Part 3 of our DBZ fan cast is here. If you have been following along you will see that we are committed to creating a consistent fan cast for all the DBZ fans out there. You will notice we have been casting for each saga trying to bring you the best actors to portray your favorite characters. If you have not been following us then you should start. We are controversial and we welcome the criticism as much as we welcome the praise. As always we want to thank you all for the support and reading our article. Without further ado here is your DBZ fan cast for the Cell/Android Saga.
Reintroducing
Tyler Kitsch as Goku
By this time he would have been well cemented as the perfect choice for Goku. He was chosen because of his role as John Carter (John Carter) and Gambet (X-Men Origins) he has the look and charm. He is an up and coming actor that we agreed could bring out the best of Goku in a live action adaption.
Rick Yune as Vegeta
Rick Yune is the perfect Vegeta from his look all the way down to his voice. He really cemented this choice playing the main antagonist in Olympus Has Fallen (Kang) he was vicious, smooth, and displayed his ability to act. His character was everything we love to hate about Vegeta and as Zen Yi (Man w/ the Iron Fists) he was the protagonist which Vegeta ultimately becomes.
Urijah Faber as Krillin
Faber was met with some criticism and rightfully so but we stand firm with him as Krillin because he looks the part and after the first movie Faber would have gotten his feet wet as an actor. By the time the Cell Saga rolls around he would be a more polished actor and would bring an extra toughness to the strongest human on DBZ.
Djimon Honsou as Piccolo
Djimon exudes all that is Piccolo the look, the strength, the personality, and the martial arts skill. He will excel greatly at bringing out all the qualities that we love about Piccolo.
Daniel Henney as Yamcha
Yamcha was mostly a punching bag for DBZ villains but we want to make Yamcha a bit stronger than his original character. Daniel Henney will do just that.
Tahmoh Pienkitt as Tien
Some will argue my previous statement crowning Krillin as the strongest human instead of Tien. Tien a very strong warrior who shows up at the most opportune times. He has the unrealistic goal of surpassing Goku that says a lot about Tien as a warrior. Pienkitt was the choice because his work as Emerson on MoS, his small role n Smallville because of many fn cast out there.
Irrfan Khan as Mr. Popo
We chose Khan because we needed someone that would bring out the wise side of Popo. We want to tweak his character to make him less cartoonish and more of a realistic servant and advisor to Dende.
Dani Dare as Dende
Dende the young guardian of the Earth is innocent and caring. Dare looks the part to bring out the qualities we love about Dende
Erica Durance as Bulma
Bulma is smart, opinionated, sometimes loud, but her strength is what makes her. Durce has played strong characters before her sexiness, her look, is exactly what we needed for Bulma.
Kristin Kreuk as Chi Chi
Kreuk was the choice because of her strong character roles in Smallville, Street Fighters, and most recently Beauty and the Beast. Kreuk will bring out the toughness that Chi Chi exudes.
Jackie Chan as Master Roshi
Master Roshi is funny, wise, a horn dog and a skilled fighter. Chan has played many characters over his illustrious career so having play Roshi is an easy decision. Chan can not only pull it off (with the help of Hollywood makeup) but he will bring in a big fan base to see him play in a DBZ movie.
Morgan Freeman as Kami
Morgan Freeman has played God twice (Bruce Almighty and Evan All Mighty) the President of the US (Deep Impact) and the Speaker of the House (Olympus Has Fallen) who better than to play the Guardian of the Earth. In this series his reign ends as he fuses with Piccolo to help defeat the Androids.
Ken Jeong as King Kai
Anyone who has seen Hangover knows Jeong as Chow. King Kai is meant to be funny and wise but very funny and Bobby Lee can add comic relief to the death that comes during the DBZ series.
Hiroyski Sandana as Frieza (Mecha Frieza)
Sandana was great in The Last Samurai and will be seen in the upcoming movie The Wolverine displaying his great ability and fighting skills. Hiroyuki reprises his role as Mecha Frieza only to be killed by Trunks. But we want a great fight scene between Frieza and our Trunks.
