I thought h'el was gonna be bizarro or something at first just because of his backwards S,I like the supergirl comic and the superboy one, pretty decent, waited ages for this issue
DrDoom - 1/21/2013, 12:18 PM
I don't care how many DC fans I piss off with this statement.... but I think the Flash sucks. He sucks hard, and he sucks proud.

Supergirl is cool, though.
Blackvoid - 1/21/2013, 12:22 PM
Ahhhhhhhrrrgggg!, i'm ok with your opinion :)
RorMachine - 1/21/2013, 12:29 PM
I never liked The Flash, any incarnation.
pud333 - 1/21/2013, 12:42 PM
I love this idea of Flash fighting Super Girl. Really looking forward to it.
SUPERMAN2013 - 1/21/2013, 1:00 PM
The flash as a character is good, his costume is cool, but because the only thing he can do is run fast has never made me interested in reading any flash comics,I like him in the justice league but stand alone I don't like him
CavEl - 1/21/2013, 1:09 PM
Lay off the Flash, he's cool...it's that lameo Barry Allen that sucks eggs.

At least he's better than that asshole Hal Jordan.
DCwanabe - 1/21/2013, 1:10 PM
Their gonna have sex.
RorMachine - 1/21/2013, 1:13 PM
I liked The Flash in the JLU cartoon, and he works fine as part of the JL in the comics, but solo? MEH.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 1:28 PM
The Flash is the man! Supergirl sucks. Flash whoop her ass...Barry Allen FTW. Fastest man alive n shit. What's Supergirl? Superman ripoff. Gay.

I do kinda miss the old costume (NO chin strap!!) but it doesn't look bad here. The new series is great. BRING ON THE FLASH MOVIE!!!
Shamo - 1/21/2013, 1:35 PM
Flash is generic imo.
shangho - 1/21/2013, 1:40 PM
I like that the Flash's actual powers include complete control over his atoms.Im surprised more writers haven't explored this
Dev7 - 1/21/2013, 1:41 PM
Damn DC really doesn't have any interesting characters outside of Batman do they? lol
shangho - 1/21/2013, 1:41 PM
And John's run was great on that book but Wally was infinitely more interesting than Barry Allen....
RSDhillon - 1/21/2013, 1:58 PM
Flash does more than run fast. Have any of you actually read the book? Or any Flash book? His entire body can move super-fast. He vibrate his molecules so fast he goes through a wall (which can also make whatever he goes through explode).

Also how is the Flash generic? He was going fast before any other comic character that wasn't Supes.
tonytony - 1/21/2013, 2:05 PM
The flash is awesome and anyone who reads his comics and sees all the cool ways he uses his powers and the speed force will realise why the character is an icon. Screw hating ass marvel fan boys and there bs.
marvel72 - 1/21/2013, 2:17 PM
only ever liked the wally west flash when mark waid wrote the book back in the 90s,i tried to get into the new series but i'm finding it hard.
GLprime2814 - 1/21/2013, 2:24 PM
What would be awesome is if He'l dies right there and that alien takes his body and clones him, and we get Bizzarro52 and since its a copy of a copy it would explain the reverse talking oaf.
Shamo - 1/21/2013, 3:14 PM
he's generic to me because that stands out about him.

power wise. you're fast? thats cool but so are a million other guys. next.

character wise? whats so special about him? what makes him interesting as a man? i couldn't say.

Shamo - 1/21/2013, 3:15 PM
theres nothing that stands out*
Fastestmanalive - 1/21/2013, 3:37 PM
LOL at people who says u cant do anything with the Flash, yea thats why hes been around for over 70 years with hundreds of comics and dozens of great stories. cuz he sucks, rrriiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhttttttttttt.
Fastestmanalive - 1/21/2013, 3:40 PM
@Marvel72
yea those are my favorite too, those are the ones I grew up on and that first got me into comics, Mark Waid is the bomb, trying to get the dead heat and terminal velocity graphic novels now.
damntree - 1/21/2013, 3:41 PM
He wears yellow boots. That says something...
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 4:02 PM
The Flash can do anything fast. Think fast, move fast, augmented conition. He can vibrate so fast he passes his molecules thru solid objects. Plus he's chill and down to earth...Barry Allen is the man. He's the only major DC character to have his powers from an accident, and his red and gold costume is one of the best designed of all time; the PROOF of that is that it's went through very minor changes that are really only noticeable to longtime fans in the 50 years he's been around. Well...sans the little lines all over his suit now. Kinda meh but the least effed with of the NU52.

