Shia NOT Starring in Indy Sequels

A while back Lucas said Shia LaBeouf, a.k.a. Mutt Williams would star in future Indiana Jones sequels, but in an interview with MTV recently George decided it was a bad idea to spin off of Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford in the lead.
Thank god he came to his senses!

As for a Indy 5,6 and 20? We'll see if Ford can still pull them off. 4 was not the best of the franchise, but still good in my book.

What do you guys think about spinoffs and sequels to indy?

i enjoyed 4 for what it was but it wasnt that good! maybe if they removed the ridiculous "nuking of the fridge..cartoon gophers..swinging through the trees like [frick]ing tarzan" bullshit that lucas and spielberg just can not help polluting otherwise decent movies with..then ill go see em
Rorschach01 - 2/5/2009, 2:30 PM
never said it was perfect. and i agree the fridge........ and that swinging with monkeys scene belongs in a mummy movie
grif - 2/5/2009, 2:33 PM
OK. 4 was "meh" in my opinion. 1 - 3, freakin' awesome. But after a while, you have to let certain franchises just end where they do. Otherwise we get things like Batman and Robin, Friday the 13th 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Nightmare on Elm St 4 - 8 or 9 whatever. You get my point though. There comes a time when you have to let it go. Although I know neither of these guys lets things go very easily and they want to keep raking in the money from a franchise they KNOW will do well at the BO regardless, but seriously. The South Park episode said it best "RAPE!"

NO. NO SHIA LABOEUF SPIN OFF! NO! NO [frick] NO! NO [frick] NO! seriously, I really don't hate the guy, he hasn't done anything BAD per se in his movies...At least not bad enough for me to dislike him totally...But The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones is bad enough...We don't need or want a spin off series. Unless of course it was Prequel-like with Indy's dad SEAN CONNERY! BOO YA! but really, that's a joke...
IonParallax - 2/5/2009, 2:50 PM
WOW are u being serious?! U want them to make more? talk about dropping the ball on the last one. Freaking aliens? That was probably the worst movie to come out that year and probably will be for quite a while. if they make another one that is like 4 then i swear i will kill somebody
HUSoldier - 2/5/2009, 4:23 PM
Awwwww... poor little 'The Beef' - no little franchise to call his own. Where in the world is he going to get his liquor money now? I guess there's always 'Transformers' (provided that he doesn't screw that up...).

Ion - I wouldn't even give 4 a 'meh' (2 was a 'meh', but that's a different thread etirely...). Lucas and Spielberg shouldn't have gotten greedy and ended it at 'Last Crusade' - in fact, I'm going o imagine that this last film was never made! How perfect was it to see Dr. Jones Sr. and Dr. Jones Jr. riding off into the sunset (with Sallah in tow and Brody dragging his happy @ss in the rear)! "...and they lived happily ever after - THE END!"

'nuff said.
loganoneil - 2/5/2009, 5:07 PM
Agreed Logan, THE END.
IonParallax - 2/5/2009, 5:17 PM
K this site kinda talks about sci-fi movies and even some video game based movies but i dont know why u would make a article talking about Indiana Jones on COMICBOOK UNDERLINE UNDERLINE movie .com cause its not a comic k and 4 pushed it to far how bout they come up with new ideas.

K See Ya, The ShakeBake

Jus forget 4. I saw the movie and all my dear childhood memory's of Indiana Jones just died. [frick]ing Aliens! What the hell. And the stupid thing is, the Crystal Skulls were all man made, so there is nothing historical about them, oké, their old but what else.

Lucas didn't want to do a fourth movie without a GREAT script. Wel that worked out well for ya Georgy!
And was it just me or was the tempo of the movie realy high. You just jumped from one scene to the other. Even the title made me think of a stripper called Crystal who's skull had gone missing (anyone seen zombie strippers :P). Why not just send Indy to the lost city of Atlantis, even that would have been more believable and a lot more enjoyable to watch.

