Mark Hamill Has His Fingers Crossed In Hopes of 'Joker' Reprise

This may not be anything, but Mark Hamill has finally spoken out about the animated film being developed by Warner Bros., Batman: The Killing Joke, an adaptation from the graphic novel of the same name which recounts the Joker's "origin story" as a stand-up comic turned psychopath who (does or does not?) get 'killed' by Batman at the end of the series. It's no surprise that Hamill himself would be a huge fan of the novel, and has even expressed interest in 2011 to reprise role, saying he would 'love' to provide the voice. Fans have gone as far as to create a facebook petition page demanding Hamill reprise his role in an animated adaptation in 2011.

Since news broke that they were going to adapt the novel into an animated film, fans have been vocal about his involvement in the film and now, finally, Hamill speaks. Like all of us, he too, has his fingers crossed that Warner Bros will call him to reprise his role as the Joker.

Are you guys hopeful about his involvement in the animated adaptation? Sound off below!

This needs to happen with Hamill and Conroy, and with WB's best animation. This story deserves nothing less than the best. And what a way for Hamill to bow out of the role than with what would surely be his finest Joker performance. Hell, get Timm and Dini on it too (if they aren't already). They could even fit it in the DCAU, that'd be cool (although I would prefer it if the animation was more akin to Red Hood, although with better character designs).

This project has me really excited though. It could end up being one of the best Batman stories put on screen if done right.

@Jollem see! He's perfect!

If we're talking animation, Joker has really only shown up in Red Hood, TDKR, and Assault on Arhkam. All of those movies took place after Hamill "retired" from playing the part.

To add on, Hamill has been stressing to do this for years, enough to start a petition so you can bet that he had a hand in this being announced. Also with Bruce Timm attached you can pretty much guarantee he's gonna get the part.

I think Conroy said he he's going to be working on two projects. I'm guessing it's going to be Killing Joke and Justice League vs. Titans. I doubt it's gonna be Batman: Bad Blood because that is set in the new 52 animation which doesn't have Conroy. So, Conroy and Hamill go hand in hand.

To be honest, with the right cinematography and makeup, they could have used Hamill in the live action movies. I think Leto will do ok, but someone Mark Hamill's age would have fit well with Ben Affleck's Batman. Just an opinion of course, but could you have imagined the animated jokers voice along with movie grade violence. I believe he would be GLORIOUS...

AND While I still plan on giving Suicide a shot, I can't help but think Leto will be disappointing. Hamill, for me, just provides the most true personality to the Joker comparatively. Don't misunderstand, I still enjoy Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger's incarnations, I just prefer Hamill as the Joker.

@VisionaryNPA Timm being involved is definitely a good thing, but if they actually got Alan Moore's blessing then that's a huge surprise and definitely another indicator that this could be something really special.
