Alan Moore, the famous comic book writer known for refusing to endorse adaptations of his work in the comic book industries reveal that not even millions of dollars will not make him change his mind.

According to an article on Digital Spy and DC Comics contacted the former writer for offering his support for the new Watchmen series that serves as a prequel to the original Wathcmen limited series of 1986 that Moore worked on with artist Dave Gibbons.

Allan Moore was Quoted as the following

"They asked me if they could give me a huge amount of money to bring out these Watchmen prequel comics - which they were going to do anyway - and that was probably a couple of million dollars."

"You can't buy that kind of empowerment. To just know that as far as you are aware, you have not got a price; that there is not an amount of money large enough to make you compromise even a tiny bit of principle that, as it turned out, would make no practical difference anyway."

Alan Moore has been acclaimed for his work in comic book series. Among some of his most popular works are Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

Gotta respect someone who actually has principle, and just doesnt think about dollar signs.

Either that, or he thought if he refused they would return with a better offer, and when they didn't he thought "Whoops, best claim I turned it down on principal" haha

Na I am sure he turned it down for the reasons he states, but I don't get why he was so funny about a prequel anyways. He was handed these characters to do something with, and now he doesn't seem to want to want to let go.

i respect him for that, alot of people would of sold out.

alan moore not being on these books is the reason i'm not reading them.

watchmen should of been one classic series way back 1986 but dc decided to milk it.

Don't get it..Watchmen is great graphic novel but the characters themselves are just knock off versions of other characters.

Moore should have took the money.
These prequels have zero effect on the quality of the original book.

Moore has a big ego & a smaller bank account.

If he really didn't want this prequels to happen then why didn't he take the rights back to the characters when DC offered them back to him? I admire him for turning down the offer and I think he's great writer but whenever he's interviewed he's always complaining or just being miserable. I love his work, just hate the guy behind the work.

Talk about being all ate up w/ your own stubborn ass principles:( I luv his work and his DVD vanity project was interesting as well as all the interviews, but c'mon!!! It was a decent gesture, they didn't have to offer. He refuses their money and people think he's heroic? The same fans on here who love him for being rigid, would love him if he took the money. We love him for his talent, not his pigheadedness. But he's on track to be remembered for being a dick, instead of his body of work....That's SAD:(
