Finally, a "Gargoyles" movie...sort of

Disney is kind of making a movie about the bad ass living statues from the 90's and a veteran comic book movie producer is on board!

According to Cinemablend, David Elliot and Paul Lovett are writing this bad boy which is being produced by none other than Lauren Schuler Donner. She's produced all the X-Men movies and a few other classics such as "Mr. Mom," and "St. Elmo's Fire".

It's a bit confusing how this film will play out since it apparently is NOT based on the cartoon, yet is about living gargoyles which as you may or may not recall, was pretty much the premise of the 90's classic.

In my opinion, "Gargoyles" was second only to "Batman" as far as gritty kid cartoons go. There was a particularly good episode where the police woman, Alisa, is shot by a Gargoyle by mistake, this dealt with the seriousness guns, another episode talked about literacy.

At any rate, let's hope this materializes and ends up being cool.

This is a project that has been bouncing around Disney for years and, unfortunately from all I can gather, has nothing whatsoever to do with the Gargoyles animated series property. No Goliath, no Xanatos, no Demona... none of 'em. Which sucks because I agree with you... that cartoon was near the top of my list of animated series.

That cartoon was freaking awesome @DurkinKnight.
If the three musketeers bombs, they should seriously think about giving the cartoon the movie treatment. It could be their next big franchise. The CGI is good enough.

Stupid. Why make a Gargoyles movie with the same good damn premise if it has NOTHING to do with the show???

Gargoyles was the freaking shit. The whole family was hooked on that series. WE'RE the audience they should be aiming for. Dumb. Seriously dumb.

I think this would be cool, I loved the series as a kid, but I don't understand how its not gonna be based on the show.
