Marvel's been drawing out the death of the world's most well-known mutant, Wolverine, for months now, but this month the four-issue miniseries Death of Wolverine sees Logan's time on Earth come to an end. With comic book deaths seemingly disposable now, many have speculated that the Canuck will return to the land of the living within a short amount of time. Well, the Death of Wolverine writer Charles Soule says that the intention is to keep him dead for a while, as revealed on the Marvel panel at Fan Expo 2014. "The idea is not to bring him back," he explained. "This isn't one of those stories where he's back in two weeks. The point is to tell an awesome ending story for Wolverine. I'm not gonna say he will never be brought back. I will say for sure that I'm very involved in all the Wolverine related discussions at Marvel right now and the thing we have not talked about at all is how to bring him back and I'm involved in discussions for stuff out into 2016 at this point." So the plan is to keep Logan dead for the next two years, at least, according to the Superman/Wonder Woman and Inhuman writer, but a five-issue follow-up titled Weapon X Project is set to arrive this Fall. Soule elaborates by saying it explores the Marvel Universe without Wolverine, and features "a guy who is kind of intertwined with a huge bad guy from Wolverine's history. I can't talk about any details, but when we revisit this next year and you know what all these things are I hope you'll be as excited about it as I am," before adding, "There are big plans to do everything except bring him back." Marvel's Death of Wolverine #1, by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven, hits shelves this Wednesday.
