The show first ran from 1963 to 1989, now with a successful revival the show returned to Saturday night UK schedules in 2005. The show's current head writer, Steven Moffat, has promised "tremendous surprises" for the golden 50th anniversary next year, but says he will be keeping them under wraps.

Andrew Hammond of the Royal Mail said the commemorative selection "pay tribute to the brilliant actors that have played the Doctor over the years, as well as the adversaries that helped make the show so popular".

The Royal Mail stamps will be available in March.

The time travelling adventurer is currently played by Matt Smith and joining him for the 50th anniversary year is new co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman, playing Clara who will be the Doctor's new companion in the 2013 series.

The second half of series 7 will air sometime in early 2013 on BBC One (UK) and BBC America (USA).

Hey SuperDude001 your article is nice.

Check up my FAN CAST: The Avengers by 789.

And I still remember your fan cast for Deadpool which you haven't made.

Well I thought as Doctor Who is rarely seen on this site I might actually contribute some cool news for once rather than just fan fic.

LEEE777 @ Good to see you back dude!

789 @ Checked out your cast, nice, I'm on my phone right now so I can't comment properly on it but I'll try asap.
The Deadpool cast, well I said it wouldn't be around for a long while anyhow, but it's more cause when I do normal casts people complain I'm not doing usercasts but when I do usercasts people complain I'm not doing fancasts. So basically people need to make up their minds about what they want.
