Will Marvel's Phase 4 Lead With A New AVENGERS Movie?

According to Unleash the Fanboy, Marvel's Phase 4 will lead with a 'New Avengers' movie. They got the info from Disney source of theirs and here's what she had to say, “It’s so incredibly early in the process, but unless Robert [Downey Jr.] makes an insane deal with these guys, they’re going with New Avengers.” Now the interesting part is RDJ only signed for Avengers 2 & 3 and it's highly unlikely he'll return for Iron Man 4 or the New Avengers film if that's true.

The site asked their source whether New Avengers referred to the comic arc or simply that there will be new people who happen to comprise The Avengers and she said, "Well, you’ve heard the recent casting announcements. They’ve got a ton of great guys. Paul Rudd. Michael Douglas. Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Whoever they choose for Doctor Strange and the other new guys in Phase 3. They’ve got a lot of great guys to lead the new phase of the team. But that’s all I say. It’s really early." Well Wolverine and Spidey won't be joining any time soon if they're going the New Avengers route. So far Doctor Strange and Ant-Man are confirmed for Phase 3. Those two will certainly be joining the New Avengers beyond Phase 3. With Pietro and Wanda joining the team, we will see them join the New Avengers? I guess time will tell.

At this point the MCU could go anywhere. The Guardians of the galaxy are being introduced to bring in the cosmic side of the MCU which is probably going to lead into bigger things. Now the question remains whether we'll see the King of Wakanda and the rumoured Inhumans movie which I suppose will be Marvel's version of the X-men. Will organisations such as S.W.O.R.D make an appearence too? I can't to wait to see where the MCU will be in the next 5 years. What do you guys think about Marvel's presumed Phase 4 plans? Do you think it's the right direction? Leave your thoughts down below.

*Cue the madness*
Dinotron - 1/29/2014, 7:31 AM
Oh man that would be awesome!

In the MCU the New Avengers could rise up because possibly the orignal Avengers disbanded and "retire" after AoU giving rise to new heroes.

Save Avengers 3 for a finale to the MCU with the original Avengers, who would all be seasoned hero veterans, reunited with new additions.
DynamicDynamo - 1/29/2014, 7:33 AM
This isn't unexpected.
Dinotron - 1/29/2014, 7:34 AM
If I were them I wouldnt debut another Avengers movie in Phase 3, I would savor it and wait and make that a finale to their Universe
DefcoN - 1/29/2014, 7:38 AM
I've always preferred a reboot after Phase 3 is complete, but the idea of a New Avengers follow up is growing on me.
marvelstudios - 1/29/2014, 7:38 AM
I hope MCU goes on for decades and ends with an awesome finale.
marvelstudios - 1/29/2014, 7:39 AM
And please start making 3 movies a year. I hate the wait in between every MCU movie.
marvel72 - 1/29/2014, 7:40 AM
intresting, would people be interested in seeing an avengers movie with ant-man,dr.strange,quicksilver & scarlet witch.

maybe add luke cage,black panther,iron fist,ms.marvel & so on.
TheBaroness89 - 1/29/2014, 7:40 AM
news? I assume that was always the case that phase Avengers would be Quicksilver Scarlet Witch Black Panther Ant Man Dr Strange and hopefully VISION and MS MARVEL
charlie2094 - 1/29/2014, 7:44 AM
Definitely thought this is what they would do, a way to go in a slightly new direction without rebooting which would ruin all the build up/require new origins and such, which no one should want...

Interestein - 1/29/2014, 7:46 AM
I like it, bring in Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil too.
MrCBM56 - 1/29/2014, 7:47 AM
Michael Douglas on The New Avengers? LMAO if it's suppose to be in phase 4, he'll be like 80.

And Doc. Strange shouldn't be on any Avengers except Secret Avengers and Illuminati.
TelaVizion - 1/29/2014, 7:47 AM
They need to. Unlike DC, They have control over most of their characters. Marvel doesn't need to focus on the now "big 3". After Avengers 3, focus should be on new characters.

And Phase 4 should be an Inhumanity phase. There should be Inhumans all over that sh*t
MercwithMouth - 1/29/2014, 7:48 AM
I'm down.

They haven't steered us wrong yet. Just make sure that Black Panther and Vision make it in somewhere. And don't lose Hulk!
MercwithMouth - 1/29/2014, 7:50 AM

What does that mean? DC has control over every DC character.
cdpacheco89 - 1/29/2014, 7:52 AM
One movie couldn't make an ending it would have to he like year long ending event 3 or 4 movies in one year to close it all up. That would be revolutionary and badass! I would see everyob like 3 times
DrDoom - 1/29/2014, 7:52 AM
I doubt anyone really knows anything legitimate about Phase Four.