I love The Flash. I think he's a great character.
BigEars - 1/21/2013, 4:08 PM
I understand where Supergirl is coming from, but seriously she's a total bitch in the New 52, I actually c her as the 'Skyler White' of the Superman Family; she needs to get her ass handed to her asap!
RorMachine - 1/21/2013, 4:23 PM
Nothing to do with his powers (which I think are pretty cool) I just don't really ever find his stories that interesting. Obviously I haven't read everything, and there might be some great arcs out there, but I have given Flash several tries over the years, from different writers to different characters, right up to the New 52 series which I dropped after 3 issues out of sheer boredom! Just not my type of comic.
SageMode - 1/21/2013, 4:38 PM
Barry Allen is boring. Its Wally West that made The Flash cool and interesting.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 4:48 PM
^^ People who "hate" on Barry Allen usually don't know jack about him and think that "Wally West" is the Flash on JL/JLU. I.e. people who have never read a Flash comic book.

Wally West will always be a poor man's Barry Allen. He got his powers the same way as Barry (same place even), reporter girlfriend, Barry's costume...even his own "Kid Flash" and a police job and a secret identity. Why go for brand x over the real thing? I think he's had some interesting stories, sure, but none that couldn't have been told with Barry Allen. Well, 'cept the 'Return of Barry Allen storyarc from the 90s. That was some good stuff I gotta say. But still, rest of Waid's stuff on to Johns stuff right before Rebirth....sub in Barry for Wally and it's the same guy...not too much difference. Either way, love The Flash - get his ass on screen ASAP! Sam Jackson even loves The Flash, mother[frick]er! One of the few comics he read as a boy.
marvel72 - 1/21/2013, 4:51 PM
@ fastestmanalive

you know it,dead heat & terminal velocity are classic's.

waid also wrote the flash born to run, flash the wild west's as well as impulse which was pretty cool as well.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 4:52 PM
Waid's a great writer. JLA: Year One and Flash & GL: Brave and the Bold are great books as well, particularly Year One. Also, loves Superman: Birthright. best Superman origin to date, IMO. Hope MOS draws from it.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 4:52 PM
* loved
SwingsetKnight - 1/21/2013, 6:21 PM
By almost every law of suspense there is, Supergirl should absolutely curbstomp Flash right about now. The comic should essentially be twelve pages of her making him her bitch, followed by his desperate door-opening scheme and subsequent KO just in time for Wondy and Supes to look appalled in the doorway.

But of course the ominously circling bitchstorm that is fan approval will keep DC from doing anything like that.

Go on, prove me wrong, DC. I'd love to see it.
Fastestmanalive - 1/21/2013, 7:25 PM
@Netman0007
I agree that the Flash is the bomb but Wally West all the way!!!

Not only a character with an interesting personality but one that matches perfectly with the Flash persona. Impulsive, high energy, a bit selfish, somewhat irresponsible but ultimately a good heart and well meaning. Plus Wally is very unique in comics in general, where he is the only hero I can think of that you can actually see grow in almost real time.

Whereas most comic book characters stay generally the same in personality, Wally you could go all the way back to the 60's and see a young kid to the 80's when he joined the new Teen Titans when he was a teenager and a confused young adult, to when he first took on the mantle of the Flash in the late 80's and started off extremely inexperienced and immature, watching him find love in Linda Park and ultimately getting married and coming into his own legend as a hero, all the way through the 90's and 2000's until his tragic disappearance.

Now on the negative with Barry I'm gonna keep it short, I also want to point out that while my first exposure to the Flash was Wally and I did grow up with him I have read most of Barry's comics from the late 60's all way to 1985 when he died in the crisis, so this is not a lack of knowing the character, but Barry is just plain boring, way too much of a straight man with zero personality that is not fun to read and definitely does not fit the persona of the fastest man alive.

