He had a cameo in X2? It's hilarious how [frick]ed up their continuity is xD.

Well, sure, in X-2 he's normal looking and in X-3 he's a big blue sasquatch played by Kelsey Grammer and now he's going to be blue in First Class.

Fox can't say c-c-c-c-cont-c-ontin... uh, that word that they can't comprehend the meaning of because it's a movie and they can do whatever they like.

Each movie is its own standalone thing that has nothing to do with anything else in the entire freaking multiverse.

F--k Fox.
P862010 - 11/10/2010, 10:44 PM
@juggy LOL WHAT we get confirmation of blue beast and this worries you lol

fanboys are ridiculous
Curmudgeon - 11/10/2010, 10:49 PM
Isn't the Beast cameo in X2 already undone by the fact that Beast in X-Men 3 is much much older, looks nothing like the other guy, and seems to have been blue for a long time?

Really now, you can't blame First Class for that one!
vonstallin - 11/10/2010, 11:04 PM
it dont matter about his cameo on X2.
He was speaking in public and in the comics he well known to use a holo device to make him look human and no fur.

So they can go any route they want in 1st class.

MrMurdockk - 11/10/2010, 11:09 PM
There we go, another continuity [frick] up.

Damn you FOX, Damn You!!!!!!!

I find it funny that people seem to think that they can just guess that it'll not follow continuity based on absolutely nothing.

Also, lots of people seem to forget that Hank has taken medications and/or used holographic devices (much like Nightcrawler) to suppress and hide his Beast form, most notably on X-Men: Evolution, sort of like a reverse Jeckyll and Hyde dynamic. There is absolutely no reason why they can't do this in the movies. And don't forget that Singer directed X2 and not X3 in which Beast appears, but is now directing this. There's no reason to believe that he or the writers won't tie it together after deliberately putting that cameo into the movie.

MovieTheaterLad - 11/10/2010, 11:49 PM
@Anil

What's wrong with Havok in First Class? He's an awesome character who deserves recognition. Also, saying that they don't respect their lore is ridiculous. Did you read Ultimatum? Also known as "The Event Where Pretty Much Every X-Man, Except For a Teensy Handful, All Either Die Off-Panel or in a Ridiculous and Undignified Manner?" Let's face it, they treat the characters in the movies alot better than they do in the comics.

You seem to be under the impression that people are only allowed to like what YOU like in order to be considered "true" fans. If they're good enough for Stan Lee, I don't see why they shouldn't be good enough for the so-called "true believers".
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 11/11/2010, 12:31 AM
Just when you think FOX can't screw up any more they go and pull one out the bag! Well done guys! Why not just take a huge leak over the source material and throw your own movies continuity onto the piss-heap too!
Orehrepus - 11/11/2010, 12:53 AM
Meh much?
JoshWilding - 11/11/2010, 1:26 AM
Yet another thread where MTL is lecturing people about a movie where his knowledge of the characters is based almost entirely off everything other than the comic books. I've said it God knows how many times, but I'll say it again. People want to see these movies based off of the 40+ years of history they have in the 616 universe...the majority do not want to see studios like Fox just do whatever the hell they want with them until they're barely recognisable. (Doctor Doom and Galactus being the most obvious examples) You can compare the films to alternate universes and animated series' all you like, but this is different because it may be the only chance we get to see them in live action. And everything I've heard about X-Men: First Class is just wrong.
Checkmate - 11/11/2010, 1:47 AM
This movie's so messed up, yet it'll make millions from the general public that just want to see a superhero movie. I know I won't be watching Fox mess up my childhood heroes.
MovieTheaterLad - 11/11/2010, 2:14 AM
@JoshW

Yet another thread where MTL is lecturing people about a movie where his knowledge of the characters is based almost entirely off everything other than the comic books.

Oh yes. Because apparently Ultimatum isn't a comic book. And you TOTALLY were able to tell how much I know about a character based on one example I used. You must be a wizard.

And a site centered around comic book MOVIES and SHOWS and CARTOONS somehow attracting fans who are familiar with them more-so than the comics? Oh wow! Stop the presses! Next thing you know, people will be posting comments on Youtube for music videos after seeing the band for the first time on Saturday Night Live or MTV!

Do I detect a "I knew about these characters before everyone else did" in your statement?

People want to see these movies based off of the 40+ years of history they have in the 616 universe

And yet they didn't deliver that with the Iron Man and Hulk movies from Marvel Studios but OH don't we just LOOOOOOVE those!

but this is different because it may be the only chance we get to see them in live action.

Hey man, if Marvel is to get the rights back eventually, then there's no reason why they can't feature them in movies centered around famous arcs involving them.

