The Amazing Spider-Man is an upcoming American superhero film directed by Marc Webb, based on the comic book of the same name and starring Andrew Garfield as the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film that portrays Spider-Man in film and is a reboot of the film series that stars the superhero. The cast includes Garfield as Peter Parker and his alter ego, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors. The film will portray Parker as his super powers are evolving in high school.

The film's development began simultaneously with Sony announcing the cancellation of Spider-Man 4. Opting for a reboot with the same production team rather than another sequel, the studio announced a July 2012 release date for what was now titled The Amazing Spider-Man. James Vanderbilt was hired to write the script while Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves helped fine-tune the script. Filming started in December 2010 in Los Angeles before moving to New York City with the help of RED Epic camera. The film entered post-production in April 2011.

Sony Entertainment has focused its marketing campaign with a promotional website with released images, 2 theatrical trailers, a prologue screening in certain cities and a video game tie-in being developed by Beenox among other products. The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012. A sequel of the film is being planned for release in 2014 with James Vanderbilt hired to again write the screenplay.

Crossbones - 6/21/2012, 5:59 AM
That was pretty tense, although I'm pretty sure cause of the spoilers who the old man is and who the potentional villain in the next movie is. Ah well, it'll still be worth it. Hopefully this will be as good as the trailer show, which is excellent and close to epic.
AlexDeLarge87 - 6/21/2012, 6:21 AM
That dude is so dead ;)
AutobotCommander84 - 6/21/2012, 6:31 AM
Norman Osborn? So he is in the movie. Or at least mentioned.
Emanuel14 - 6/21/2012, 6:31 AM
even norman osborn?
dellamorte1872 - 6/21/2012, 6:33 AM
its obvious the ult. villain in part 3 will be VENOM they did the "ultimate richard parker route" interesting. i feel like CHAMELEON will make sense in 2 then at least as a side villain to steal or fool PETE into finishing his Father's "work"
AutobotCommander84 - 6/21/2012, 6:33 AM
Oh, and also, I think this might take The Avengers' place for best superhero movie ever.
boiling - 6/21/2012, 6:38 AM
can someone pls tell me what the huge spoilers are?!
english is not my native languageg so...its hard for me to understand that dude...
cashsteele - 6/21/2012, 6:38 AM
It sounds like they are developing a formula to save Norman Osbourne, he must be sick and thus the reason Conners & Ratha are talking...
Morpheus82 - 6/21/2012, 6:39 AM
So if Norman Osborn is in the sequel should Willem Dafoe again reprise his role?
SeaborneLegend - 6/21/2012, 6:42 AM
Hmm so Norman Osborne will be more of a tragic villain? Interesting... Also, PROTO GOBLIN ! :D
Opt1mu5Pr1m4l - 6/21/2012, 6:43 AM
I think I heard the Indian dude say Oz. As in the formula that Osborn creates in the Ultimate comics.
ralfinader - 6/21/2012, 6:45 AM
Well done scene. Captured alot of tension, and no mustache twirling. I loved the Raimi movies (1 & 2 anyways) but this just felt way more serious than any scene from those. Webb has definately brought a different tone to this.
dellamorte1872 - 6/21/2012, 6:45 AM
not a big fan of that rogue @53 but it makes sense organically to this story plus, RAIMI didnt use him so y'know WEBB may try
dellamorte1872 - 6/21/2012, 6:46 AM
but he isnt big in the ult. universe maybe they'll have NORMIE'S "MONSTER" GREEN GOBLIN?
dellamorte1872 - 6/21/2012, 6:48 AM
SHOCKER/ELECTRO combine the characters similar to NEESON in B.B thatd be awesome!
dellamorte1872 - 6/21/2012, 6:49 AM
thats my personal "dream" for this iteration of SPIDEY
ralfinader - 6/21/2012, 6:49 AM
@ImmortalVigilante - No. Not that he couldn't play a totally different Osborne, because he could, guys a acting monster. But probably better to distance this version from the Raimi one as much as possible if they want to continue on in this rebooted franchise.
MrsTonyStark0507 - 6/21/2012, 6:49 AM
This movie looks really good, but I have zero expectations going in. I think that is why I will really like it.