I have to say i actually did like the Young Indi series. And i could watch more Indy movies, but not with Mutt in the lead. I like the idear of a young Henry Jones Sr. questing for the grale (but not finding it offcourse) Show us another side of the character.
But it probably aint happening, so i'll just go with Logan and watch them riding of into the sunset :D.
Spilox - 2/5/2009, 10:27 PM
...although... there's always been something there that's been bugging me about 'Last Crusade' that maybe you guys could help me out with - BOTH Indy and Dr. Jones Sr. drank from the Cup of Christ (right?), so TECHNICALLY... doesn't that make them both immortal (not that this has any major effect on the series - especially after that last bomb!)? It's the little things in life that make you go "hmmmmm...."
loganoneil - 2/5/2009, 10:47 PM
the shake bake. it does have comics. that is why it had news for indy 4 on this site last year.

loganoneil. they drank from the cup sure. but was it not somthing like if you leave the temple area it does not work anymore or somthing?
grif - 2/6/2009, 5:23 AM
You had to drink from the cup every .... years for the effect of the grale to uphold.
Spilox - 2/6/2009, 5:59 AM
well i didnt think it was completly terrible but last crusade is definitly a better way to end a franchise then any future indy movies. but thank god shia la-whats-his-name isn't gonna be in the lead, indiana jones is about ford and would be wrecked without him.

oh and also Spilox i've seen that zombie strippers movie lol i could not stop laughing during it :P
Boekelaar - 2/6/2009, 6:17 AM
yes the last crusade had a great ending and if it all stopped there i would have been fine with it. also cbm edited my article for example the headline says not in indy sequels. i never said that. i said spinoffs.
grif - 2/6/2009, 7:50 AM
Grif - are you sure? I've watched that movie over and over again, and I can't find a reference to the 'having to drink from the cup every couple of years' bit - is that implied, and if so where/how? I'm sure you'll all understand, this is just the geek in me wanting any loose ends tied up...
loganoneil - 2/6/2009, 8:43 AM
Actually i said that logan :P. But you're right I can't remember they said that eather, but it seemed logical at the time :P
Spilox - 2/6/2009, 9:05 AM
Oops, sorry Spilox - my bad.
loganoneil - 2/6/2009, 9:25 AM
i think it was somthing like you had to drink from it once in a while or somthing. and you could not take the cup past the seal in the entrance. if you try you will not make it out. but hey it healed his dads wounds so it was all good.
grif - 2/6/2009, 9:54 AM
The "...past the seal" part I remember. Too bad Sir Sean had to retire, maybe he could have salvaged "Crystal Skull"... or MAYBE he read the script and DECIDED to 'retire' so as to not cause any problems...
loganoneil - 2/6/2009, 10:09 AM
sean was in it to a extent. he was mentioned and his picture was shown. he must have been payed for it cause that is his likeness
grif - 2/6/2009, 11:22 AM
I heard that Lucas had originally written a part in for Sir Sean in 'Crystal Skull' and that when he 'retired' George had to do a complete re-write. Does anyone know if that's true or not?
loganoneil - 2/6/2009, 1:19 PM
The first Indy films are classics and i love em when i saw em more than a decade ago and i still love em when i watched em 2 months ago.

The 4th film was basically milking a successful franchise and i hope they wont make any more Indy films coz it will juz tarnish the name of this classic.

As for Shia, despite the hatred of the majority, i enjoy this actor and all his films but i have to say Indy 4 was lousy and he was wrong for the role.
JamesH - 2/12/2009, 6:35 PM
Indy 4 was "ok". 'nough said. The nuke fridge ride. The tarzan swinging. weird alien conspiracy. super killer army ants that hunt you down in swarms. The list of "movie magic moments" goes on. There was nothing so outlandish in the previous Indy flics. A spin off would destroy it. Shia is a good actor. I enjoy him, but this wasn't needed in Indy. Would be great to see a few more Indy movies though.
CyborgNinja - 2/16/2009, 3:02 PM
I love Indiana Jones, but the 4th installment was not really the Indiana Jones I once knew. George Lucas went too far this time. I hope the next films can bring us back to the old Indy films. No more Mutt Williams please.