Also, if you are so vehemently against this movie, and know that I enjoy articles about this movie, then why do you even bother reading them? I don't go around looking for articles for things I don't care about and getting all mad when supporters defend it. Why should you? Why should you be so MAD when people like me state opinions like this when you're just setting yourself up for it? Needless to say, you're avatar is very fitting.

at least its got the beast in it,shame its not the rest of the original five.

My main problem with the X movies is that they completely change the core of a characters personality for no reason other than they felt like it.
I understand directors take some artistic liscence when they change things but if your going to change something crucial about a character there should be a damn good reason.
marvel72 - 11/11/2010, 2:55 AM

Rogue= out of character, Storm=out of character, Angel=out of character, Sabretoth in X1=completely out of character... the list just goes on and on.
They got Xavier, Magneto and Logan right though.
jazzman - 11/11/2010, 4:00 AM
this is dumb they fail at Film continuity this movie is a prequel but they cant get the characters right.

@MovieTheaterLad

Havok should not be in the movie he would end up as Cyclops older brother in the future. plus this movie fail at
film continuity cause its a prequel to the other X-Men movies.
NotAlwaysBlue - 11/11/2010, 4:18 AM
Continuity man.... Continuity! I just hope they tackle this point in the movie.

JoshWilding - 11/11/2010, 4:24 AM
"And yet they didn't deliver that with the Iron Man and Hulk movies from Marvel Studios but OH don't we just LOOOOOOVE those!"

Are you serious MTL? Apart from a few minor and perhaps necessary (as with any adaptation) changes, the movies that Marvel Studios have produced couldn't be any more faithful to the tone and characters in the 616 universe! Do they take some Ultimate influences? Maybe a few from outside of the comic books? Sure. But they still make damned good movies. Fox do not.

I can't be bothered to have the same argument I've had with you countless times before, but here's one piece of advice. Stop reading crap like "Ultimatum" and go pick up something like Mark Waid's run on Fantastic Four or JMS's on Amazing Spider-Man (they're just two of my favourites off the top of my head) if you really want a better idea about how these characters should be portrayed!
SpiderArse92 - 11/11/2010, 4:29 AM
"And don't forget that Singer directed X2 and not X3 in which Beast appears, but is now directing this"

@ movietheaterlad

emm....you do realise it's matthew vaughn directing this?
MagnaSolaris - 11/11/2010, 4:49 AM
I always hated X-men franchise. What they did to Cyclops, to Saberthoot, to Rouge, to Juggernaut... was just... so sad... X-men Fist Class will carry on with the tradition of destroying the core of the characters. Like, for example, having Havok and not Cyclops... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WHITH THESE PEOPOLE? WHY THEY HATE CYLOPS SO MUCH?? I mean, yeah, Havok is awesome, and maybe he will be awesome on this movie, but to a lot of followers of the x-men comics, one of the things that defines Havok is the fact that he is Cyclops younger brother, in a continuity where CYCLOPS IS THE [frick]ING LEADER OF THE TEAM!!! He's not my cup of tea, but he is not a whiny idiot, he is a simbol and a great leader, right there with people like Captain America.
So what if Beast is blue or not? THIS IS NOT X-MEN AT ALL!!
Ranger14 - 11/11/2010, 4:50 AM
The0Amazing0Justin0Credible@ It really irks me when people tell me I am going to go see a movie when I actually won't. If I am not interested in how a movie is progressing I am not going to pay money to go see it.

MTL@ The issue I have with Havoc is that we were told that Cyclops (one of the First Class mutants) would not be in this film because he would be too young for this period, yet they cast his younger brother in the movie. That is not an issue with you? I guess Fox is banking on fans that really don't care how much they mess around with things or aren't smart enough to see the conflict in saying one thing and doing something that completely contradicts what they have said.
LEEE777 - 11/11/2010, 5:00 AM
MTL @ KEEP YOR A$$ IN THE AIR! ; )

If you had your way it'll be X-MEN [frick]ing EVOLUTION the movie lmao!!!

First Class is the REAL FIRST CLASS!

The only character their actually keeping and they can't even keep him HUMAN FORM?!?

[frick] FOX and all those who sail in her! ; D
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 11/11/2010, 5:01 AM
MovieTheatreLad does have a point guys. Maybe we see Hank change in the movie and develop a tempoary suppressant.

If if happens or not....