Can someone please explain to me why there has to be a competition for greatest movie? Why can't we just enjoy the fact that it is a glorious nerdtastic summer (and looks like it will be for a few summers to come)? I am just so over this stupid war!! It is so freakin annoying!! :/
R888 - 6/21/2012, 6:49 AM
damn I wish I never saw that but looking good
SpeedyX10 - 6/21/2012, 6:49 AM
Did he say Richard Parker wore a suit as in a suit similar to the goblin in the other spiderman movies?
dellamorte1872 - 6/21/2012, 6:52 AM
no @IMF - he designs the "symbiote" in the ult. canon
eoin3 - 6/21/2012, 7:05 AM
@IronManFan10

He was talking about dr Connors "shock and indignation" he said that Richard Parker felt the same way and that he "wore it well" but on Dr Connors it was like a "cheap suit"...
MrReese - 6/21/2012, 7:05 AM
Death of Gwen coming 2 a theater near u XD
PanochaLibre - 6/21/2012, 7:17 AM
That indian guy is a horrible actor. He almost seems pissed off to be in the movie. I bet he doesn't shower often, and that's why the lizard goes into the sewers, thinking the stench is really Indian guy.
eoin3 - 6/21/2012, 7:20 AM
@cobb1995

It seems that Dr Ratha is trying to talk Dr. Connors into starting human trials on the formula he developed but Dr Connors doesn't feel it's ready or safe. Dr Ratha mentioned that 15 years ago Richard Parker felt the same way about either this or a different project which seemed maybe to have been a threat or warning seeing as Richard Parker dissapered.
Dr Ratha mentions that someone may die if they don't test the formula. Dr connors replies that Everyone dies even Norman Osborn (suggesting that one of the purposes of the formula may be to save Osborn's life). Dr Connors declines to proceed with human testing and Dr Ratha states that the company owns the formula now and will go forward with testing and suggests that they may take it to a veterans hospital under the pretense of it being a winter flu vaccine. Dr Ratha then tells Dr Connors to clear out his office by morning because his department and research has been shut down. Oh and he makes a snide comment about how Dr Connors won't be getting a new arm now...
soda9 - 6/21/2012, 7:23 AM
****SPOILER POST!!!!! *******DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED*********

My friends saw the film and he said that Osborn is referred to a few times as being ill and dying. It's not said what kind of disease he has, but he's dying. He has to use cross species genetics to cure him. While he also wants to be a super human!

*********ANOTHER BIG SPOILER!!!!************

MICHAEL MASSEE IS NORMAN OSBORN! He's only seen in the shadows.
ThreeBigTacos - 6/21/2012, 7:25 AM
PanochaLibre: You mean the way your comment reeks of racism?
PeterParker1991 - 6/21/2012, 7:27 AM
Interesting clip. I like that Osborn is mentioned. I got a feeling Connors is going to go after this dude as Lizard and maybe kill him. Can't wait to find out.
grifter - 6/21/2012, 7:42 AM
I really want to see the monster Osborn. Him being sick only makes it sweeter because it plays to the Ultimate side of the character. I am sure in the sequel he will be spewing his evolution nonsense. Hoping the next movie takes place in the college years, while the last takes place when he works at the daily bugle. One thing I really want to see someday, is a fight in the rain against one of his rouges.
PanochaLibre - 6/21/2012, 7:45 AM
@threebeantacos not being racist. I just happen to think he looks like he has bad breath and as if he hadn't showered in days or as you put in in "reeks" I wasn't saying that because he is Indian. His acting stinks and that was the point you missed. I don't always mean thing pejoratively, but when I do, you'll know it.
Stay thirsty my friend.
Wetboy40 - 6/21/2012, 7:48 AM
Grif is....SHIT!!!

