I have to say, the thing I really like about this series is the conversations between the team. The characters are really interesting in the comics, and it can be tough to nail the first few interactions between them because of all they go through. Very few scenes in the 2005 movie captured the spirit of the team.

I have to agree. The interactions between the team is interesting. Also, I liked what you're doing with Ben. Glad to see that he is getting more character development.

Anyways...Keep It Up, Doom!

Great interaction I love how you take the focus from Reed,Susan and Johny to Ben and the other way around and not losing a point of interest.Have a pint of beer Doom you deserve it with each one 717 chapter

Just caught up with the last few parts and boy am I glad I did. I am getting the occasional flashback to the movies but overall it's been a great story so far. Wasn't expecting Mole Man to feature but the last chapter introducing him was very good

meh, still am not feeling it

tired origin cliches without any forward momentum, characters who are oblivious to every villain subplot broiling underneath them, minor obscure characters are constantly introduced without any connectivity. if any comic book proves that "origins are not sacred" it's Fantastic Four. but your version of the story isn't nearly distinctive enough to be considered an alternate reality, it's 616 fan-fiction that crams in as much holy canon and rarely deviates from it. this could be great as a period piece, or a What If? scenario, to arbitrarily casting your favorite actor as the Human Torch, there's so much to work with.

(Earth-1610) is to me the best version of the FF story, as in it opens up the most storytelling possibilities, because in Ultimate comics a teleporter accident scatters them across the desert. by splitting them apart a whole chapter could be devoted to each of the four waking up in different environments and discovering their own powers. instead of jumbled group conversations mucking up the barely visible plot, linear narratives and internal monologues can introduce them as individuals and not rely so heavily on the familiar old banter. I'm not sure why nobody's ever tried writing based on the Ultimate universe before, its so universally hated, but raelly there's no better example of how to write fan-fic.

what's even more loathed is those awful Fantastic Four films, but that's exactly what I'm reminded of when I read this chapter. for example: Ben & Alicia don't know each other at all, then Alicia Masters throws herself at a complete stranger for no reason whatsoever, a combination of the Roger Cormann and Tim Story romance scenes without any real character motivations. maybe if their relationship began before the accident they'd remain in love despite his condition, that would succeed where the movies failed. he has another love interest on the international space station but that's never gonna happen... it's ashame The Thing is written so well but his tragic nature is ruined soon as he steps onto the street and instead of getting beer bottles thrown at his head by the Yancy Street Gang, he bumps into his soul-mate and stutters more than your beloved Andrew Garfield.

anyway, whatever you're laying the foundation for keep it up! I just want it to pay off in the end, I normally hate reading prose novels but for this I made an exception.

@Tucks

While of course I appreciate the amount of detail you go into in your comment, I can't help but think that you're more criticizing what you want my fanfiction to be, rather than what it is. Regardless, I love that you are willing to write such in-depth comments for my work; it's both humbling and a huge compliment to me.

I wanted to respond to you however, because I find it hilarious that you mentioned the beer bottle Yancy Street thing, because that was already going to happen next chapter anyway. Look forward to it ;)