GIJoeBaroness - 11/11/2010, 5:02 AM
I don't feel like this is really the X-men, I wish they would have just done the real first class and rebooted it the right way. We can be sure we'll see crappy costumes, a storyline that doesn't fit in, and a hot naked blue lady. I know I'll see it, but I don't think I'm going to be impressed.
JoshWilding - 11/11/2010, 5:07 AM
LMAO LEE, I'm guessing that the only reason they're making Beast blue in this movie is because every other mutant they've decided to include is so [frick]ing boring! I'd love to know who at Fox sat down and said, "You know who we should put in this movie? Angel Salvadore, Riptide and every other D-List X-Man!" Bryan Singer would be my guess. :P
JackBauer - 11/11/2010, 5:46 AM
Everybody screaming "continuity" needs to reread the early X-Factor issues. Everyone knows the Beast started off looking mostly human and then gained the blue fur. What most of you are forgetting or don't know is that around X-Factor #3 the Beast reverted to his formal non-hairy appearance. This lasted until issue 33, 2-1/2 years later, when he regained the blue fur. Maybe his cameo in X2 was set during the time he lost the blue fur.

Anyway, I have no problem with him starting off with this look as I always found him more interesting this way.
spiderneil - 11/11/2010, 5:49 AM
they should drop the title 'first class' and be done with it because it bears little resemblance for the original x-men team.
LEEE777 - 11/11/2010, 6:07 AM
JOSH @ Yeah man lol, yeah its a damn X-Train wreck! : p

[frick]ing idiots... Hollywood (well FOX) always gotta do their own twisted a$$ crappy version and [frick] the real X-Fans is their motto!

spiderneil @ Exactly, FOX should at least do that!

That at least gives MARVEL STUDIOS a chance to use that title and do a real X-MEN: FIRST CLASS once Fox has butt fricked it to hell.
dfresh - 11/11/2010, 6:15 AM
Is it surprising that the studios don't throw in the cameos that everyone screams for (Pyms in the Avengers, Namor in Captain America, etc.)? Once they do, they're now locked into whatever little shout out they forced into the movie as a nod to fans. If they want to go another direction than what they put in, they'll get abused for changing things up.

"Janet wore glasses in her spot in Avengers, now she has perfect eyesight?? WTF??? REBOOT!!!"

X2 thought it'd be cool to throw in a background image of a guy named Dr. Hank McCoy giving an interview, something just for fanboys, but now they can't have him be anything but his human form going from that moment and back without an uproar.

Just let these people make their damn movies.
Knightstalker - 11/11/2010, 6:22 AM
You know, I enjoy reading the discussions between fans on this site, but I really get sick and tired of the militant purists who blast other fans and lecture them. You just can't make a CBM without making a few changes so it translates well to film. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Really, don't you think there's bigger issues in the world to get worked up over? Yes, I mean you MTL.
Ryden - 11/11/2010, 6:32 AM
Actually, this doesn't sound too bad. That small cameo in X-2 kinda went unnoticed by most people, it might be cool to see Hank go from Human to the modern day Beast, and see how he deals with that.

I actually don't get all the hate for First-Class? The only thing that pisses me off about it is the lacjk of the actual first class, other than that it sounds like it could be a oretty good movie. It's got a good cast, a good director etc etc

So really what's the problem? As dfresh has already pointed out, if you're expecting a 100 % faithful adapation then you're gonna be seriously dissapointed. At the end of the day, it's these guys movies not yours, if you don't like what they're doing, then just don't watch it.

I mean I'm not saying no-one can complain or whatever but just calm the [frick] down. It;s not the end of the world.
LEEE777 - 11/11/2010, 6:40 AM
Ryden @ You have to love the characters FIRST AND NO NOT 100% BUT 50 % a good start!

Obviously you don't care...

I'd rather not put a cent in FOX's pocket and have the franchise rightly back where it belongs, fund it... we'll never get that!
2cool4school - 11/11/2010, 6:49 AM
@Wadey09 Thanks I never noticed that. I guess I was just always looking at Rebbecca!
dfresh - 11/11/2010, 6:56 AM
@LEEE, the thing that's funny is the actual comics take a ridiculous amount of liberties with the characters every time a new writer takes it on. But all of these seem to be A-OK. The comics aren't a specific novel that studios are turning into movie adaptions. They're just general characters that can be played with a bit while giving some love to popular arcs from the past, the same way they're treated in the comics.

If next year in an X-Men comic arc, they reveal that Beast was actually a product of Galactus going back in time and raping Aunt May, you and Josh would think "Wow, what a plot twist!" But for the movies to say that Hank had a way of appearing in his human form for a background TV interview, you want to throw your hands up and walk away from the whole thing.

And all of this is based on a costume chick commenting on Beast being big and blue! We have no idea what it will be in the movie.
