X-Men Fancast

After casting a couple of the roles for my Uncanny Avengers cast I started thinking about who else I would cast and what story I would want told for an X-Men film.

The main X-men team would be the line up from the old animated series.

It will have Mutants, Purifiers and Sentinels, and would have the classic iconic costumes.

It would differ from the previous films by not having the X-men face off against Mutants but go against The Purifiers; the story line would be more along the lines of two different species fighting for survival, rather than mutants vs. mutants.

Cyclops - Armie Hammer

Armie Hammer is an American actor. After appearing on television and playing Billy Graham in 2008's Billy: The Early Years, he became known for his portrayal of the Winklevoss twins in the 2010 film The Social Network, Clyde Tolson in J. Edgar (2011), and Prince Andrew Alcott in Tarsem Singh's Mirror Mirror (2012). He will play the title character in the 2013 film Lone Ranger.

His going to be great as the Lone ranger and I've seen him in a few different roles now and think he will do a great job as Scott Summers.

Wolverine - Jon Bernthal

Jon Bernthal is an American actor, best known for his role as Shane Walsh on the AMC television series The Walking Dead.

The easiest choice I made for the cast he was amazing in Walking dead and he would be a great alternative to Hugh Jackman as the Savage Wolverine.

Rogue - Lyndsy Fonseca

Lyndsy Fonseca is an American actress known for playing Colleen Carlton on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and The Restless, Dylan Mayfair on the ABC series Desperate Housewives, and Ted Mosby's future daughter on How I Met Your Mother. She also played Katie Deauxma in the 2010 superhero film Kick-Ass

She's doing a great job showing she can do the action role in Nikita and I would love to see her step up to the big leagues as it were.

Storm - Marsha Thomason

Marsha Thomason is an English actress who is known in the United States for playing Nessa Holt in the first two seasons of the NBC series Las Vegas, for her recurring role on ABC's Lost as Naomi Dorrit, and for playing FBI agent Diana Berrigan on USA Network's White Collar.

She was great in Las Vegas and from what I've seen of her in White Collar she's only getting better.

Beast - Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman is an American actor and director. Hoffman began acting in television in 1991, and the following year started to appear in films. He gradually gained recognition for his supporting work in a series of notable films, including Scent of a Woman (1992), Twister (1996), Boogie Nights (1997), Titanic (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998), Magnolia (1999), The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Almost Famous (2000), 25th Hour (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), Along Came Polly (2004), and Mission: Impossible III (2006).

I wanted the actor who plays Beast to be able to act through the makeup and wanted an actor I knew could do the part justice

Gambit - Alexander Skarsgård

Alexander Skarsgård is a Swedish actor. He is best known for his roles as vampire Eric Northman on the HBO series True Blood, Meekus in Zoolander and Brad Colbert in the HBO miniseries Generation Kill.

His great in True Blood and yet again he stood out during Straw Dogs, he also has the charm and charisma to play of Gambit.

Jubilee - Sophie Wu

Sophie Wu is a British actress, who trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art from 2003-2006. She's stared in the TV Series the Fades in 2011, Kick-Ass in 2010 and is currently in the second series of the Tv Series Fresh Meat.

Seen her in a few things now and she's cute she's funny and she's a very under-rated actress.

Jean Grey - Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks is an American actress. Banks made her film debut in the low-budget independent film Surrender Dorothy. She is best known for her roles in the films Seabiscuit, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Invincible, Definitely, Maybe, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, W., Role Models, Wet Hot American Summer, The Uninvited, The Hunger Games, People Like Us, and Pitch Perfect.

True her hair will have to be dyed; however I wanted to have someone play Jean who could be the woman next door but also someone who's smart and graceful which she is.

Professor X - Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes is an English theatre and film actor. A noted Shakespeare interpreter, he first achieved success onstage in the Royal National Theatre. Since then, he has portrayed characters such as Nazi war criminal Amon Goeth in Schindler's List, Count Almásy in The English Patient, and Charles Van Doren in Quiz Show. He also starred in The Constant Gardener, Strange Days, Red Dragon, The Prince of Egypt, Onegin, and The End of the Affair, among others. He is also well known for playing Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series. Fiennes also has a role in the James Bond film Skyfall.

Professor X needed to be played by a person with great screen presence and his perfect.

Leper Queen - Daryl Hannah

Daryl Hannah is an American film actress. She is best known for her performances in the films Splash, Blade Runner, Roxanne, Wall Street, Steel Magnolias, and Kill Bill.

I wanted the Leper Queen to be played by someone who can play the role from a darker but more realistic place and she will be perfect.

William Stryker - James Masters

James Marsters is an American actor and musician. Marsters first came to the attention of the general public playing the popular character Spike, a platinum-blond yobbish English vampire in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off series, Angel, from 1997 to 2004. Since then, he has gone on to play other science fiction roles, such as the alien super villain Brainiac on the Superman-inspired series Smallville, the omnisexual time traveller Captain John Hart in British science-fiction show Torchwood and terrorist Barnabas Greeley in Syfy's Caprica. Marsters appeared in a supporting role in the 2007 movie P.S. I Love you and as the main antagonist, Piccolo, in the 2009 fantasy adventure film Dragonball Evolution. He appeared as a recurring character in the first season of the revival of Hawaii 5-0.

