It seems as though the sequel for The Amazing Spider-Man is finally taking shape. With Jamie Foxx in negotiations to star as Electro, and Marc Webb's intentions on uncovering the untold story it really sounds as though we can expect the sequel to fill the gaps from the first part.

So the script is done, and Webb is even testing Imax cameras? That doesn't sound so bad...does it?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to be released May 2. 2014.

I never went to see it in theaters, can everyone honestly tell me if I missed out on a good Spidey movie or I just didn't miss much?
Tony93 - 11/1/2012, 9:14 PM
Im considering this as the Issue #0 of the films..
so better make 3 more movies.
Tony93 - 11/1/2012, 9:15 PM
@bane2099
No you didnt miss out, typical mentor wreaks havoc and spidey swings in to save the day just in the nick of time
Funsize - 11/1/2012, 9:22 PM
I hate reboots so much
jimpinto24 - 11/1/2012, 9:27 PM
I'm not excited about TASM2!
MJPETTY7 - 11/1/2012, 9:29 PM
I loved ASM, I have no clue what you guys were talking about. It was the un-sung hero of the summer, just like X-Men: First Class was last year. I can't wait for the sequel!
Tony93 - 11/1/2012, 9:29 PM
this is from someone who was really optimistic about the movie.. I was happy going inside.. sitting down.. the beginning was good..
But then there were times during the movie where I was like.. "smh" so disappointing

I don't get all the Hate for TAS. I rather enjoyed it. Was it perfect, no, but it was a good start. And to me, it felt more like Spidey to me. I never bought Toby's Parker. Too timid and golly gee Mr. Osborne. TAS had solid performances and the practical stunts looked way better.
CharacterAssassin - 11/1/2012, 9:37 PM
@Masked... add this(<)at very beginning.
darkmetal - 11/1/2012, 9:47 PM
@Scorpion8125 The fact that this film got some strong reviews I think points to critics being bombarded with such horrible films with pointless CGI that some are losing sight of whats good or not.
ASM was no better than The Phantom Menace or X-3 yet it got better reviews.
And while Iron Man was phenomenal, Iron Man 2 was as bad as Ang Lee's Hulk and far, far worse than Spider-Man 3. But people love Downey JR so much his presence and a couple others make the movie seem better than it was.
The critics today aren't calling films out for obvious flaws and films are getting a pass.
This is obviously happening and I bet somewhere out there there are critics who would agree.

ricko8687 - 11/1/2012, 9:50 PM
A lot of fans will disagree with this but in my opinion Garfield made a better Spider-Man than Toby McGuire
SamWinchester - 11/1/2012, 9:50 PM
I really liked Webb's take on the Spider-Man mythos.
deanwilkins - 11/1/2012, 9:51 PM
I loved it. Garfield hit a home run.
DivinePeaceTime - 11/1/2012, 9:55 PM
I 100% AGREE with ricko8687
AmericanPsychoWolf - 11/1/2012, 9:56 PM
I think Andrew's a better actor then Tobey but he was portrayed so wrong in TASM. This was my second anticipated movie after The Dark Knight Rises (Avengers didn't caught my eye til after the Superbowl trailer)and you can imagine the disappointment after seeing this.

I hope the sequel's good but I'm not getting my hopes up.
masterhater - 11/1/2012, 9:59 PM
It was better than the first version.
weaponx123 - 11/1/2012, 10:00 PM
Jamie Foxx as Electro? What a bad choice.......hes such a great actor but doesnt seem right to play him to me.....plus I still want to see him and Bruce Willis do the Kane and Lynch film!
Jollem - 11/1/2012, 10:00 PM
masterhater - 11/1/2012, 10:01 PM
Brazilianbatman I agree with everything you just wrote 100%!
JDUKE25 - 11/1/2012, 10:04 PM
Acting-wise, Garfield and Stone were excellent. Just, how the story played out, the whole "untold story" crap, and the Lizard were the low points of the movie.

Had some decent action scenes and some good moments.

