cable fan, too, but i think they should introduce him in a new mutants movie before anything else

woo hoo!! woo hoo!!! woo hoo!!!
jallanr - 9/23/2009, 10:00 AM
After what they did to DeedPool in Wolverine Origins, Im not exited at all. Who knows what other crazy shit they will do to him. Will he wear the mask?? I doubt it. Fox is making the film and we all know that fox cant make Comic films for shit.

I give it to Reynolds, he is making good moves, but I don't know how i feel about him playing Green Lantern and DeedPool. He fits more in the DeedPool role to me, seeing as how he's roles are always the wise cracking type.
CrashTest - 9/23/2009, 10:22 AM
Loads of killing-double check
grif - 9/23/2009, 10:26 AM
I will second your double-check, grif ;)

CrashTest- The only way for Reynolds to work as Hal is for him to tone down his wise-cracking to a minimum and for DC to never even touch Wally West's character. I think that if they go with a JLA having him as Hal, Barry Allen should be Flash.
Shaman - 9/23/2009, 10:29 AM
AnyOne know his TWITTER NAME???? I want to add
ThatDamnLB - 9/23/2009, 10:30 AM
Cable could be really good, or horrible if they don't get him right. Somebody from Marvel needs to approve the damn script before Fox sees it. Marvel needs some major help in quality control over these characters, we can't have these f**king reboots every time they f**k something or someone up.
ASSASSIN666 - 9/23/2009, 11:13 AM
meh,I'm pretty sure fox will mess this up.
thwhtGuardian - 9/23/2009, 11:25 AM

MIDAS - 9/23/2009, 11:30 AM
Deadpool is sick in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.
MIDAS - 9/23/2009, 11:33 AM
I don't know about that 4th wall stuff. It is ok in other mediums but in movies i think it doesn't work.
ewoksoup - 9/23/2009, 12:07 PM
AWESOME!!!
ElBicho - 9/23/2009, 12:11 PM
thats what i wanna hear
AvengingAngel1022 - 9/23/2009, 12:37 PM
This is the best news i've heard all day! I love deadpool and I know that they screwed him over in wolverine, but I know that his Solo Film will be amazing. I've been waiting so long for him to have a movie. And Cable in future installments!!! That's the icing on the cake!!

@midas, deadpool is awesome in that game. He's the only character I play with

@shaman, you're convincing me more and more about michael biehn for Cable!
supermarioworldE - 9/23/2009, 12:38 PM
Hell yeah, that is good news. And Cable would be awesome in a movie. Biehn for Cable!

The best way to work the future X movies is:
2011: Introduce Deadpool in a proper movie first
2012: Wolverine 2 (make a good Wolverine movie)
2013: X4 (Sinister as villain)
2014: X5 (film back-to-back with Apoclaypse as villain with Cable jumping from the future to stop Apocalypse)
2015: Deadpool 2
2016: Cable leads X-Force to fight Stryfe who also jumped back during the events of X5 and now Cable is forced to fight him
2017: X6: Days of Future Past
2018: Magneto and Xavier prequel
2019: Cable and Deadpool movie
2020: First Class prequel (Shadow King)
2022: First class prequel 2 (first battle against brotherhood)
2024: First class prequel 3 (Hellfire Club)
Then reboot

@ewoksoup
See Waynes World for good breaking the fourth wall
dancingmonkey08 - 9/23/2009, 1:07 PM
@ Shaman, Biehn may not have the size of Cable, but the dude has the haggard warrior down to a science, and who ever really is built like these larger than life characters like Cable anyway. Biehn has the face, the eyes, the voice, and most importantly the acting chops to make one hell of a Cable. I'm with you 100% on that one.
nerosday - 9/23/2009, 1:12 PM
Thanks Neros!!! The more of us aboard, the faster he'll get to the role :))
Shaman - 9/23/2009, 2:06 PM
Oh. Just make the bloody live action "Age of Apocalypse" movie.
Ryan Reynolds for Cable. Who's with me? :)
satanors - 9/23/2009, 3:29 PM
what does breaking the 4th wall mean?
BLITzSTREAK - 9/23/2009, 3:33 PM
CABLE = BIEHN, I love Biehn and if he gets Built for the role I would be all in, Biehn as an Older cable that is. Which every time they have show cable he has been of age. But If Cable is brought in you have to show a bit of his coming. The age of Apocalypse, which would mean a younger cable for a few scenes. Now that would be a film I would like to see, or like to make myself, lol. Cable has always been Built, Gears of War built, Im not saying have him that big but he needs to have some weight on him.

Shaman- Im glade someone is on the same page as me. Reynolds to work as Hal defiantly has to tone down his wise-cracking to a minimum. He ruined Blade 3 for me, not just him but he was one of the reasons I didnt like that movie. Also I agree with you on Barry Allen as Flash. DC has more work cut out for them on with their character line-up.

