Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film will be the third installment in Nolan's Batman film series, and is a sequel to Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). The Dark Knight Rises is intended to be the conclusion of the series. It stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman. The film will take place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and will introduce the characters of Selina Kyle and Bane—portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, respectively—two villains from the Batman mythology.

The real reason Alfred didn't want Bruce to come back to Gotham was so he could live like a boss since he inherited all of Bruce's money.

In all seriousness the dialogue at the beginning of the trailer was awesome.

Yes Yes Yes... I just watched Momento again last night and Nolan is a hellova storyteller. This has the chance to be the best of the series and I cant wait. I honestly was looking forward to Avengers and TASM more at the beginning of the year but this is the Best story of the 3.

I really hope TDKR can beat the horrbile 3rd movie formula, I mean I liked Spider-Man 3 but X3 Last Stand..... Holy shit was it terrible after the genius that was X2, but I think Nolan can make another fantastic Batman film, but who cares if it can outgross the Avengers, lets just be happy we got the best superhero team movie and what could be the best solo superhero movie.

Did anybody notice that when he said, "I'm not afraid, I'm angry.", it sounded different? At first, I almost thought John Blake said it. I don't know, I could be wrong, but it sounded different to me

Best trailer yet. Actually has me excited for it and willing to completely put aside all nitpicking and pettiness until I actually see the movie sometime after it comes out in IMAX.

I especially like Gordon's line - it's a direct, a DIRECT reference to No Man's Land, where he essentially says the same thing when the Blue Boys find out Batman hasn't given up on Gotham.

That was an awesome trailer! It was perfect. I got chills from that.

At the 1:39 mark there is a quick shot of Bane as a kid in jail.

That Track In The Beginning Will Be In The Special Edition Of The Soundtrack. It Sounds Amazing Can't Wait To Hear It In IMAX With That Great Surround Sound Quality. It Truly Was A Journey From 2005 To 2012. Cheers To All The Bat And Comic Book Movie Fans. We Are In For A Treat July 20th!

Finally a truly awesome CBM summer. First Avengers, then The Amazing Spider-Man, and now The Dark Knight Rises to end it. Last year blew it with Green Lantern being a huge flop and Thor and Captain America only doing alright. This is surely an awesome CBM summer/year.
