In February, it was announced that Kate Mara had been cast as Susan "Sue" Storm, better known as the Invisible Woman in the upcoming Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four reboot. We've heard a few tidbits about the film since them, but for the most part we've heard very little and seen even less.

In an interview with Esquire México, featured in the July 2014 issue, Mara chatted a bit about her upcoming role in the reboot, and while she doesn't reveal too much about the film's plot, she does drop a potential clue as to whether or not the plot will be a familiar one or not. She also talks about her audition process and how much she knew about the role prior to landing it.

The original interview is in Spanish and has been translated by yours truly using Google Translate, so it may be just a little rough. Check out an excerpt from the interview below:

Q: How do you feel being the new Invisible Woman? It's a big responsibility.

A: I don't feel more responsibility with this role that I've felt with others. I understand that there are many fans of Fantastic Four and I guess they expect a lot from me, but I prefer not to be pressured by that. We are also trying to create a new way of seeing these superheroes, I'm focusing on making her (Susan Storm) as real as possible.

Q: Do you like comics?

A: I've never been a fan of comics, I've never actually read one. I was going to for this movie but the director said it wasn't necessary. Well, actually he told us that we shouldn't do it because the plot won't be based on any history of anything already published. So I chose to follow his instructions. The one fact is I am a fan of comic book movies, so it's very exciting to be part of a movie like this.

Q: What did you think when the audition for this movie? Were you nervous?

A: I was excited, but I only focused on doing the best I could. I think there are roles you get if that's what needs to happen. I kept everything in perspective although expected to stay with the paper, because the movie has great actors like Michael B. Jordan (who will be the Human Torch).

The most interesting bit of information from this interview has to be that the reboot won't be following any famous or pre-existing Fantastic Four story, so it looks like Trank is really taking this film into his own direction. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below and don't forget to check out her stunning photos!

The Fantastic Four reboot will feature:
Director: Josh Trank
Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
Kate Mara as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman
Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch
Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/The Thing
Toby Kebbell as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom
Reg E. Cathey as Dr. Storm

The Fantastic Four reboot is expected to hit theaters June 19, 2015.

WeaponX93 - 7/14/2014, 6:02 PM
If it won't be based on an comic history, why even call it the Fantastic Four? I can defend Fox's X-Men. Not sure about this one
SuperCat - 7/14/2014, 6:02 PM
She can get it.

DaVinci31 - 7/14/2014, 6:06 PM

SniktBub - 7/14/2014, 6:06 PM
The plot won't be based on the Fantastic Four? What lol. Probably not seeing anymore
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 6:08 PM
Actually guys, James Gunn didn't let his actors read comics either. Just saying. :)

Anyways, I'd [frick] the shit out of her.
MrBlackjack - 7/14/2014, 6:08 PM

Just when you thought this was as bad as it could get...

I am almost completely certain this movie is just being made to extend the rights for fantastic four.
Godidzu - 7/14/2014, 6:11 PM
So it's the Foxtastic Four.
LEEE777 - 7/14/2014, 6:12 PM
BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! Love that countdown one @ SuperCat! ; D
MarkJulian - 7/14/2014, 6:12 PM
Not even mad. The concept of the Fantastic Four are outdated, so what source material would you draw from? It's the very reason why the FF books don't sell anymore. Excited to see what Trank does with it. Maybe the comics can follow suite and make Marvel's First Family interesting again.
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 6:12 PM
I like really really wanna buy her dinner. She look like she can use a steak or two. Maybe a glass of milk. Then a nice [frick]. Yeah...

EzioKenway1225 - 7/14/2014, 6:14 PM
MrCbm-thats true.though Karen Gillan did read Infinity Gauntlet..also it should not matter if they read the comics or not..the writers should..they should do it for research and taking ideas that they think would fit their films and the actors should bring the characters that are laid out on the page to life..

i have an indifference towards this film because never been a big fan of FF even though i respect their legacy but i am interested in how they approach it and they have used Ultimate FF as inspiration and i am interested in how they do Victor Von Doom since Toby Kebell is playing him and the guy has recently been praised for his performance as Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
remembertheking - 7/14/2014, 6:14 PM
wow cant wait for this movie. plus i like the fact that they wont be basing it too heavily of comic books. I prefer it when the actors do not corrupt their roles by reading comics.
RetroFit - 7/14/2014, 6:14 PM
Sorry. I don't find her attractive at all. At all! She looks like a cross between Robin Wright Penn and Honey Bunny from Pulp Fiction in the cover shot:

PLUS

Not a good combo.
MrCBM56 - 7/14/2014, 6:16 PM
@Ezio True, and I wasn't even trying to defend this. It's just becoming more common I guess. Directors wanna do their thing with the characters. But the separations between the material and this film is crazy.
SidTheSloth - 7/14/2014, 6:16 PM
This movie will never surpass the original!
DrKinsolving - 7/14/2014, 6:16 PM

Why is this called the Fantastic 4?? Can't they just make Chronicle 2
remembertheking - 7/14/2014, 6:17 PM
this is a movie by the new fox marvel management. They gave us DOFP and now Apocalypse. Its a safe bet that this movie will be good. even can be pure quality and not just a transformers style money grab.
