TDKR PICKS UP 8 YRS AFTER THE DARK KNIGHT
Without a doubt, this was probably the biggest bit of news to emerge about The Dark Knight Rises. It's pretty hard to shock people in today's been-there-done-that society but I'm sure I wasn't alone in picking my jaw off the floor when Christopher Nolan dropped that bombshell.

JUST WHO THE HELL IS JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT PLAYING?
From the moment it was announced that Christopher Nolan was bringing his Inception co-stars Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt onto The Dark Knight Rises, speculation has run rampant about which roles they might play. While it is pretty much given these days that Cotillard is playing Miranda Tate/ Talia al Ghul, no one is really buying the statement from WB that Levitt is playing Gotham City beat-cop, John Blake. There are rumors running rampant that Levitt is playing everyone from the Holiday Killer to Dick Grayson and some even believe he's a member of the Falcone crime family, in fact the son of Tom Wilkinson's character in "Batman Begins.

NEVER MIND LEVITT, WHO IS JUNO TEMPLE PLAYING?
Is she Harley Quinn, is she Holly Robinson, Stephanie Brown? There has been no official word from WB on Temple's character. However, Total Film sure seems to think she's playing Holly Robinson. When asked about her character, "Holly Robinson" Temple replied with a typical evasive answer but interestingly, didn't deny that she's playing Robinson. This may be one question that doesn't get answered until we actually get to see the film.

NO VENOM FOR BANE?
Can't say I'm surprised by this bit of news that emerged from an interview with costume designer Lindy Hemming, as a toxin that insanely increases muscle mass doesn't really fit into the realism that Nolan has crafted into his Batman movies. Said Hemming, "He was injured early in his story. Hes suffering from pain and he needs gas to survive. He cannot survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at the back where there are two canisters of what ever it is..the anesthetic."

DID LIAM NEESON FILM A CAMEO?
Liam Neeson was apparently spotted on the set of TDKR filming scenes. The real question here is whether Neeson is alive and well or was he filming scenes for a flashback? This scoop also led to certain rumors involving a certain pit with incredible "restorative" properties...

IS THIS THE LAZARUS PIT?

BATMAN GETS A NEW VEHICLE.

SCARECROW RETURNS
He's been a constant in all of the Batman films from Nolan and after a brief appearance in The Dark Knight, it looks like Cillian Murphy will receive more screen time in TDKR. Reportedly, the Scarecrow has moved up the judicial ladder and is now a judge who will preside over court cases that decide whether Gotham's Elite live or die.

THE BATCAVE GETS AN UPGRADE

CATWOMAN'S BACKSTORY IN TDKR
Well, yours truly had the exclusive scoop way back in July that Catwoman would have a background akin to her portrayal in the graphic novel, Batman: Year One. Thanks to a certain concept artist, I was told that bit of news but I was forced to reign in assurances at the time due to the nature of concept art and it being super-early in the production. However, for all intents and purposes, many sites are presently considering it a given that Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle will have a very checkered past. Those of you lucky enough to see the TDKR prologue got a quick glimpse of a sullen Selina Kyle, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and riding in the back of a squad car.

EVEN MTV CAN'T PULL INFO OUT OF THE CAST

All thing's considered, not a whole lot has leaked out from the TDKR production that Christopher Nolan didn't plan on. We still don't really know who Juno Temple is playing, heck, we never even got a set photo of her. Is Joseph Gordon-Levitt Batman's ally or another adversary? And if Bane does indeed break the Bat, how exactly does he "rise" again? One thing's for sure, Christopher Nolan will have the answers on July 20, and they probably won't be the one's we expect but that's why we love the Batman movies to begin with.

