There has been rumours about Nathan playing Nova and even Cosmo. Well the director himself James Gunn spoke to the Nerdist.com to clear up the rumours once and for all saying, “Nathan Fillion is not Nova". He added, “There’s so much bullshit on the internet. I woke up – first it’s ‘Nathan’s Nova!’, then there are articles all over saying Nathan’s Cosmo. It’s like, ‘What?!’ Nathan’s role is a very small cameo that I wanted to give to Nathan because I love working with him and I think it’s lucky for me to have Nathan in all of my movies. At the same time I wanted to give him something where Nathan could have a larger role in the Marvel Universe if either Joss [Whedon] or I or whoever chose to do that in the future. Which I would love to do. This is very interesting that he mentions Joss Whedon. Could Nathan have a larger riole in Avengers 3 since this movie mostly sets up that film?
Gunn continued, "I would love to give Nathan something he could really chew on, but it didn’t work out on this movie for two reasons. Number one — because he was shooting Castle. And number two, because it just wasn’t the right exact role for him.” What role could James Gunn be possibly talking about here? Nathan's role here could be pivotal in later movies going by what James said. He seems to imply that Nathan couldn't take a larger role due to scheduling conflict and the role wasn't right for him or better yet, it didn't fit into the story he was trying to tell. And lastly, the director confirmed that there's won't be Nova in the film, "You won’t see the Nova character in the film. You’ll see the Nova Corps.” What do you guys think about this? Are you dissapointed that Nova won't appear in the film at all? leave your thoughts in the usual place.