But for the sequel, just make the suit look how it should look, have a more interesting villain, Electro alone will not cut it, build up for the Death of Gwen Stacy story for the third movie, and have more Spider-Man scenes (with his mask staying ON his head). Enough is enough with his mask coming off or being torn to shreds in EVERY, SINGLE, climax of a Spider-Man movie.
Tony93 - 11/1/2012, 10:06 PM
yes andrew was better though.. but movie sucked
BenderDickCumPatch - 11/1/2012, 10:09 PM
So my phoen [frick]ed up @CharacterAssassin.
Tony93 - 11/1/2012, 10:13 PM
Andrew was great.. but besides him..
These shit on TASM

TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:14 PM
New to the site. Shout out galactus. I've been coming to this site for years and now I'm a member. I have to say asm was better than all 3 of the garbage juice trilogy that raimi did. Those were kid movies. This movie had me all in. I've been a marvel fan going back to toy biz, uncanny xmen from the 90's, marvel masterpiece cards, genesis games, and so on.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:17 PM
And how do u add a user pic? Can anybody help a dude out.
MasterApoc81 - 11/1/2012, 10:18 PM
you cant please everyone ...its better than expected ..i liked it and i like the modernization of it while nodding to the origins lol
novaprime - 11/1/2012, 10:20 PM
Hmm still afraid of Electro Changing races, wasnt he RedSkull Son & vhameleons Brother ?
JR - 11/1/2012, 10:21 PM
I saw on blu TAS recently and is must say it was pure crap, sorry for the hate but TAS is the Superman Returns of Marvel, this director missed the point in the movie and is already talking crap about the sequel.....
MasterApoc81 - 11/1/2012, 10:24 PM
marc webb is a really down to earth guy that actually was open to stuff and im happy we are seeing a new villian and im happy they got the script down and moving forward good job guys
TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:26 PM
@Brazilianbatman I agree with u. Jamie foxx playing electro is a brave move. Certain characters need a revamp and electro is one of them. Foxx is multi talented he will do justice to electro I'm sure.
MasterApoc81 - 11/1/2012, 10:30 PM
scorp it was better than the third for sure they ruined the third ....they ruined venom for sure ....he should been the only villian and that musical shit could have went out the door and the new goblin not in a costume lol cmon
QuanZen - 11/1/2012, 10:32 PM
Garfield was a way better Spidey than Tobey. And thank goodness we finally had a decent looking leading lady. Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane?! Really?! Hopefully they find an attractive Mary Jane in this reboot.
SuspenseSmith - 11/1/2012, 10:32 PM
I can just imagine a scene like this.

Spider-Man is swinging through the city as normal, doing his patrol of things. Suddenly all the street lights go dark on the street. He stops and turns as he hears zapping and thundering from the distance. As he turns, he barely makes out something in the darkness, highlighted by flashes of electricity. Electro is sinisterly revealed.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:32 PM
Raimi movies were booty juice. Spiderman with his mask off for most of all the movies. Parker crying and whining, doc ock with a weak costume and he kills himself super weak. Peter doesn't have powers for most of part 2. Mary Jane ugly as hell. New goblin garbage juice, Eddie Brock was a skinny dude. And don't forget dancing parker. I can go on and on. And smashed that trilogy easy.
SuspenseSmith - 11/1/2012, 10:35 PM
Still the only people I see bitchin' about TASM are the assholes on this site.

EVERYONE I know, and I mean everyone, a whole film department at a major university, friends and family across continents, everyone that saw it enjoyed this film.

I'm sorry to say, you haters are in a very sad, bitter, pathetic minority.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:38 PM
@SuspenseSmith right on the money.
dwaynejohnsonsfromundahcheesepanini - 11/1/2012, 10:40 PM
Ingrates. :-P TASM was a great setup and solid first film in what we know will definitely be a trilogy at least.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN WAS INDEED AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRING ON THE SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SuspenseSmith - 11/1/2012, 10:52 PM
@Scorpion

Titanic and Avatar still made more money than Avengers.

Dredd made nothing.

Money =/= Quality

Money =/= Popularity

Money =/= Jack Shit when it comes to movies.

Your argument is invalid. Numbers do lie. Just ask a politician.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:53 PM
Asm can connect with the mcu so easily. U can easily see this new series of movies will have a huge ultimate spiderman influence so don't be surprised to see a real green goblin being the fact that osbourne is sick and all supposedly.
SuspenseSmith - 11/1/2012, 10:55 PM
And TASM grossed more money than Batman Begins, both reboots after an unpopular movie of the franchise that made a lot of money.

Spider-Man 3 made a lot of money because of the popularity of the other two films. It dropped afterwards.

TASM still made 700 mil+ A lot of movies don't come close to that that are still popular.
LoudLon - 11/1/2012, 10:56 PM
TASM had a lot of faults but what it got right, it got REALLY right -- namely, Spidey in action and Peter's persona when he's in the suit. Aside from that, I was hugely underwhelmed.

But, it was Webb's first stab. It wasn't perfect, but then neither was Raimi's first Spidey flick (especially the parade scene, which was straight of Batman '89, complete with clowny balloons). Hopefully, also like Raimi, his second effort will be a drastic improvement.

We'll see.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 11/1/2012, 10:58 PM
Avengers was a 10/10! But nothing is perfect so I will give it a 9.9/10
