Hahaha, he's scientific but knows nothing about science :). Gotta love this man.

Yeah, he's brilliant! Science as the basis for super-human power was a stroke of genius. It makes everything much more believable.

Stan-the -man!

I love Stan Lee but how does the Silver Surfer's board fly than? It just sorta assumes a horizontal position and off it goes. Same as Superman. perfectly understandable;)

Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 3/14/2012, 12:54 PM
Gusto, thats microwave radiation, you need gamma ray radiation..its more scientific that way.

Didn't Jack Kirby created Silver Surfer?

Got to love Stan, making it clear he has no idea how anything works and doesn't care as long as it sounds cool. In short, Superman needs a flying train. And seriously, the invisible jet of Wonder Woman. Stan has GOT to love the invisible jet.

"And I used to say, You guys are crazy that you don’t do it. These fans are the ones who are keeping you in business and when you talk to them and they tell you what they like and what they don’t like, it’s the greatest education you can get for the work that you do".- Stan Lee

Thanx Stan - that's why we love ya!!!
THEDARKKNIGHT1939
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 3/14/2012, 12:56 PM
Well Stan Lee didn't make the idea of giving superheros their powers scientifically. I recall The flash getting his powers in a chemistry lab. The flash was created in 1940
Benjamitesandwich
Benjamitesandwich - 3/14/2012, 12:56 PM
@Ryguy

Simple: Silver Surfer's board flies because of cosmic power. Perfectly scientific.

@RYGUY88 i don't know if you're from Philly or not (i'm assuming because of your flyers avatar that you live in the area) but Stan's attending Wizard World Philadelphia this year...thought i'd let you know. I'm a Philly man myself and i'm trying to get down there to see him because Stans the [frick]in man

He's clearly lost his marbles. Talking smack about Superman is like talking smack about Jesus. I get he is Stan "The Man", but Superman was created when he was like 16 years old, and is probably why he got into comics.

Plus, didn't Superman just jump really far in the beginning? I could've sworn I heard that.

Questioning the visual of Supes flying in a movie is hardly talking 'smack', and was a lead in to his not so subtle joke about Silver Surfer's 'scientific' flight.

And this is Stan the Man, he would likely be the first to tell you he never had any marbles to begin with.

@teabag- That's hilarious!
One good thing tho: her boobs get BIGGER when she's pregnant-!, and SHE becomes the protein source.

Sh**, screw the Beatles and tea, this here's the UK's greatest export.

mstaley3000
mstaley3000 - 3/14/2012, 3:50 PM
It's funny, he says, "I didn’t just have Spider-Man gain a spider power miraculously" which is just what Jack Kirby wanted to have happen which must be why Stan took Spider-Man away from Jack and gave him to Ditko. Kirby wanted Spider-Man to be a kid with a magic ring (an idea he took from Joe Simon). Later that idea became, The Fly.
SpiderFan35
SpiderFan35 - 3/14/2012, 4:31 PM
Oh Lord Superman fans, it's okay, Superman is really scientific too lol. I don't think Stan meant to hurt your feelings (I did not realise that he is 90, wow.)

Let's keep in mind that when all of these characters were created the average joe did not know much about "science" so stuff like kryptonite and radioactivity were cool as shit.

Now they have to make up a bunch of complicated scientific explanations for all of these powers to keep us geeks happy.

@Tea: I am going to have to get my doctor to write a prescription for more boobs to show the wife.