Just don't reboot, Marvel. Keep it going strong.
McNyagano - 1/29/2014, 7:54 AM

They've planned all the way up to 2021. I'm sure they have a temporary blue print of Phase 4.
Dinotron - 1/29/2014, 7:54 AM
i dont think they should reboot at all, continue their series for as long as they like. They will go down in history for what they have done with their films if they did

and WHEN they end it, bring back the original cast in it
marvel72 - 1/29/2014, 8:02 AM
@ McNyagano

cool find mate, the more i think about it the better it sounds.

but will it be as good without the likes of strong avenger characters such as iron man, captain america, thor & the hulk.
ItsATrap - 1/29/2014, 8:03 AM
i can see them going with a relatively new team by the time phase 4 rolls around. ant-man, scarlet witch and quicksilver, black panther, doc strange, maybe an inhuman or two. should be interesting. i'm on board
McNyagano - 1/29/2014, 8:05 AM

It has the potential to be better depending on who's writing and directing. I think Whedon will be done after Phase 3.
AstonishingArachnid - 1/29/2014, 8:07 AM
Didn't the Avengers disease after they defeated Joyfully leaving only Cap, Hawkeye, SW and QS? Maybe they can change it up by having a completely new team fill the void.
TheMexicanSuperman - 1/29/2014, 8:08 AM
I hope Marvel Studios makes movie that are not attached to the Avengers.
cipher - 1/29/2014, 8:08 AM

Good find.
ATrueHero1987 - 1/29/2014, 8:08 AM
What I would like to happen at the end of phase 4, is The Avengers face off against the Masters Of Earth.

SN: New Avengers Omnibus has gotten cheaper at Amazon.
HulkbusterNYC - 1/29/2014, 8:09 AM
I like the idea but I feel every Avengers movie should have at least one of the big 3 (IM, Cap, Thor) even if it's just a supporting role similar to Nick Fury's role in Avengers1. Those 3 are the Avengers in my opinion.
MrCameron - 1/29/2014, 8:09 AM
@ McNyagano

Interesting find man.

Gotta say, this sounds like a cool prospect and makes a lot of sense.

I'm thinking that they're using some of the lesser know characters in Phase 2/3 and the Netflix shows as testing ground this movie, where they use them to form another Avengers team or something to deal with the increased amount of threats to this universe.

If the audiences respond well to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Luke Cage, they'd maybe form the roster for this new team.

All in all, this is just really freakin cool and makes me so excited for Phase 3 and beyond.
McNyagano - 1/29/2014, 8:09 AM

Thanks bro;)
batz11 - 1/29/2014, 8:11 AM
Yeah, not surprising news...hope they keep Ruffalo and the Hulk at least...
Nubase - 1/29/2014, 8:13 AM
DrDoom - 1/29/2014, 8:15 AM
I really hope the original cast gets to fight Kang, considering, you know, he's their archenemy.
McNyagano - 1/29/2014, 8:21 AM
Wait, I thought Ultron was their archenemy?
TheWolverine08 - 1/29/2014, 8:26 AM
Use Jonathan Hickman's lineup.
JJJameson - 1/29/2014, 8:26 AM
Hmm. This is pretty interesting.

I love RDJ, but I understand that someday he'll have to go. And Iron Man will have to keep going, so the best way would be to have a New Avengers phase, and then have Iron Man triumphantly back after he is successfully recast.

I believe that besides RDJ, all the rest of the cast would return, but I'd like to see in the New Avengers:

Dr. Strange
Luke Cage
Black Panther

And if it's possible, Spider-Man.
revloveR - 1/29/2014, 8:27 AM
sounds like someone pulling stuff out of their butt.
JoJo1982 - 1/29/2014, 8:29 AM
Sounds great to me

Curious on who's directing it
TheFirstAvenger97 - 1/29/2014, 8:29 AM
Panther, Cage, Ms Marvel or GTFO.
rabid - 1/29/2014, 8:30 AM
We don't need Stark for the entire story. Let Rhodey play Iron Man for a while.
MsDarkPhoenix - 1/29/2014, 8:32 AM
I think it depends on the audience: if they like the new characters, then they could make movies without RDJ. But if you ask me, I think it's better to kill Tony in A3 (if he sings for more movies, he will probably ask for 5 billion, a house in Tahiti, a flying car and a real Iron Man suit) and go on with the rest of the Avengers, as long as they ask for reasonable money.

After all, not even the fans would like a movie without Hulk, Thor, Cap, imagine the general audience!