Cool article.
Spoiler - The green screen pit is from the trailer where mercs go down wires and into the prison Bruce was in. I'm thinking it's a flashback of Bane with Ra's burning down a Arabic looking Pena Dura prison. The fire rises.
impenn8 - 12/28/2011, 4:23 PM
can't wait till see the new fully upgraded Batcave! lol
and man, yeah theres no giant penny, nor any other artifacts but..
manymade1 - 12/28/2011, 4:24 PM
Can you do one for Amazing Spider-Man Mark?
RunDTC - 12/28/2011, 4:28 PM
of everything listed, I'm most interested in JGL. I really wonder if there is something else to his character.
WellDrawn - 12/28/2011, 4:30 PM
I honestly can't understand anyone having a problem with Banes voice. Even in the bootleg prologue, I was able to easily make out everything he said.
Hell, he sounds exactly like what a guy with a giant metal contraption over his mouth should sound like, and I love his timing/pronunciation.
soberchimera - 12/28/2011, 4:32 PM
John Blake is really Deadshot maybe???
EditNinja - 12/28/2011, 4:45 PM
Nice article. Interesting tidbits.
NeoBaggins - 12/28/2011, 4:47 PM
@WellDrawn Bane's voice is sick. Haters gonna hate.
Supes17 - 12/28/2011, 4:58 PM
JGL is Killer Croc, guys

Look at the Batcave!
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 12/28/2011, 5:07 PM
You forgot that they said they won't be changing Bane's or Bats voice.
PoPcornDude - 12/28/2011, 5:16 PM
are Superman and batman living in the same universe ?
if so, what happened first:

Superman Man of Steel of tdk ?
or it is after tdkr ???

anyone knows ?
dahamma - 12/28/2011, 5:22 PM
THis is gonna be a wild ride. I just hope just this last time, Nolan gives me the real Batman. Meaning I want to see Batman become his identity more so than Wayne. And seeing Batman doing nearly impossible feats with his Bare hands!!!!
dahamma - 12/28/2011, 5:22 PM
@Popcorndude, I highly highly doubt they are in the same Universe, Nolan doesn't roll like that
Zordan - 12/28/2011, 5:31 PM
was there rumour of jokers laughing in movie or i was dreaming? :)
blueorangeny - 12/28/2011, 5:33 PM
@ Dahamma - never say never. I don't count out the following. Bane breaks Batman's back, Batman dips in the pit, recoups and gets younger. Perhaps it's a way to continue the same feel of Batman (perhaps it will be with someone else) but it continue with a 4th and 5th films. As far Supes, there's no official recognition or word that Superman exist or other heroes but can EASILY be changed. A quick reference during the movie can automatically combine universals, would we bitch.....no, so never say never.
blueorangeny - 12/28/2011, 5:34 PM
@ theninjaraven - As I said before, let's talk in August. By then we know which movie came out on top.
johan02 - 12/28/2011, 5:35 PM
@demonhunter, if JGL is infact Dick Greyson/Robin Idk if I could handle him not suitin up. Hell Ill be honest, I have always liked Robin more then Batts. So if Nolan even so much as puts Greyson onscreen, he better dam well have him gear up. I dont care if it dosent look like the comics, only that if they do have Greyson he better be ready for battle
daywalker1623 - 12/28/2011, 6:00 PM
Don't get me wrong I love Nolan's movies and I love what he has done with the Batman franchise. But, I wish he would stick more with the comics. It seems all he uses is the characters and makes up a story from there. That's why as a comic fan I prefer what Marvel is doing. I would love it if JGL was Robin but Nolan has said he wasn't going to go down the Robin road. Also, where is the batmobile? They destroyed the tumbler in TDK, the natural prgression would be making the batmobile. They rebuilt the cave and the mansion.
Again, love Nolan and his movies but as a fan it could be better. But we'll have to wait and see.
Supes17 - 12/28/2011, 6:07 PM
Man everyone is getting excited for this movie!
Even GRIF, lol..His brother taped his reaction to the trailers and soundtrack below

TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 12/28/2011, 6:12 PM
No Venom = No real Bane.

This is to "realistic"!!! LMAO, how can people say TDK is the best CBM to date, it's not a CBM, just happens to use unfaithful versions of the characters, 'Nuff Said.

This is BANE!

