Nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced tomorrow morning. The Avengers is considered to be a virtual lock-in for a nomination in the Best Visual Effects category but it will face some tough competition from films such as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Dark Knight Rises, Snow White & The Huntsman and possible others.

See Nolanites, here is the difference! The Avengers is campaigning for an award it ACTUALLY DESERVES! The desperation still sits in the hands of Nolan thinking his movie was good enough to be considered for best picture. HAHA Sorry bout your luck, but TDKR STILL deserves zero awards for anything at all.

You know what makes a movie desperate? When it campeigns for an Oscar. Seriously! That's something no films EVER do! ANY films that try to get an Oscar nomination is completely desperate!
(Get the picture?)

the hulk was impressive cgi in the avengers, but gollum in the hobbit was even more impressive, the hobbit should win best visual effects

I don't see Hollywood kickin' any oscars to the Avengers. I loved the movie myself, but come on people, the people who vote on these things are practically corpses kept alive by geritol and cocaine enemas. They're older then dirt. They might give Hobbit an oscar because they probably went to school with Tolkein. Avengers won at the box office. We're gonna have to be happy with that.

Lol @ those guys that kept pronouncing it Mark ROOfalo.
Kinda makes one wonder how the Hulk would've looked if they had kept Norton.

Lol, The Avengers have made "For Your Consideration" posters for Best Picture as well guys. Just because they're not posted on here, doesn't mean they're not floating through the homes of those in the Academy.... believe me.

Did the Avengers do one of those "For Your Consideration" deals? I realize that is part of the process, but it seems so desperate.
That said, the video was fantastic, and this is one Oscar that Avengers deservers (although so does Life of Pi...Hobbit not so much).

Most films do the for your consideration, especially so for films out around the Summer, so many Oscar Bait films come out in the 2 months leading, it's easy to forget a few when you go to vote. This was deserved though.
I think Life of Pi will have it though.

Looked kinda fake at sometimes. Big budget films shouldn't have that.
Besides that, if Avengers was shot on film, it would've looked A LOT better.

^^ fake? Well maybe that's because you don't see 4 meters tall green monsters wandering around that much, do you?
It was as real as it gets.