This movie looks....AWESOME!!
superotherside - 6/21/2012, 8:07 AM
That was amazing! Very cool. They even mentioned the Oz formula. :)
JMESS - 6/21/2012, 8:21 AM
NO MORE GOBLINS !!!! Please god, hint at him sure but if the next movie has one in it im gonna snap, how many wicked villains havent we seen yet in spidey movies !!? I dunno maybe the first piece of crap movie got me all bent out of shape, then the 3rd piece of crap movie nailed it home so im just wrecked for life on goblins, but come on! ive been a spiderman fan for 30 years ish and I would love to see other villains ... just my opinion
HonestFan - 6/21/2012, 8:30 AM
Not a rumor about Michael Massee. All one has to do is visit: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0557219/ and you'll read that he is indeed 'the man in the shadows'... who is indeed: N. Osborne
Dedpool - 6/21/2012, 8:42 AM
So this is interesting. It's kind of leaning towards the Ultimate version of Green goblin down the line. I mean if he's sick and going to use this stuff to make him better, and it will be derived from the serum that creates the lizard, and then possibly the protogoblin in a sequel (maybe called the Hobgoblin) then I can see it changing him into the hulikng fire ball throwing Goblin.
Lockjaw - 6/21/2012, 8:49 AM

2012: Amazing Spiderman - The Lizard
2014: Spectacular Spiderman - Proto-goblin / Oz / Hobgoblin / Death of Gwen
2017: Web of Spiderman - Electro / Jackal / Ben Reilly / Scarlet-Spider / Black Cat / SHIELD
2020: Ultimate Spiderman - Venom / Carnage
Ranger14 - 6/21/2012, 8:51 AM
"I dunno...I found that to be a very "snoozy" kind of scene. Neither character really showed any kind of emotion. No tension really at all, even when Connors is told he would have to clear out the next day.
Spidey31 - 6/21/2012, 8:59 AM
I'm pretty sure we all knew micheal masse was playing Osborn lol it was reported months ago
ironkidd - 6/21/2012, 9:07 AM
This is too much cant wait and cant watch anymore
TheAbomination - 6/21/2012, 10:00 AM
Well, I guess this confirms it. Osborn's gonna be in the sequel. Let's cross our fingers for Christoph Waltz.
Spidey31 - 6/21/2012, 10:04 AM
No, TASM series has to be a trilogy and it has to end quick before Andrew gets to old. Unless they move it to college.
Spidey31 - 6/21/2012, 10:13 AM
If the reviews keep coming out positive like they are now! Then this is what I think will happen, we introduce MJ in the sequel, proto-goblin/venom. Bang we only have proto-goblin in the beginning and we later on focus on Eddie Brock. N.osborn is also introduced and we set him up as the villian in the next installment( if there will be one? Who knows)
spideyxmenfan307 - 6/21/2012, 10:26 AM
You know what would be cool? If Marvel would get the spider-man rights and they would fit Nick Fury somewhere where he would warn peter about Norman Osborn just like in the Ultimate Universe.
skidz - 6/21/2012, 10:54 AM
It's just like the Osborne's to manipulate people into doing their dirty work. This is a fantastic set up for a sequel. You don't usually see that foresight in franchises. And we'll finally be able to take Spidey's villains seriously.
DragonofDarknessXIII - 6/21/2012, 11:05 AM
So, they doing the cross genetics thing experiments because Norman Osbourne is dying from a disease. They developed a formula that'll enhanced Osborn's genetics that will cure and give him super strength but will drive Osborn insane.... I wonder if Harry's gonna play into TASM universe?

Now we know why the Lizard is after Dr. Ratha.

12 Days to go! then 29 days til TDKR!! I can't wait!
SymbioteJoker - 6/21/2012, 11:53 AM
Best way to do this is to have Osbourne take serum that makes him mutate into goblin but still uses glider and pumpkin bombs. Intoduce MJ and Eddie Brock in 2 and kill gwen in 3.
spideyboy - 6/21/2012, 12:03 PM
Am I the only one that was thinking that there was going to be a S.H.I.E.LD. reference in there? Lol anyway, this clip was solid. Can't wait for the movie.
JMESS - 6/21/2012, 12:10 PM
@BossWalsh yes I am well aware of the goblin being the "joker" for spidey but that doesnt mean we need to see him every 2nd film is my point, when we havent seen so many of the great villains in the spiderman world (too many to name) atleast show a few different ones before milking the goblin cow to death is what I meant, and again 30+ years of following him, as a real fan id just like to see some of the others before re-visiting the goblin... again