BLACKTHORN - 12/28/2011, 6:27 PM
Bane comes, breaks he bat, breaks gotham, the bat returns saves gotham, defeats bane, bane kills himself.
Lawliet - 12/28/2011, 6:28 PM
Nolan will kick so much ass next year, so many questions still don't have answers. only option is to watch this in IMAX :D
BLACKTHORN - 12/28/2011, 6:28 PM
oh and that's not the batcave.
rottencotten - 12/28/2011, 6:35 PM
The JGL speculation is one of the only reasons I'm going to watch this movie. If Greyson is the surprise,I hope it leads into a trilogy for himself. Skip Robin, and go right to Night Wing. Amongst the other rumors I have heard, the Riddler rumor has got to be my favorite. It would be a perfect ending to the movie if "John Blake" gets locked up in the asylum and begins talking in riddles; perhaps the perfect time for the Scarecrow to show his face. Bane is a complete mess from a comic book fan's point of view but for the general audience his character will work just fine...
KozmikPariah - 12/28/2011, 6:43 PM
I'd heard John Blake was a mishearing of Tom Blake and JGL is playing Catman and that'll tie into Catwoman somehow. You can search around and see where the character's called Tom Blake on some sites.
brewtownpsych - 12/28/2011, 6:57 PM
Lazarus pit would be rad but wouldn't fit the realistic universe. (oddly i think MOS would as he's an alien).

most importantly, i totally forgot about the Joker ... he is still alive in the movie continuity so i would be very surprised if they didn't figure out a way to address that. that would be way too big a loose end.
micvalpro - 12/28/2011, 7:32 PM
that isnt the lazarus pit, its actually the well we see in the trailer where those group of men are climbing down. if you notice there are ropes on the side. the green is to computerize the giant hole.
nowtheresaBATman - 12/28/2011, 7:34 PM
@gambitfreak
I'm willing to bet that you have a teddy bear named Osito just like Bane did it the comics & you cry yourself to sleep w/ it every night over the fact that Bane doesn't look as silly as he does in the comics in TDKR.
It's called an imagination. Nolan's got one.
DCnerd46 - 12/28/2011, 7:54 PM
This "realism" crap doesn't work w/ comic book movies. Christopher Nolan, you are [frick]ing up big time.

"I honestly can't understand anyone having a problem with Banes voice. "

...and I honestly can't get what people like about his voice. To me, Bane should have a rough, lower-register voice with a Latin accent, not some high-pitched, wheezy old man voice. We all have our opinions. To each their own. I am not liking it at all.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 12/28/2011, 8:41 PM
ELgUaSoN Exactly and love that last pic lol!

nowtheresaBATman For God sakes dude, you of all people should agree with me, actually I'm a Marvel Dude, so the outcome of the dumb movie won't bother me, it's just damn, Nolan needs to learn the difference between being realistic while being true to the source material and going overboard retarded, you gotta know this is pissing off DC fans. WTF IS THIS?

RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:04 PM
@gambitfreak

I'm sorry Bane looks straight up dumb in the comics. Plus we already got that version in Batman and Robin. Nobody knows who the hell Bane is besides comic book fans. I am 100% sure if you asked the average film goer which one looks better for a movie Bane from the comics or Nolan's Bane everybody will say they prefer Nolan's take on him.
Sorry dude, Bane is a terrific villain that has a horrible costume.

Plus you seem to be stuck on the word realistic dude. It is still a comic book movie. Batman lives in the same world were Spiderman, Superman and the Hulk would exist. A comic book universe. Just because a comic book movie strives for realism doesn't mean it deserves any less leeway as the other CBM. They all take place in a fictional universe dude.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:09 PM
Plus as anybody that fights will tell you being really big is a huge disadvantage. It's all about quickness, Bane's size is fine. If Bane were this huge hulking behemoth Batman would just dominate him because he would be incredibly quicker.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:20 PM
I agree Hellhound but remember comic book movies aren't made for comic book fans. I know that sounds stupid but it's true. I would estimate that 80-90% of the people that go see these movies have no clue what has happened in the comics. It's all about making a great movie, while keeping the villains and hero's the same at their core.

Like I've said before you have two types of fans. Those that want everything in the film to match it's comic counterpart. And those that don't mind that liberties are taken on costumes to make them more accessible to the general movie going public, as long as the characters are the same. Nolan, has given us characters that at their core match their comic book counterpart.

