Film Divider is claiming to have some exclusive details according to sources on the plot and characters of the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie adaptation based on the video games of the same name by Ubisoft.

Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past) is said to play two characters in the film set in two different time periods. His first role will be Michael Lynch, "a death row inmate who becomes pawn in the Assassins-Templars war" living in present time. His second role will be Aguilar de Agarorobo, who is an Assassin during the Spanish Inquisition. Aguilar's father is said to be "an assassin chief", which is a similar idea to the Assassin's Creed 2 video game where protagonist Ezio Auditore's father was an important figure of the Assassin's Creed.

In the present, Michael will be subject to tests made by a researcher named Joseph "who is a bit of a baddie". However, someone will help Michael in the form of a female Assassin named Lara. Similar to Fassbender, the site reports that whoever is cast as Lara will additionally play an ancestor of theirs in the past. Actress Olivia Munn has publicly expressed interest in a role, so perhaps she will get cast?

The villain of the present will be Alan Rikkin (pictured left), (Film Divider calls them "Alan Rikkan"), the CEO of Abstergo, known as "the corporate front for the evil Templars". Rikkan will not appear physically, instead just as a voice for the time being. He appeared in the 2007 Assassin's Creed game.

The "chief bad guy" during the Inquisition will be Tomás de Torquemada (pictured right), based on the real life Grand Inquisitor of Spain of the same name. He has previously appeared in the Assassin's Creed 2 spin-off,  Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery for Nintendo DS and iOS, first released back in 2009.

Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) is in talks to direct. The script is currently being rewritten by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Exodus: Gods and Kings). Fassbender, Frank Marshall (Jurassic World) and Connor McCaughan are all producing. It will be Ubisoft Motion Picture's first film, and they are also co-producing it with New Regency. 20th Century Fox will distribute it.

Assassin's Creed is scheduled to be released in 3D on August 7, 2015.

duhhhhhhhh anyways I like the idea for an original character in the verse.
Pasto - 8/11/2014, 8:30 AM
Isn't that what it's like in the game?
TelaVizion - 8/11/2014, 8:31 AM
Good
TelaVizion - 8/11/2014, 8:32 AM
I'm glad they're not making it about Desmond and his bloodline. Keeping the pattern of having different bloodlines in different medias.
TelaVizion - 8/11/2014, 8:32 AM
Now I'm really anxious for this movie.
charlie2094 - 8/11/2014, 8:34 AM
Could see that, did originally think he'd only play the modern day, but be great if he does both.

Like that they're not using Desmond, do prefer that they do their own thing. Hope this turns out well!
Mrcool210 - 8/11/2014, 8:36 AM
so happy its a new character, can't wait to see what they come up with, too bad i stopped caring about the story in the games after assassins creed 3
charlie2094 - 8/11/2014, 8:37 AM
Completely forgot that this is scheduled for August 15, only one year! Thought we'd have had more by now
Talontd - 8/11/2014, 8:37 AM
Ummm...is Olivia Munn rumored to have the part? Or is that your suggestion?

Because it's terrible...
0megaDaGod - 8/11/2014, 8:38 AM
This is good

This movie could be VERY unique from an action and thematic standpoint
Klone - 8/11/2014, 8:40 AM
Sounds like a very uninteresting time period to me.
TopCat89 - 8/11/2014, 8:41 AM
SmellofDuty - 8/11/2014, 8:42 AM
I like this man! Im a huge fan of both Fassbender and the AC series. I can't wait. And I figured he would play both from the start anyway, thought that was a given.
SmellofDuty - 8/11/2014, 8:43 AM
TheRealMandarin - 8/11/2014, 8:43 AM
Kinda had a feeling he would play two different characters from different times but what the hell happened to Desmond and Altiar?
tvor03 - 8/11/2014, 8:46 AM
I thought it was assumed he would playing two roles? The other bits of information are cool though. They totally need to cast Kristen Bell to be in this.
SmellofDuty - 8/11/2014, 8:50 AM
I don't get the Lara part. Somebody explain.
KidGoku - 8/11/2014, 8:50 AM
I don't care if it's good or bad. Fassbender is going to kill it and I'm gonna watch.
Supes17 - 8/11/2014, 8:51 AM
Cool. Will he be a Spanish Assassin? Because I'm starting to get annoyed by only having Spaniards as villains.
You had Gov. Torres in AC4, Rodrigo Borgia in AC2, Cesare Borgia in AC Brotherhood.. Come on..
ManCalledSting - 8/11/2014, 8:53 AM
Sounds good. I agree with TelaVizion, seperate bloodlines for separate mediums sounds good.
Klone - 8/11/2014, 8:54 AM
By the way, "sounds" implying I'm not overly knowledge about this period, so not to be confused with a "THIS PERIOD IS NOT INTERESTING!" exclaim.

