Remember Vin's status that he post on facebook last year?, “Marvel has requested a meeting … no idea what for … haha, you probably know better than me.” Well it turns out that Vin made it all up according to Bleeding Cool. Here's what the site had to say on the matter..

"There was much commotion, the post was taken down and people wondered what was going on. He then posted about a follow up meeting.

The truth? Vin Diesel had made it up. That’s according to this Marvel Comics exec. They told me that Marvel had not requested an initial meeting, Vin Diesel was just playing around with social media and may not have realised the geekstorm that his words may have caused. And the voice of Groot had not been cast.

However Marvel noticed the geekstorm. Had a few words. And had a meeting. Found him Groot. And the rest is history"

Pretty cool huh? What do you guys think? Vin Diesel will voice and provide motion capture for Groot in Marvel's upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy

Now that's good self-marketing. Vin is such a cool guy; was very grateful for all the success he had when he talked at the Riddick panel at SDCC last year.
TopCat89 - 2/19/2014, 2:42 PM
Hahahaha I hope this is true

Cles - 2/19/2014, 2:45 PM
It makes sense, seeing as there was no confirmation of his involvement for nearly six months.

Total Vin Move.
DelTorite - 2/19/2014, 4:07 PM
Is The Rock mimicking Vin's move? We shall see soon.
Ramiel - 2/19/2014, 4:09 PM
I'm not much of a Vin fan, but he's going to kill it as Groot.
AC1 - 2/19/2014, 4:21 PM
I like Vin, although I dislike most of the stuff he's been in. Did like The Iron Giant though, and his work was brilliant in that. I'm hoping (and guessing) he'll be just as good as Groot.
AlexanderLykins - 2/19/2014, 4:34 PM
Marvel is watching!

Reading this gives me hope.

By using Vin's method, I can now pursue my lifelong dream of playing Cypher, and totally mind-f*ck myself.

cipher - 2/19/2014, 4:41 PM
I now have a purpose in life.
cipher - 2/19/2014, 4:43 PM
This almost makes me regret ridding myself of Facebook.

Nomis - 2/19/2014, 4:51 PM
Cypher as Cypher in Cypher:the Life!
Bekss - 2/19/2014, 5:12 PM
Really? You're gonna believe this crap?
Some guy from Marvel told us Pure BS
Marvel wouldn't hire anybody just because he wrote something in Facebook. They have Bradley Cooper (a very very good actor) as the voice of Rocket Racoon, because they know the voice is very important. They have the best casting in every movie.
This is BS
SuperCat - 2/19/2014, 5:18 PM
If this is true, well played Vin.
CherryBomb - 2/19/2014, 5:50 PM

This happens all the time. More than you know.
Publicists get actors names out there, test the waters to see what the fans will think and then the studios may bring them in for a screen test.
duncboy - 2/19/2014, 6:18 PM
Christopher Nolan: I need a built, bald, arrogant white guy to play Bane.
Vin Diesel never crosses his mind - there's probably a reason why, and it's probably the same reason that Vinny here was cast to say a total of 3 words over and over again for Marvel.
Webhead804 - 2/19/2014, 6:23 PM
At least as Groot, he won't be set up as the main villain only to get pushed to the sidelines as a hired muscle halfway through only to die a halfassed death.
jrp6048 - 2/19/2014, 8:06 PM
I wonder if this is true then maybe I can be Carol Danvers?
TheRealistStarLord - 2/19/2014, 8:13 PM
Well played, Vin *claps claps*.
Webhead804 - 2/19/2014, 9:26 PM
It depends, are you a smoking hot blonde babe?
BaneSmash - 2/19/2014, 9:37 PM
I hope it's not true! Dude out of work if it ain't FF or Redick movies...............
mgeoff88 - 2/19/2014, 10:00 PM
Vin Diesel is a very smart guy.

I'm happy it worked, because he is a great choice for Groot.
MsDarkPhoenix - 2/20/2014, 3:50 AM
Damn, if I knew that earlier, I would be able to play Scarlet Witch in AoU! Or Wonder Woman!!

Do you think Elektra will be in the Daredevil Netflix series?? I was born to play Elektra! Seriously, I'm the perfect casting choice!! Where do I sign?
