One of my most anticipated comic/comic-stories of the new 52! The art-direction and style just looks great! The story is cool as well!

Boring. Jerry Ordway did first and better. I love Geoff, but I feel he is wearing himself thin at this point.

I hate how they made Billy such an angry little snot. How does he deserve being Shazaam in this run? I mean I love the art, love the preview and i think the statue thing is great but it doesn't feel like Billy Baxton. I think the animated short nailed the character and it seems like Geoff just wanted to make it "new." Since it's forced into to JL I'm just hoping it gets better.

This looks awesome, I love that the seven sins of man are actual charactersand not the fat amorphous looking statues, I bet they will be part of a larger story for the JL or JLA

Instead of channeling the power of the 7 Greek Deities, they've instead created the 7 avatars of magic, as seen in the Free Comic Book Day issue,with 1 Aboriginal, 1 Japanese, 1 Egyptian looking, 1 Native american looking etc.

The reason why Billy is different is because that's the point of the new 52. It wasn't simply to reset the stories but just to be able to take the characters in a new direction. We know straight arrow Billy works. Maybe the character development is to get this kid to be that straight arrow.

I understand they want to shake things up. Make it something new. I'm just interested to see how This Billy can possibly deserve the power. We of course are going to find out. after screwing up Black Atom, I'd figure they want, you know, a straight arrow kid instead of the power being some kind of therapy.

Actually Solomon would not be considered Greek but Hebrew, and he was a King and not a deity (He was the one exception).

Shazam Looks cool, but Black Adam looks so bad ass. He is one of my favorite villains, you know major shit will go down when he comes on scene.