This, I am happy this may be an original story. Although I personally think if they wished to follow the games, best do what the books did:

Remove the present day storyline. First book was Ezio in ACII (called Renaissance), then the Brotherhood novel, then Secret Crusade (Altair's whole life with Ezio going to Constantinople the Epilogue) and then Revelations novel.
MrNiklander - 8/11/2014, 8:55 AM
So in a way we get Assasins Creed 1 but with a different lead and setting?!!?[frick]ing seriously!? Just look at this
In the present, Michael will be subject to tests made by a researcher named Joseph "who is a bit of a baddie". However, Michael will have help in the form of a female Assassin named Lara. Really they just copied the premise of the first game. This smells failure already
ManCalledSting - 8/11/2014, 8:57 AM
I've watched a buddy play some of the games, and just recently got 1-3(revelations and brotherhood included) on my PS3 for $28.00. I've played a bit of 1 so far. That said I've read about, and told about the story quite bit. I didn't know there were books.
ManCalledSting - 8/11/2014, 8:59 AM
That said, I'd rather them take ideas from the games and the books.
vinomonster - 8/11/2014, 9:11 AM
I just wanted them to be faithful to source material. I wanna see Altair in a movie though.
ScorpioRisin - 8/11/2014, 9:19 AM
Thank god no direct adaptation of Altair or Ezio, that should keep it fresh and expand the universe.
Also, [frick] Olivia Munn. Get Kristen Bell for a cameo.
ekrolo2 - 8/11/2014, 9:20 AM
Good, keep it original with ACs premise you can easily just get a new character and explore his family tree separate of everyone else. Hell AC4 introduced the idea of Abstergo using these memories to create video games, the possibilities are vast with this premise.
batman001 - 8/11/2014, 9:24 AM
@topcat89 bro beat me to it
TankD - 8/11/2014, 9:27 AM
I would have prefered Altair but an original story would be acceptable.

I just hope they make him an anti hero hardened assassin.

I always pictured the films being a mix between the matrix and kingdom of heaven. more KoH then the matrix though.
TankD - 8/11/2014, 9:28 AM
yea and noolivia munn she cant act forshit and shes to bubble gum for a movie like this. go get a new tv hosting job biiitch.
MexicanSuperman - 8/11/2014, 10:28 AM
I'm good with this, but I would had loved an Altair movie. I think the film will connected the game universe.
muttonman - 8/11/2014, 11:00 AM
Olivia Munn should only be cast as the annoying friend in direct to DVD rom-com's...
KingRainbow - 8/11/2014, 11:45 AM
Dammit... Michael Fassbender as an Español?! Heh...
HypeMusheen - 8/11/2014, 11:50 AM
Assassin's Creed?

more like Ass Ass n' Ass!

shit muvie.
DrunkenNukem - 8/11/2014, 12:14 PM
wait what??? no Altair?? wtf?
Klone - 8/11/2014, 12:17 PM
If they do Altair adapt Secret Crusade.
ibravosp5 - 8/11/2014, 12:19 PM
Desmond looks like he doesn't exist...nor does Lucy...and the premise kinda sounds like the first game except with different characters......a blend between the first and second game....this maybe it's own universe branded assassins creed
DrunkenNukem - 8/11/2014, 12:30 PM
let´s hope this movie doesn´t get butchered like max payne or resident evil franchise..hell they could not make a decent Far Cry movie...and that´s just generic action
gaikinger - 8/11/2014, 12:33 PM
Olivia Munn?....Better actresses in porn.
SniktBub - 8/11/2014, 12:50 PM
Sounds good to me. I do wish they did one during the 100 year war with Joan of Arc tho