One would think with a story like DeedPool's, "How could they possibly mess this up?" But what I have come to learn is that with a story so good, Hollywood has to fill BIG SHOES. They tend to go off track, taking new routes that turn into really bad ideas. Blade 1/2, Iron-Man, and The Incredible Hulk, are the only Marvel comic films that I have been completely satisfied with,( live actions that is, Hulk VS, Dr. strange, Were NICE!), DC has yet to do so( again Live Action, Wounder Woman,Green Lantern,Public Enemys, you get the point).
Yes SpiderMan 1/2 were good but they had Big elements missing and Dunst as MJ, enough said. All in all, I wish Marvel approved these scripts/cast/direction, before it was brought to the big screen. Therefor we could move on with the story's and have CRAZY cross overs. WE NEED MORE CROSSOVERS!

CrashTest - 9/23/2009, 3:39 PM
Reynolds will hopefully be a better green lantern than he was deadfool...origins was such a nightmare...i'll wait for the dvd!
MisterUnderhill - 9/23/2009, 4:09 PM
Jeffery Dean Morgan for Cable...
TruePunishment - 9/23/2009, 4:15 PM
@ CaptianOvell

"okay....what exactly is the fourth wall?
i hear it all the time and am just....oblivious...wtf? "

The fourth wall is you, the viewer. The screen,(movie or tv)

Astro Boy for Dark Horse!
Skyh00k - 9/23/2009, 4:58 PM
Breaking the 4TH Wall is when the charecters talk to the reader, auudience ect.

It also means if they know their existence,i.e Deadpool knows he's a comicbook charecter and blames all his misfortune on the writer
InSpace - 9/23/2009, 5:26 PM
CrashTest- You don't realise how much i agree with you on everything you've said!!! Reynolds was just as good in it as Triple H, no exageration!!! They screwed up the whole movie. Well in part. Half of the screw up belongs to Goyer pennig alone and directing the whole shabang!!!

TruePunishment- Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Lobo!!!

Shaman - 9/23/2009, 6:40 PM
@Shaman that Lobo sketch is Amazing... I have a mock-up of Dean Morgan as lobo as well here:

access - 9/23/2009, 8:20 PM
Do you guys remember that Ramones song "I Wanna be Sedated"? I always pictured that as a good opening for a Deadpool movie. . . with lots of gratuitous violence.
MultiPurposePoni - 9/23/2009, 9:46 PM
I swear the next asshole who proposes Sam Worthington for ANOTHER CBM role, I'll... I'll... I'll put a hex on them that their asshole may grow together, or that toilet paper will dissolve on impact, or something horrible yet hilarious of the sort. Shaman said it best:
"Sam Worthington is shit. Until Clash comes out to prove me wrong, he should stay the [frick] away from comic book films!!!"
I am going to give him a chance in Clash too, but if he doesn't convince me after that, I'll file him with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. As in I'll not see a movie just because he is in it.
TheMyth - 9/23/2009, 11:59 PM
ohkaayy guys thanks for telling me what that was...
much obliged!
captain0vell - 9/24/2009, 6:18 AM
why not have ryan reynolds play cable as well :-)
R3Animator - 9/24/2009, 12:14 PM
Why not have reynolds play every hero ever?
wyatt1234 - 9/24/2009, 2:55 PM
Ryan Reynolds is every hero ever.
BmanHall - 9/24/2009, 4:12 PM
I think if the fricken creator of Deadpool is excited about the script and the way the movie is headed then we have nothing to worry about.
I want to put myself out there by saying fox does have some good Superhero movies, like X-men, X-men 2 and Daredevil (directors cut of course). I enjoyed X-men 3 but I can understand why fans wouldn't like it because of they wanted it to be closer to the Phoenix story but we have to realize would that story translated well to the big screen?
I think for a villian for Deadpool, they should do Taskmaster played by Ray Park maybe.

Superman4
Superman4 - 9/24/2009, 8:51 PM
Weasel played by David Wenham
Blind Al played by Sharon Gless

Thoughts?
Superman4 - 9/24/2009, 8:56 PM
I'm a big Deadpool fan so I say this with much angst: A Deadpool movie could not be faithful to the comics if the studio wants to make big $$$

You can pretty much guaranty that the studio will leave this stuff out:

1. Deadpool is not a hero. Never was, never will be. He might do something heroic here and there, but he is in no way a hero.

2. Deadpool talks, not just to the audience, but to himself. . . constantly. Sometimes he'll even have a three way conversation between his third person narrative, his thought bubbles and his outward voice.

3. Deadpool is just as vicious as the Punisher, so it should be rated R. . . which will never happen
MultiPurposePoni - 9/24/2009, 10:27 PM
Im surprised that no one has posted the infamous Captain "boob liefeld" America pic yet
NightAvenger4 - 9/26/2009, 8:26 AM
I retract what I said above for Sam Worthington as cable. I agree now with most of you who should cable be:

And because @NightAvenger4 misses it, here's the Cap that he's looking for:
