Necrophobos - 1/9/2011, 11:30 AM
I can't picture anybody else as Norman besides William Dafoe. Maybe he could play Venom's dad?
MovieTheaterLad - 1/9/2011, 11:46 AM
He looks so much like Reed Richards, it's frightening.
Betty - 1/9/2011, 12:11 PM

Tony13175 - 1/9/2011, 12:11 PM
The kid from the Outsiders? Doesn't he do those Asylum movies now? Either Norman or maybe JJ.
Jables - 1/9/2011, 12:12 PM
I can see him as Norman Osborn. lets get the ball rolling with the "death of gwen stacy" story already!
PaulRom - 1/9/2011, 12:13 PM
I agree...he looks like he could play Norman Osborn well.
AlexDeLarge87 - 1/9/2011, 12:15 PM
I smell Norman Osborn too. But i would prefer Bryan Cranston as Ozzy. Howell would be cool Dr. Conners too or the burglar who kills uncle ben or maybe even J. Jonah Jameson.
LEEE777 - 1/9/2011, 12:15 PM

asavagevandal - 1/9/2011, 12:34 PM
slap a goatee on him and it's KRAVEN :)
Ranger14 - 1/9/2011, 12:36 PM
Wow...he has certainly aged beyond his years. Not sure how he would fit in, but it must not be too big of a part, considering what little he has done of significance in years.
RorMachine - 1/9/2011, 12:36 PM
Great find Devil. Howell was great in The Hitcher. That's pretty much all I've seen him in but nice that he's making a comeback.
BillyBlack - 1/9/2011, 12:39 PM
Stay gold pony boy!

30 comments? I'm actually shocked it took this long.
JonathaNisMagnuM - 1/9/2011, 12:41 PM
Damn BillyBlack, you beat me to it!

Stay Gold ROTFL
Roland - 1/9/2011, 12:47 PM
Slap a mustache on the guy and put him behind a desk as J. Jonah Jameson?
CBMDeadpool - 1/9/2011, 12:59 PM
He would be a good Norman Osbourne
Misterfan - 1/9/2011, 1:07 PM

TheThing - 1/9/2011, 1:08 PM
How about Dr.Curtis Conners.
ViperXX79 - 1/9/2011, 1:09 PM
He was such a badass in Red Dawn.
Roland - 1/9/2011, 1:27 PM
@misterfan- I think he would look just like JJJ!
UnfriendlySpidey - 1/9/2011, 1:31 PM
he was great as the Reaper in Criminal Minds...wonder who he'll play.. nice find Devil!
SFCamerica - 1/9/2011, 1:33 PM
It doesn't matter who all joins this crap! Andrew Garfield is the worst thing to CBM's since Brett Ratner! Mark my words, this movie will be mediocre at best and won't nearly live up to the standard set by the first 2 Spiderman films.
pollix22 - 1/9/2011, 1:35 PM
He's not a good actor, and also a jerk in real life. Oh well.
TheThing - 1/9/2011, 1:42 PM
@SF I kind of agree, I think Garfied is a pussy. This movie will probably tank.
tazmaniak - 1/9/2011, 1:43 PM
@BIGBMH, Campbell Scott is Richard Parker and Julianne Nicholson is Mary Parker.
AlexDeLarge87 - 1/9/2011, 1:47 PM
Howell was great in Criminal Minds too!
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 1/9/2011, 2:11 PM
WOW, it's been awhile since his days as Pony Boy in the outsiders and E.T. huh?! lol
The Outsiders - 999
Stay Golden Pony Boy lol!

thedill - 1/9/2011, 2:11 PM
I can almost guarantee that his role will be very minor. Probably some cop who works under Capt. Stacy and has one scene, or something like that. It kind of reminds me of when Bonnie Somerville was cast in Spider-Man 2. Everyone was sure she was going to play Gwen Stacy, but in actuality, she played a woman in an office building that screams.
marvel72 - 1/9/2011, 2:21 PM
he could be norman osborn, but i would rather they cast someone better.
Comedian03 - 1/9/2011, 2:28 PM
Billyjack you beat me to it too, the only reason I was reading the comments was to see if anyone said that yet lol
thedill - 1/9/2011, 2:32 PM
@SuperCalico
I wouldn't call a production deal with The Asylum "clout." Sure, C. Thomas Howell worked on some good stuff decades ago. I guess a better example would be Anthony Michael Hall in "The Dark Knight." When they announced his casting, I remember a lot of people were talking about how he was going to play the Riddler or some other major character from the comics, and in reality he played a TV host in a of couple scenes.
vermillion - 1/9/2011, 2:41 PM
First thing I thought when I saw his picture was Norman Osbourne.
thedill - 1/9/2011, 2:49 PM
@SuperCalico

The Asylum is the production company behind such masterpieces as "Snakes on a Train," "Transmorphers," "AVH: Alien vs. Hunter," and "The Day the Earth Stopped." The company exclusively produces titles plagiarizing and capitalizing on productions by major studios. C. Thomas Howell has starred and directed several of their shitty movies. It was meant as a completely just insult towards his work, but you obviously missed that. You're completely missing my point. And I'm also starting to think you're a charter member of the C. Thomas Howell Fan Club.
Xandera - 1/9/2011, 2:53 PM
Norman Osborn...
longbowhunter - 1/9/2011, 2:58 PM
Lets hope he doesnt wear black face again and try to play Robbie.
thedill - 1/9/2011, 3:15 PM
@SuperCalico
Do you know what C. Thomas Howell character in "American Pie: The Book of Love" is credited as? Alumnus Guy #2. Does that really sound like the type of role an actor would play right before playing a major character in a major Hollywood movie? Of course not. The last major movie C. Thomas Howell was a part of was "Hidalgo" and he's barely in it. Blink and you miss him.

My point is that people are far too quick to assume that any actor signing up for a comic book movie automatically must be playing a major character from the comics. People thought Bonnie Somerville was going to play Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 2, but she actually played Screaming Woman. People thought Anthony Michael Hall was going to play the Ridder or Man-Bat in The Dark Knight, but he actually played Mike Engel. People thought Olivia Munn was going to play Iron Maiden or Wasp in Iron Man 2, but she actually played Chess Roberts, a reporter. Also in Iron Man 2, people thought Kate Mara was going to play Bethany Cabe, but she actually played some random U.S. Marshall. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Ranger14 - 1/9/2011, 3:27 PM
SuperCalico@ His role in the Commander & Chief is what you refer to as something significant? Umm...okay. He played a lead role in a crappy movie that hardly anyone watched. Hardly what I call significant, but to each their own.

Jamison was my first thought when I saw his older, weathered face in the image. I think that would be giving him too much of a role even, but who knows. I would be shocked if they were to give him a role like Norman Osborn. His track record of late doesn't show he has the acting chops to pull off that character.
BIGBMH - 1/9/2011, 3:28 PM
@Exiles, Ok. Well scratch that idea.
thedill - 1/9/2011, 3:42 PM
I have no common sense? He guest-starred in a few episodes of a procedural TV series a few years ago. That's not that significant. C. Thomas Howell is a has-been, plain and simple. If you can't see that, that's your problem, not mine.
skullboy - 1/9/2011, 3:51 PM
OMG! Mr. Soul Man now starring in made for Syfy flicks is gonna be in the Spider-Man reboot? If they cast him as Norman Osborn or Jonah Jameson, I'm gonna just laugh.
thedill - 1/9/2011, 4:10 PM
@SuperCalico
It's totally fine if you're a fan of C. Thomas Howell, but you cannot dispute that his work of late is sub-par, and that's me putting it nicely. You also cannot dispute my point that people, much like you, are too quick to jump to conclusions when it comes to the casting of comic book movies. A point that you have actually yet to address.

Isn't it more likely, based on his current career trajectory, that he's playing a very minor role as opposed to one of the most famous villains in comic book history?