If you don't like what Nolan is offering don't worry, they will reboot it in five years. However, I think Arnofsky will take over. He is dying to direct a comic book movie, and I think he may have a deal in place to helm the next Batman (one of his favorites). I also think that is what led him to back out of Wolverine (I know he cited family issues, but this is just what I believe). I think Warners told him that the next post Batman movie will be his. I'm fairly certain it will have the same gritty, realistic tone as Nolan's. Like the old adage says, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Supes17 - 12/28/2011, 9:24 PM
They should just make it like Arkham City then
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:26 PM
I'm just grateful that Nolan is more interested in trying to make the best movie possible. He doesn't seem concerned with toy tie ins, video games (even though we did get one fore Batman Begins, and one was being developed for TDK, however it was rumored to be terrible). He just seems like a dude that loves to make movies, and isn't out to make a quick buck, and I respect that. I think Raimi was the same way, but Sony stepped in on the third one and forced him to do things he didn't want. Granted I hated Raimi's take on Spiderman the character but I enjoyed Spiderman 1 and 2.

Basically we are lucky right now. The Avengers has a directory that cares deeply about comics and is getting his shot to prove that he deserves to make big budget movies. The Batman franchise has a true film maker directing and writing. Someone that has a passion for cinema. Not all of his movies are great, but they are at least well done. As for Spiderman, they have someone who has a lot of potential, I'm just worried about Sony. Have they learned their lesson from Spierman 3, or will they repeat the same mistakes. I do however think that movie will be the sleeper hit of the summer.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:37 PM
Well dude, Horror movies don't draw in the same revenue as big budge comic book movies. Most comic book movie are summer tent pole films that are meant to appeal to a wide variety of people. Not, just the comic book enthusiast. I think studios learned their lesson from Watchmen. Don't get me wrong it was a great movie, but it was geared toward comic book fans and was a flop at the box office. It made a decent amount but was nowhere near where the studio wanted it.

Horror movies, generally don't have a huge budget. They are generally geared towards horror fans and it is rare that a horror movie breaks 100 million at the box office. Paranormal Activity and Saw movies not withstanding.

Remember a movie studio is still a business. It is one of the only ones where you can take 200 million and turn it into 1 billion within a years time. The more they spend on a movie, the more they will try to market it to everyone.
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:40 PM
That's the truth, and whether you want to believe it or not comic book fans probably make up 15% of the movie goers that check out a comic book movie. We don't make that much of a dent. They know we will show up regardless, the other 75% is where the money is at. Hence, why I said comic book movies aren't really made for comic book fans.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 12/28/2011, 9:42 PM
@RidiculousFanBoyDemands

First of all modern audiences would agree that batman fighting comics Bane would be a hella lot cooler than Sub-Zero, secondly I use the term "realistic" because every dumbass that backs up TDK says, "I like it cause it's realistic." I think it's funny cause if you like Nolan's version of a "Realistic" bats, you obviously don't like the comic it's "suppose" to be based on. Third, I agree that in the Comic Universe Bats belongs with Spidey, Hulk, and Supes (who I hate BTW), but I am appalled if you mean Cinematic Universe, I mean

This

the avengers Pictures, Images and Photos

and this

batman the dark knight rises Pictures, Images and Photos

Now comic book wise, yes they take place in the same universe, but otherwords, hell no, Nolan's take on Bats is a modern society setting, for god sakes TDKR will have themes based on the Occupy Wall Street crap going on, comics and CBM's are suppose to take us away from every day real life situations, a fact Nolan has either not realized or cares to give a shit about, but TDKR and every other DC movie as well as comic can tank, cause their whole industry is bland as techno music.

As the Great Ted Mosby said it on How I Met Your Mother, "You up for some super-loud repetitive music that hasn't changed since the mid-90's?"

RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 12/28/2011, 9:47 PM
I don't know dude, it's hard to sell a roided up dude wearing a luchadores mask. Plus, I think Nolan knows what he is doing, since his last movie, whether you like the term or not was a cultural phenomenon. Actually Nolan's movie was shot before the Occupy Wall Street movement got going, so if there are themes in TDKR it is purely coincidental. Plus, I don't mind it coming from Catwoman. That mentality makes sense for her.

Also man, you are comparing a TDKR spy pic to a really cool cinematic fan made poster of the Avengers. There is a little bias there. The pics from Empire made Bane look menacing. I am willing to bet nobody will complain about his look besides hard core comic book fans. Most people don't care. Give us a good compelling story, a bad guy we want to hate, and we will be fine. I don't need everything to match up perfectly to the comics.