Introducing
Derek Mears as King Cold
Mears was the pick to play Frieza’s vengeful father because of his size (6’9) his history as Jason (Friday the 13th) as Edward in Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. We needed someone that looked the part of Cold and put on a semi decent fight against Trunks for about 5mins.
Brian Wade as Android 16
Brian Wade was the choice because of his role I MTVs hit series Teen Wolf as an intimidating Alpha Ennis. He is tall (6’3) with a great build to bring out the intimidating side of Android 16 and we trust that he will be capable of bringing out the awkward, nurturing, nature loving side as well.
Ian Somerhalder as Android 17
Ian not only was the first choice he was the only choice to play 17. Ian is known as Damon Salvatore from CW’s Vampire Diaries. Ian’s character Damon is the equivalent to DBZ’s 17. They are both dark, mysterious, funny, yet serious, and smooth which exactly what we were looking for.
Kristen Bell as Android 18
Bell is wildly known as Veronica Mars she will play the lead role in Lifeguard an upcoming dramedy. Bell looks the part of Android 18 she can look beautiful and intimidating at the same time. We went with her because of her acting ability and we wanting 18 to seem more human like Android 16 suggest during the series.
Ray Park as Android 19
Android 20 will be CGI motion captured my stuntman Ray Park who plays Snake Eyes on both G.I. movies. He will be voiced by Todd Haberkorn who voiced 19 on Dragonball Z Kai. (Dragonball.wikia.com)
Robert Carlyle as Dr. Gero/Android 20
Dr. Gero the revenge seeking mad scientist that sought revenge on Goku after the destruction of his Red Ribbon Army. Gero created Androids that destroyed many of our Z Fighters in Future Trunk’s time. Robert Carlyle is excellent as Rumpelstiltskin in Once Upon a Time which is why we chose him to play the devilish Dr. Gero.
Hulk Hogan as Hercule
Out of all the cast he was the hardest to find an actor for. This will be met with heavy criticism but the decision makes sense. Hercule is cheesy, corny, arrogant, funny, big, and lives in the 80s. Hulk Hogan can bring out all of those qualities. Yes he is old and yes he is a wrestler but not without acting experience (he is a wrestler after all) Hercule will not a majir role but not a minor role either we need him for comic relief and to “defeat” Cell.
Tom Hardy as Cell
We decided Tom Hardy was the perfect fit after many deliberations. But ultimately it was his performance as Bain in The Dark Knight Rises that lead us to him. He was so believable and intimidating as Bain we knew he would bring those same things to Cell. Cell comes for only one reason and that is to kill we imagines his acting ability will make Cell memorable.
Leo Howard as Teen Gohan
I know there we be a ton of flak for this pick but we needed someone who would bring out both the best that Gohan has to offer We switched Gohan’s because we wanted to age him as well as ring in an actor that kind of resemble Dakota Goyo. Gohan was the strongest Z Fighter in this series and we wanted a strong fighter to play him. Howard is great as Jack I Disney’s Kickin’ it showing he has much potential. He had a great fight scene with Brandon Soo Hoo in G.I. Joe The Rise of the Cobra. He has the look and acting ability to capture all that is Teen Gohan.
Rain as Future Trunks
Trunks was difficult to cast but Rain was a unanimous choice. Rain was excellent in Ninja Assassin showing his skills and ultimately made him our Trunks. Rain looks relatively young but obviously not a teenager so we can make the necessary story line adjustments to make Future Trunks a tad bit older to iron out any wrinkles. Rain will put on great fight scenes as well as carry those who are more of actors than martial artist.
There you have it! This is the Android/Cell Saga’s main cast. The ancillary characters like Hercule’s followers aren’t that important at the moment and the Cell Juniors will be CGI in our make believe movie. Please leave s your comments good or bad and I will reply. Check out my other fan cast as well. As always THANKS FOR READING.