So yea, WALLY WEST FTW!!!!!!
DrDoom - 1/21/2013, 7:28 PM
Swingset does have a point. Watch this video, and imagine Supergirl as Kratos and Flash as Theseus. That's pretty much how it would go down.

Fastestmanalive - 1/21/2013, 7:36 PM
@Netman0007

Speaking of Waid and his awesome JLA run, don't forget the famous tower of Babel and one of my personal favorites divided we fall, awesome reads.
Fastestmanalive - 1/21/2013, 7:50 PM
Wally is much more interesting then Barry, sorry I know Barry came before but hes just a boring square with no personality.

Wally's personality matches perfectly with the power of super speed, he's a bit irresponsible and immature, is a little impulsive and has a sense of humor. pretty much how he was in the first 150 issue of his won series. Or basically a slightly water downed version of the Flash from the JL cartoon series.

Impulse is also a good match for his powers but to the extreme.

But Barry? come on!! I dont like boring characters in general but especially when it comes to the Flash, guy who likes to take it slow and is responsible and thinks five times before he does anything and dosent like to take risks, yep, perfect match for someone with super speed, (sarcasm btw)

But I dont see DC ditching Barry anytime soon, so I think the Nightwing route is the best one.

Give Wally a different costume, like the one he got in rebirth, and it'll be more fast paced adventure then the book with Barry, which is more science focused on the psychics that he manipulates.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 9:39 PM
Barry Allen is the greatest Flash that has ever and will ever exist. Nuff [frick]ing said son.

New Frontier Barry is awesome as well. Barry is always late and ridiculed for being "slow", it's great, I love it. He's an easy going down to earth dude, an everyman, the guy you'd be most likely to bump into in the DCU. Wally was a celebrity millionaire...then after that they kept molding him into Barry Allen in all but name. Barry's got a great sense of humor bro idk what you're talking about....Secret Origins Annual from 87 is some great shit with Barry. Barry likes comic books...he's like us. And pre Johns, he was the only DC character to not be motivated by tragedy. I liked that about him. He's just like us. Superman flies above people. Batman hides from people. WOnder Woman preaches to people, Barry runs with people. Barry gets ridiculed by the Central City PD for being slow...there's a great "Clark Kent" vibe there, IMO. And yeah, the connection with Iris. Love that shit. Goes back waaaay before Wally and Linda. Wally and Linda is just Barry and Iris repackaged is all bro.

Barry Allen has been used in every media incarnation of The Flash, and the only time he wasn't they used all of his story elements and likeness but with Wally's name. That ALONE proves he is the better Flash.

Haha I could go on for hours on this but I'ma have to post back tomorrow.

I do miss Jay tho. They should do it in the Silver Age where he was from a different reality....one Flash per reality I like that. makes more sense then the post Crisis shit. Some post crisis I like, some pre crisis I like. I mix and match haha. Always prefer Byrne's Superman....least till Birthright anyway haha.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 9:40 PM
The fastest man is always late....that's an endless story point haha. I think that's great, one of my favorite things about Barry as a kid.
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 9:41 PM
It always works....I feel like it's a staple of The Flash you know?
Netman0007 - 1/21/2013, 9:42 PM
But yeah, no HATE on Wally. He's my second fave. I just prefer him as Kid Flash. I wish he'd have been brought back as Kid Flash in the NU52 but oh well. Young Justice has got em all right so far.

Barry as Flash.
Wally as Kid Flash.
Bart as Impulse.
Jay as old WW1 Flash.

damntree - 1/21/2013, 10:14 PM
You and Barry should get a room. Seriously, the Flash runs with people? Does Aquaman swim with people?
Netman0007 - 1/22/2013, 12:55 PM
Aquaman swims with people. In east LA.
Netman0007 - 1/22/2013, 12:55 PM
....and I didn't write it, Geoff Johns did. I was merely paraphrasing. ha! ;-) :-P