He is charming, funny and has an intensity that would come across well for the leader of the Purifiers.

Bolivar Trask - John Malkovich

John Malkovich is an American actor, producer, director and fashion designer with his label Technobohemian. Over the last 25 years of his career, Malkovich has appeared in more than 70 motion pictures. For his roles in Places in the Heart and In the Line of Fire, he received Academy Award nominations. He has also appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Empire of the Sun, The Killing Fields, Dangerous Liaisons, Of Mice and Men, Con Air, Being John Malkovich, and Red, and has produced numerous films, including Juno and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

He is a great actor and a truly menacing screen presence.

Fantastic cast!

Two small problems though. As much as I wanted Cyclops to have a bigger part in the first series(He's my favorite X-Man), you have to recast him for a reboot.

A big no to PSH as Beast. He couldn't play the physical part of the role.
ScarletSpeedster0 - 10/28/2012, 9:44 AM
@Night After your Point I did recast Cyclops.

However I think your mistaken about PSH espically when the two previous actors who have played beast haven't done that much physical work,

Grammar was done with CGI/Wire Work and in First Class they have shown it apart from where he hung upside down from the model of the jet in the fight seen they didn't use him to the full potential as they could have making a point of stregth and claws over agility.
ScarletSpeedster0 - 10/28/2012, 11:01 AM
@ steiners thanks man this is third cast in as many days.

Check out my uncanny avengers and super crooks casts and let me know what you think.

Also any future ideas for what cast to do next is always welcome.

Best cast I've seen that I can recall. Started off right with Hammer, though I've yet to seen how good of an actor he is or isn't. Skarsgard is maybe, though I still don't believe he can act and Banks is WAY too old to play Jean to Hammer's Cyclops. Same problem the current movies have.

Overall, solid, common sense cast. Gets my approval for whatever that's worth.
DDD - 10/28/2012, 3:08 PM
Not a bad casting.

You've got half of my X-MEN cast.

Pretty fitting casting, though.
M3T4LL0 - 10/28/2012, 3:52 PM
Great fan cast you have here. You and I have the same wolverine pick. I haven't seen enough of Skarsgard but he sure does look the part. I would really like to see a part 2 to this. I would like to see who you would cast as Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, Bishop, Cable, Angel, and Forge among others. These are all pretty original picks and one of the best fan casts I've seen in ages. Well done sir!
FlixMentallo21 - 10/28/2012, 5:02 PM
Marsden aside, I think this is a decent fancast idea.

When you have a moment, take a look at my latest fancast: "Justice Society of America: The Savage Challenge"--The Animated Movie.
TheSoulEater - 10/28/2012, 5:49 PM
I can see most of these working
toco89 - 10/28/2012, 7:15 PM
Fiennes as Xavier is still bad casting though. Him being an intellectual is not reason enough to cast him despite his acting talent. He doesn't come off as noble, like Patrick Stewart. When Daniel Craig gets older he'll make a great Xavier I think.

ScarletSpeedster0 - 10/28/2012, 11:21 PM
@ m3tallo ask and you shall receive I'll try and work out at least a couple more movies worth of x-men stories and characters; I'll try and put them up over the next few days.

@ everyone so far, thanks for all the comments
Theunderdog - 10/29/2012, 1:26 AM
Decent cast I don't like Elizabeth Banks as Jean Grey she is not a good fit for character I found her to be very old for armie hamme. Armie hammer is fitting choice for Cyclops

I still don't like your storm and wolverine and gambit
M3T4LL0 - 10/29/2012, 11:14 AM
@ ScarletSpeedster0

Thanks buddy! I'm looking forward to seeing it.
TheHierophant - 10/29/2012, 1:16 PM
@ScarletSpeedster0: Why were the comments left by @Theunderdog and myself deleted? I see you changed your Rogue description. I'm just unsure why our comments were deleted.
ScarletSpeedster0 - 10/29/2012, 1:44 PM
@The Hierophant no idea how they were deleted I infact left a message saying thanks for pointing out my mistake with the rogue description thats gone as well
SAT - 10/30/2012, 5:25 PM
Banks is a bit old for Armie's Cyclops. I feel there are bigger & better roles for Armie, but he's be great as Cyclops anyway! The rest are pretty good, you & I have the same Storm pick. Overall cool cast. I'd see this movie for sure!
ScarletSpeedster0 - 10/30/2012, 11:23 PM
@SAT thanks for the comment a lot of people have said about banks I am looking to recast jean but not found a actress I like for the part.
SAT - 11/2/2012, 5:33 PM
@ScarletSpeedster0 Yeah she'd be good as an older Jean.
Jamesob5 - 1/13/2013, 11:11 AM
I really love your pick for Wolverine. It really fits. That may end up being my choice too.
